Pointe Shoes, Chapter 3

"You're up early," Mauve said as she walked to me on the pier over looking the Gulf.

"Just thinking," I whispered as I held my knees tight to my chest.

"About what, mi amiga?" she asked.

"About school next year," I answered. "I'm a little scared about it."

"Can't blame you," Mauve answered. "Thinking about backing out of it?"

I stood up and skipped a rock into the ocean. Backing out, yeah, there were times when I thought about that option.

12 year old Mark O’Malley had been practically typecast as the dopey sidekick because of his role in the runaway hit Disney production, “My Brother Mark”. But while on the set of his older sister Krissy’s much darker sci-fi movie production, a misheard comment leads to a whole new branch in his career, and in his life.

My alarm woke me up, much as every morning. I dragged out of bed and headed to the shower, to start another day. I enjoyed my morning shower, it allowed me to tune my voice for the coming day and put on the body lotions I liked. I didn’t like the negative thoughts that seemed to go with it though, but they had always been with me, so I mostly ignored them. Still, it is disconcerting to hear yourself say “I’m so tired of being a girl.” especially when it is not true.

My name is Stacy. It wasn’t always my name, but I liked it well enough after I transitioned from being Stan.

Melanie starts to socialize in her new world and discovers it ain't like West High.

Chapter Two: Thanks for the memories

Belinda clutched at her head as dizziness struck her. The world about her was fading, fading into a mass of blurred colours. Dimly through the haze she felt her knees strike soft turf as her legs gave way under her.

“Stefan, help!”

“It’s all right, I promise; this will be a memory coming back.”

No, this isn’t a memory, I can feel myself fading, going to another time, another place.

Belinda shut her eyes. Brian opened them.

Melanie's first school day as a girl, in a school that is rather different from her old one.
