My weekend with Samantha was awesome

Well, Samantha is back home with her mother, and I can say that it was an awesome time having her here.

We watched videos, we attempted to make rice crispie square Christmas trains (and had more fun failing than I think we would have had if they had turned out perfectly), and I got to be more of a parent than I think I've been since she was born.

She's turning into a kind, thoughtful, and responsible young woman, but one who can still enjoy being silly too.

Sighs ... I already miss having her here ...

Another year, another disappointment

Another birthday come and gone. On the boards where people knew that Oct 11 is my b'day, I got 1 message. One. Family was gone today at drama stuff, so I was alone - again. Neither sibling called.

The whole thing is depressing. Wish it didn't exist. Wonder if the world would notice if I didn't...

It's a boy! Woman with transplanted womb gives birth

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/world-first-baby-born-to-woman-w...

In a medical first, a woman in Sweden has given birth after receiving a womb transplant, the doctor who performed the pioneering procedure said Friday.

The 36-year-old mother received a uterus from a close family friend last year. Her baby boy was born prematurely but healthy last month, and mother and child are now at home and well. The identities of the woman and her male partner were not disclosed.

Can't Take The Sky From Me! Delay

Hello! This is a heads-up that my MAU story will be a little delayed. Understanding Spouse just got back from being away on a business trip, so we will be spending time together doing this and that! Perhaps we'll even do the dating thing with dinner and a movie. :)

At tjhe latest I should be able to put up the next chapter before the end of the weekend.

Real Life changes gear

So here we are, in the hottest part of the UK year, and I'm unable to do things most of the day because of the heat. That doesn't seem to phaze Real Life, of course, which just keeps piling it on.

Short result: Somewhere Else Entirely may be delayed for the next two months or so. See below for details.

Thank you all for your kindness.

Thank you all for the messages of condolence you've sent me after the death of my son. I have no idea if I'll be allowed to attend the funeral, not that it worries me that much, except it would have been nice to be with my ex and daughter to give them support. The reason I don't care about going is that it will be staged managed to show my daughter in law as the wronged, long suffering wife who is now a single parent. The fact that we believe she drove my son to suicide is probably another reason I keep away from her, I might not be answerable for my actions.

In a strange place.

I'm in a strange place at the moment, sort of on autopilot. At lunchtime I received a call that put me there. My ex phoned to say my son was dead - he was 33. Apparently, he walked out of his camper van in the middle of the night and then jumped to his death from a motorway bridge. I don't know why. His wife will probably blame me, although I haven't spoken to him for four years, his choice not mine. I can't say I feel particularly sad, because I can't actually feel anything. I worked this afternoon as normal because I couldn't do anything else.

Gratitude and an Intro

For those of you that don't know me, my name is Amy. I'm a 36 year old cis-gendered woman who is currently in college studying Social Work.I'm currently engaged to Piper.

I joined BC to give and get support. I also plan to write stories when I have some time. I may not struggle with the same demons you do, but I have my own I struggle with on a daily basis, which explains the username.

My output

While I don't have a high output to begin with, I suspect it may drop off for a few weeks. The kids are out of school and when they're not tying up the computer, they're still up and about. It was much easier to write around them when they couldn't read...

I only mention this because I know some readers are waiting for continuations. But my available writing time, which was small already, has shrunk a lot.

My test results are mostly good

My test results are mixed. The good - there is no arterial blockage in my coronary arteries. Great! Now for the not-so-good - my case is ideopathic, without an identifiable cause for the weak area in my heart nor for the low ejection fraction. The electrophysiologist indicated that it could be as simple as a viral inflamation in some of the coronary arteries. It could be amplified by the diuretics I was taking in hope of delaying my next kidney stone (I've had 5 - and the last was 16mm!). It could have been amplified by another med that I was on.

Medical procedure tomorrow

A few weeks ago, I got up from my computer, took 3 steps, and blacked out, getting a significant concussion from the fall. The ER did their normal 'check he head' thing, and then they did an EKG to see WHY I fell in the first place. It showed 'probable septal infarc'. Needless to say, that got the doctors' attention.

After a stress test and echo-cardiogram, I know that there's a weak area in my heart, and my heart efficiency is about half of what it should be. Tomorrow, I go in for a cath and probable stent to fix the problem.

Some days you can't win

There are days that are so f'ing depressing where nothing goes right, and you have to wonder why keep trying? Still have a bad headache from the concussion that makes concentrating - and thus work - very difficult, so I'm getting further behind every day. Son's truck died inexplicably on the freeway yesterday, which means more $$$ I can't afford. Oldest is home from college and already making a mockery of house rules, and I'm getting zero backup from my spouse.

Finally

Finally , here in New Hampshire at the foot of Ragged Mountain today had absolutely no clouds ,no rain and the temperature hit a balmy 70 degrees (f.) .I had thought that it wasn't going to happen this year at all. LOL so that means that the nuclear winter wont be this year. Enjoy the oncoming summer all.

"I'm back", Cue evil laugh.

Well, here I am once more able to read stories on BC/Top Shelf. I have been out of the country "many moons", as some of my ancestors might say. I was not in a position to be able to use my own laptop(not allowed, plus no signal strength where I was located), and I sure as heck was not going to be using a government one, except for my official duties. Since the Manning and Snowden "show", personal use is highly frowned on.

FW: Come Sit With Me

My wife forwarded this to me as part of the 8 women she was supposed to forward it too. That says a lot about the level of acceptance she has regarding my feminine nature.

So, I send it to all of you in hopes that it will touch you the way it touched me.

Ma just called. It's past noon back home, but I guess she doesn't realize it's about 1:30 in the morning here. Sassafrassa...

She called to say we should postpone our delayed visit yet again as Winter Storm Ion is gonna be bringing extremely cold (dangerously cold, in fact) arctic air to most of the U.S. Northwest for the coming week.

Ma says the East Coast will not be too affected yet but it's best to stay put here in Manila.

I feel a bit chagrined. Moe and I postponed our trips home for the holidays (Kyoto and DC) on worry about the weather.

Lots of places in the States DID have really bad weather last week, so we thought that our decision was a good one, but Ma said that it was warm enough in DC the day before Christmas that Dad called it shirt-sleeves weather, and flights to and out of Raegan/National, Baltimore and Dulles weren't in danger of being canceled anytime soon..

Well, color me chagrined.

So today I spent the day with my 7Y/O cousin. She was a blast to be around. We started the day by making cookies and burning them, she thought that was hilarious, I felt really bad. She then treated me like a life size barbie doll and this is what resulted,

Whatever the future may hold

Some time back I was outed by one of my nephews, a particularly nasty and unthinking individual whose actions have unfortunately caused me multiple issues, not to mention the total polarization of my ex-wife's family. My ex-wife was the only person outside of my therapist and my friends here who actually new that I was transitioning - my plan being to address this with my sons in the spring of 2014. My three sons, who at the time my nephew decided to tell the world were aged 17, 22, and 25, unfortunately found out in a less than optimal fashion.
