disaster

A day of extremes here in Yorkshire.

The positive - I'd been stressing over my income to cover the next month for a few days and a visit to the bank this morning cheered me up no end. There's enough to get me through the month if i'm careful and don't go mad eating or buying stuff. Why is this month tight? Well the trip to Austria pretty much used up every penny I had then a follow up of trips to London and next week's trip to Germany have ensured things remain very tight. After next week though I get a few weeks to consolidate things so things will become easier.

Zombie, Ninja, Pirate Spiders - Sept. Challenge - LAST DAYS

Some years ago I was running a tabletop RPG in which my players were exploring an underground ocean. They had their own ship and were attacked by another ship. The crew of the pirate ship seemed to be made up of human-sized spiders carrying cutlasses and firing muskets. Except some of them seemed to come out of nowhere and attack with nunchuks, sais and shurikens. And some of them seemed to be undead and unkillable.

During the course of the battle one of the players said, "Wait, wait! Stop! We're fighting Zombie, Ninja, Pirate Spiders?"

SEE commentaries

As you all probably know I am currently writing What Milsy Did, but along with that there are of course many other projects on the back burner, not all of which are Anmar related. In addition I have to balance writing with Real Life, Health and my recently increased family. (I'm off on Friday to help my son build two wardrobes to replace the temporary ones that the Twins have destroyed.)

Although Somewhere Else Entirely seems like a good story - good enough that I see people reading it every single day - as the author I am aware of many shortcomings and just plain goofs. Like most stories it evolved during the creation process and so various parts don't quite gel. It is my intention to slowly go through it from one end to the other correcting the worst of the problems.

Mother's Child Chapter 13

I am finally posting Chapter 13 of Mother's Child. Family issues, illnesses, surgeries, work and a death in the family all helped to delay it.

Finally I got ready to publish this chapter a month or two ago and it had been so long, what with being ill and all since I had started it; I went back to the beginning and re-read everything from chapter 1. I discovered this chapter reallllly stank. I threw almost all of this chapter out and started over.

Here I hope is a worthy chapter. Enjoy, and let me know if you see problems and I will try to fix them.

Things are going to get very busy

On Saturday my course begins and I'm going on on holiday the next day - clever planning that - c'est la vie. The thing is, I've invested quite a bit of money in the course, a degree in Environmental Science, which is going to keep me a bit busy for the next six years. I'm hoping I'll still be able to write some Bikesodes, but obviously nowhere near as many as you have had in the past. I'm still working part time and that has got very busy as well, so life isn't easy at present - and the dormouse stuff I do in real life is also quite busy.

FRUSTRATED - a really silly request

For ever such a long time now, one of my Julina stories has been stuck!

It is the third one, called (logically) #002 - OK I started at 0 - and it has 2499 readers and 99 Kudos.

Can someone please put me out of my misery and just tip those numbers up by one?

Pretty please.

Julia.

Update time

For the last few weeks I've been dealing with some crazy stuff. First I got into a car crash and was in a coma for 3 days from what I've been told. I've since recovered and am at home. Secondly, for those of you wondering where the hell is Broken Phoenix, i'll get to that later in the post.

Thirdly, I lost my great Grandma the day before my car wreck and even though I'm trying to put that behind me it's hard losing someone who was so close to you for most of your life.

Fourthly, I am getting married next May!

Now for the part that really irks me.

new stories, but no new Mercy

As you may have noticed, I've posted a couple of small stories the last couple of days.

That might make you wonder when more Mercy is coming, and I am afraid the answer is ... not for a bit.

See, I'm kinda blocked on Mercy at the moment, which is why I've turned to trying to clear off the table some other ideas, in the hopes that keeping my muse active will eventually help me with Mercy.

Huggles to all!

Summer's over

Summer is officially over, while for most people summer is a time for fun and many outdoor activities. For myself summer is very close to a living nightmare as they change our schedule to a 4 ten hour day work week. I'm told this save hundreds of thousands of dollars not having light, air conditioning, etc running for that one day each week.

News from Yorkshire!

Hi all

Well first I have to tell you that there won't be an update on Sunday - I'm off to the mountains of Essex for my last cycling event of the season, the L'Etape London, 180km of well I doubt it'll be to bad unless it rains! Anyhow, as a result I won't be near a proper internet connection until next Wednesday when of course there will be a new chapter posted.

The call goes out for a beta/proof reader

Okay, the call goes out again from me for a beta/proof reader for another Bobby/Mel story line. Be aware that there is one section that I'm still working on but I would like both:

a. The persons thoughts, opinion on where the story went and how it read.
b. Obvious errors, but be aware there are some places that I'm sure I need to place the dreaded comma's and so forth.
c. What went right and what went wrong.

Quick Update

Just a quick update on my writing :)

I'm currently working on the spin off to It's Just a Skirt, I think I might have mentioned that more than once. I'm making excellent progress on it, I'll post it as soon as I'm finished. It is turning out to be a much longer tale than I anticipated too. It will more than likely be longer than Skirt. After I finish I'm hoping to get back to Just Keep Rolling.

I also have a few other stories too.

New Story - Marti and the Doppelganger

I have just posted a new story that will appear in 12 installments. Foolishly, I left a number of things unresolved. So I might have to write about them in the future. One of my reasons for writing this new addition to The Cynthia Chronicles was to try to get more readers interested in what I felt was an overlooked story, Simoné and the Second Time Around. The new story answers several unanswered questions from several stories in the series. I hope you enjoy it.

A Cold, Deep, Bedrock of...

..I don't know what.

About 3 1/2 months ago, I posted about why I hate Angharad.

My reasoning was sound. I am fairly busy. I have tons of stories left unread. Several left unwritten and/or unfinished. I was looking at Bike, and wondering two things.

How can I ever catch up when she has 3000+ chapters completed and is cranking them out daily?

How can anyone maintain this level of writing for such a long span of time?

Another 'auto-correct' smile

Saw this one the other day, which made me smile.

The author (one of those that strikes me as being one who seems to try to use big words a bit too often in order to be impressive, without necessarily understanding the required word) wanted to write 'commensurate'.

As in something like: "The starting salary will be commensurate with age and experience."

Unfortunately, (s)he chose to write, using the above example: "The starting salary will be commiserate with age and experience."

I suppose you could say I feel sorry for him/her - *grins*.

No Bike tonight

Sorry folks I have a visitor and we were out walking this evening, so it's too late to write this evening. I'll try and do one tomorrow.

I'm giving a bit of advance notice that my course begins on October 1st (I'm going away for a week the next day, my timing is always impeccable) and it looks as if I have to supply a written assignment about every three weeks, so I may not be able to write Bike as frequently as you've been used to seeing it.

I'm the most selfish person here

My stories aren't for others. I write for my own pleasure. Writing what I love with characters I enjoy the company of is why I write. "Almost A Girl" caught a lot of derogatory remarks. Readers didn't like the way Buddy-Barbara was treated. They didn't like my sentence structure. They didn't like a lot of the misspelled and non definition right words. I loved their candid posts. Some a little too personal but most were aimed at the story, characters, and plot.

I'm Kind of Ticked

About a month ago, I posted the second Jessie Hanks story to this site. It didn't get near as many reads as the Eerie stories usually get, and the second part got a lot less than the first part did. The two parts only got a couple comments.

I'd like to know why.

It isn't that people don't like my work. As a test, I posted "Vengeance" a week ago. It got a lot more reads and a heck of a lot more comments. Even if two of those comments were about my lousy spelling of an unfamiliar word.
