What if I'm the One

Ever since being a part of the "One Dozen Roses" anthology I contemplated if I could get my characters together to talk. I decided to go with the guys in each story and allow them to drop (even more) of their defenses and we get to hear what happened after their perspective stories.
The seven are forced to go to group therapy due to various issues: Matt, for example, has to take it as a part of his probation; Spencer, because he was found floating in the Spokane river after jumping from a bridge.

"What If I'm the One" Chapter 1 "As Long as I’m Here"

if im the one.jpg

The first one to volunteer was a young man who had had shoulder length hair and it was colored in faded streaks of rainbow. He wore John Lennon-esque glasses and he looked like he had seen better days…

As Long As I'm Here

Jazeta Amber Daniels...assistance request

When I originally wrote the screenplay for "Return to Innocence" I had the main character having to choose between the "good guy" and the "lost guy"
The good guy was Alex Foxx, a soon-to-be freshman in college who Jazz meets when he accidentally clotheslines her a a store. He's the all-round good guy who parents love
The lost guy was Kris Geremehl, her former boyfriend who has grown up over the years. They share a secret of a past abortion. Jazz's parents forced her and he didn't come to her rescue--not that he could do too much as a thirteen year old.

"Off the Ground" Chapter 3 "Magical Mystery Tour"

A fist pounded on my bedroom door several times sometime between o’dark thirty and oh-hell-no o’clock. Melissa—not waiting for answer—threw the door open and then threw off my comforter. Great thing for the both of us that I slept in a t-shirt and shorts.
“We got an hour to get to the school before the bus departs.”
“And we’ll get there in five minutes,” I groggily replied as I kicked the blanket back on top of me.
“My dad’s driving.”

The Duel

Back in the 1990's I heard this game soundtrack at the local BX and tried to think of a different, and high school rendition of the plot and started writing a plotline of two enemies who work to acquire their driver's licenses before the summer was over. Originally, it dealt with two guys...but, how would it be if two teenage girls were in a battle to be road-worthy before the other?

The Power of One (Book version) Chapter 1: "Desert Rose"

Desert Rose

“Our destruction, my sons. The city of the Thiff-steareya. It is forbidden. For it stands to wipe us off of the face of our home world.”

My great grandfather made it his life’s great mission to ingrain into our heads, the day our ancestors arrived. It did not matter if we were in bed, out in the fields, or if we were working on our sacred artifacts. And when the great Morea ‘Id spoke, everyone would stop and turn to him.

The story behind "Yuzurenai Negai"

I'm pretty sure just about everyone knows the title comes from the first season theme to the anime "Magic Knight Rayearth". I based the mood of the main character on the lyrics, specifically to the English translation made for the US Sega Saturn version by Working Designs.

"Without Me" Post Two: Bad at Love

Post Two: Bad at Love

Let’s get more out into the open and disinfect a few hot spots you failed to truthfully talk about in that big’ol article last month that’s still trending on Twitter: We met at the Eastside Club—a bar that left us alone in the corner because we honestly wanted only two Dr. Peppers and a space to talk about what was killing our hopes and dreams. We sat at the table near the back for almost six hours—going past closing time.

Without Me 1

Post One: Ashley

I’d like to wind the clock back about three years.
Hell, three years, five months, two days, seven hours, four minutes, and forty-nine seconds. Yeah, that’s when everything went kaboom.

Yes, put your hands into the “okay” sign, then put them together and then flick them away from each other and make an explosion sound with your lips.

You now know the thought going through my skull when my fiancé left me. WE WERE TOGETHER for five years. FIVE.

One Dozen Roses

Join a dozen Roses as they attend the SWEET Conference (South Western Exposition for the Embetterment of Transwomen/Transpeople, depending on who you ask.) Rose Gallagher is a registrar for the conference and notices that there are 12 Roses in attendance. On a whim, she contacts them and suggests a meeting of the Roses to share a bit about their choice of the name Rose.

“What Happens Next” Session One: “Out of the Sunrise” (starter)

What Happens Next?

I. Out of the Sunrise

I lived on the streets for six years of my life, by choice. I took four steps away from my single parent dwelling and never looked back.
Was it hard? Yes.
Did I do anything illegal? I would like to plead the fifth.
What made me come home?
It wasn’t that I came home, it was that I found a home, a few short moments before going over the edge.

“Right Here Waiting” Chapter 4 “ To My Senses“

I stood motionless for a few minutes, trying to make sense of the feelings that were overcoming me. Did I want to cry? Scream? Stay in a stupor of emotions?
Yes, to all of the above.

Jazeta Amber Daniels Chapter 9 “The Language of Sound”

She had dreamed of a ballroom with the silver sphere above causing a spectacular display of color along the wall. Everyone was dressed to play off the brilliance of that spectrum so that in the darkness they were an illuminated display of art. Even their faces, obscured by masks, sparkled in the low light. It was best to be hidden from sight, as her parents did not approve of her choice.

Queen of the Masquerade Ball Chapter 3

I didn’t get to Haley as she was quickly absorbed into a crowd of girls who looked like extras from a Black-Veil Brides video shoot. Not that I had an issue with goths, but at that moment the spell that I was under, the one that compelled me to get up and walk through the lunchroom. The one that made me think the ocean of students would part and it would just be the two of us, faded away and instead I found myself walking to the door that lead to the lunch line. I pretended that I was looking at the price of Cheetos as Haley was cloaked in a veil of black, red and purple hair.

Here Today, Tomorrow, Next Week Chapter 1

It was a perfectly fine day.
My espresso was perfection: overly sugared with whip cream along the top.
The coffee kept me level-headed—zen in a cup. Nirvana. A way to get my mind to not think about the forty-five minute drive it took to get to work from the suburbs. I had no issues getting from my apartment to the local Starbucks and then onto the “they call it an interstate highway, but it’s a parking lot”, just like Joni Mitchell said.
