Cherry Moone: MooneShadows Chapter 10: “The Aeroplane Flies High”

“The Aeroplane Flies High”

I woke up before Christy and stared at the bare walls of her bedroom. Christy lived in the partially unfinished basement of her grandmother’s house where the walls sometimes felt wet and hanging posters was just about impossible. The grey, naked bricks had millions of holes and I thought that if I could lose my mind counting those holes then I wouldn’t have to deal with my current situation:
That my family life sucked.
That my love life sucked.
That life in general sucked.

Land of Confusion

It’s been three years.

“Are You Happy” Stage 6: "Chain Reaction"

Are you Happy combo.jpgChain Reaction

When I was seventeen I fell in love with a girl named Amber. She was in two of my classes, English and French and she was at the top of the class in both languages and could flawlessly move between each language while I had issues with everything except sarcasm and dry humor. My French was limited to curse words and a few idioms.

“Are You Happy” Stage 5: "Gotta Know Now"

Gotta Know Now

I met Aylese a few days before my 12th birthday. It was an early spring day and I spent it in the woods across from my house in Papillion, Nebraska. The woods, such as they were, were a small patch of land that sat between our sub-division and the flat lands that once had a railroad line, with wooden beams, metal plates and rusty track spikes being the only remnants of that time. In the middle of the trees was a creek that during the summer and fall was near dry but in the late winter and early spring it was very deep and had a swift current.

INT. BEDROOM

The bedroom of CHERRY Moone, (13). Small, sparsely furnished. A small rug covers the unfinished wood floor.

Cherry-a girl with light red hair--stands with her backpack
in hand and looks at a picture of her standing next to a boy,
Josh Daniels.

She picks the picture up and stares at it as she brushes away
a tear.

WEDNESDAY (OS) Cherry! Let's go!

She places the picture back, places her hand on her abdomen
and leaves the room.

Flashback and other ideas I've had for 21 years or so

Flashback

I know, the title is not original...nor is the concept, but it deals with a girl who can go back in time by literally taking a step back. She can go back to a particular day and retain the knowledge of what occurred.

There are times where her powers bring her to situations where there are more of her in the same moment in time and they have to solve the quantum puzzle at hand. I had one scene in particular where her girlfriend has been accused of murdering someone and in her attempt to clear her name she is shot which causes a paradox.

And here, we have my very first attempt at screenwriting.
This was entered into the first year of Project Greenlight where it went to round two but was eliminated.

Unlike the other scripts, you will note the lack of any musical cues, as these were added in a later draft that was lost (along with my other scripts when I erased the wrong memory card).

Please note that the script's ending is NOT the same as the book (Unwritten Rules) will be (the subplot and narrative are entirely different).

and so ,with that, yet another story line about a girl.

The Power of One

And so, in keeping with the scientific theme, another old and horrendously formatted (thank you final draft pro and Pages) script.

This is my “love letter”, so to speak to Japanese anime in the vein of the cut scenes of Final Fantasy 7. “The Power of One” is about a young wonan who had kept after the reactors that power the city of Tal Elib Vee on the Jovin moon of Io.

I'm posting another script because to write this one out as a book has been hard due to the nature of the main character and that I write in first-person.

Before working on AngelBlue, I had an idea about an android that wanted to be more like a human (wow...how original, eh?) but this machine also embraces Christianity and does not understand how people can be so cruel to each other (even with her limited "feelings" on the matter).

It did pretty well on the original site when it was known as "More Power to Ya"--based on a Petra song.

AngelBlue: Deadly Silence Beach

And now for something...completely different.

This is a screenplay...most likely horribly formatted and may not make any sense.
Also, when it was originally written, it was "scored" to Joe Satriani music and I borrowed names from the songs...not knowing they were already references to "The Silver Surfer",

Yes, I left them just as they were written in 2002

“The Best Damn Thing” Section 8: "Smile"

Smile

My father was admitted to the hospital and I, without any fight, was admitted into a cell at juvenile hall. I wasn’t as miserable as I thought I would be. I was held over the weekend without visitors.

Who I Am on Amazon

I have released the ebook and paperback of Who I Am on Amazon

I want to thank everyone who has read and/or commented on it, that has meant a lot to me.

I have had the idea for the story since 2001 and wanted to do more with it after I wrote it in script form but didn’t know how to make it work until two years ago.

Isosceles Love Triangles Chapter 1

E03EAF7D-000B-4D3C-BF47-8E15B2781325.jpeg

Warning: I haven’t touched this story since...maybe...2006 and there may be some issues with spelling (more so than most) and some scene shifts. I’m just trying to see if the story can be completed. It’s about two love triangles (or perhaps parallelograms?) that may end happily ever for one couple or for opposite members. I’m not too sure yet.

Soak Up the Sun

I started this one, like, maybe ten years ago and, like the main character, had very little of it completed. I wasn’t sure how it was going to go but now I kind of have a good idea on where I’m going to take it and I can assure you it’s not going to be stereotypical or the same ol’ same ‘ol but it will tell the story of a relationship from the other side of the fence (for lack of better words) and how that love story is endangered due to social media.

The title is not etched in stone.
In fact, I’m kind of thinking of switching it around

A Change Will Do You Good Chapter 1

A writer is only content twice in their life: When they first think of a story idea and when they receive a check for the book sales.
Unless they’re writing a series; and then it becomes a never-ending Catch-22 of idea beget idea, but it’s needed on page three hundred of book four and not on page ten of the second chapter of book two. That was my life for three years. It was my fault to begin with. I mean, I titled the series “Four Seasons of Love” with the first book called “Autumn Amore”.

“The Best Damn Thing” Section 7: “What the Hell”

What The Hell

I was ordered to move into my sister’s room that very afternoon and I made it my business to make sure everything stayed the way it was when she was there until I was ready to move or throw anything away. Not that I felt like leaving it as a shrine to her. No, it was just she had great taste and had left a lot of her old clothes for me, including something she called “the suit”; which was a skirt, with a long dress shirt and a tie.

The Best Damn Thing Section 6

When You’re Gone

The fight started in the summer before my freshman year.
It was verbally bloody and nothing was off-limits; no words were barred.

In the blue corner, my sister, who was five months pregnant
In the red corner, my parents; who were not pissed about the pregnancy but more over the fact she had left home for a week and never said where she went.

The story behind “The Best Damn Thing”

First off,
I apologize for placing small snippets of the story; but it’s coming to me in pieces that I want to try and share.

Second,
Thank you for everyone who read my last blog post and responded to it.

Third,
Thank you to everyone who is reading the story in its bit by bit format.

“The Best Damn Thing” Section 5: “Push”

Push

I spent Sunday morning in my bed.

I removed my storm window to break into my room and I then slammed my small dresser against the frame. It did squat to prevent anyone, like, say, John, from actually getting in but it made me feel a little better. However the good vibes vanished in seconds as what happened replayed in my head like a bad cut scene.

That feeling...

I had that feeling again today.

It’s one I’ve had since fourth grade...or maybe even before that-the one of finding a high point, anywhere and just jump off it.
There are days that I stay indoors and do nothing to just let the voices pass by...they have really good ideas sometimes.

Well, good is relative to the time that the rest of the world seems to be going to Hell.
And I know it’s not...it never “really” is (if you ask people around me)
But I feel it.
And, yes, I hate it.

“The Best Damn Thing” Section 4: “Complicated”

Complicated

Seventh grade was a time of extreme ups and downs.

I’m not going to bore with you with my yo-yo-in attitudes as I felt terrified as my voice cracked one day and went like a freaking octave lower. This quasi-baritone like voice (in my opinion) didn’t match up with the rest of me and I hated it.

It was also during this time that my older sister started hanging out with a new set of neighbors down the road. I can’t say I remember her name but unfortunately I can remember her brother, John, too well.

“The Best Damn Thing” Section 3: “Girlfriend”

Girlfriend

By the time I was in fifth grade home life was the equivalency of going to a liquor store: go in and get what you need, loiter for as long as the clerk can tolerate you before he shouts in a foreign language and get out.

Stealing a Twinkie or a Pepsi was optional.

“The Best Damn Thing” Section 2: “Innocence”

Innocence

The kindergarten teacher looked at me with a slight bit of concern but then her eyes sparkled as she introduced herself to my mother and myself. I didn’t think about it too much at the time as she invited me to go over to the play area in the middle of the room: model houses and kitchen play sets with small metal bowls and plastic foods; the classroom has more fake food in the refrigerator than we ever had in ours at home.

When She Stops Saying She Loves You

I will admit, next to “Mooneshadows” this is the most depressing storyline I have ever written because I all about things that in real life would probably kill me or at least find myself on suicide watch. I have the utmost respect for anyone who has gone though the situation taken by the main character.

Now, the chapter titles are, as always, based on a song title that ties the chapter’s theme with the emotion of the scenes within. And, yes, they are all by Duran Duran.

Unwritten Rules Chapter 6 “What a Wonderful World”

I used to talk for hours with Sam on the phone, usually on a cordless phone in a secluded part of the downstairs of my house as the phone’s range was very poor. I was okay with it as it was better than being tethered to a wall phone with a short leash or to a fifty-yard cord that tripped anyone up who walked into the kitchen.

When She Stops Saying She Loves You

“When She Stops Saying She Loves You“ is a combination of two stories I tried to write a long time ago but never had the subplots:

Jumper
Sun-Eyed Girl

The first one dealt with a family falling apart with the husband not sure if its really his fault or not and he goes to a violent extreme to make it all right in his mind (yes, the title is a three eyed blind reference)

I’m On the Outside: Updated

Spent some time today working on “I’m on the Outside” and had to consult the original book due to some the scenes overlapping. This book tells the story from Matt’s perspective, showing all of the details Jennifer does not know about and filling in the gaps about what happened to the four guys during the two year gap.

Working on a new idea “Stripping the Light Fantastic”

Taking notes on a reworked idea, originally entitled “Moonprysim” (yes, that is a Sailor Moon reference) about a club dancer and highs and lows of her job. It was never completed but I’m trying to see if if it would be better to change the gender of the main character and take it Down another path.

The first few blurbs of the opening:

When I was seven I knew what I wanted to do when I grew up.
I wanted to be a fire truck.

Seriously,I wanted to be a fire truck: drive around with lights and sirens with firemen to put out fires.

You Can Call Me Queen Bee Chapter 2: Lux 400 (Starter)

“Monica Anne Preston!”
Mike didn’t go with Travis and James to wherever the hell they had planned but instead he came home an hour later. I heard the truck pull into the driveway along with the slam of a single door and the violent entry he made into the house.

I had locked my door after I came home and he slammed his hand on it.
“What the hell was that for!”

It Can Only Go Up From Here

Finished the first draft of the first chapter for “It Can Only Go Up From Here” with 2362 words...yes, its about half the length of the first chapter of the first book and I may increase the chapter to kind of match up with the pacing and movement of the other book...only to counter the doldrums of James’ life to Jennifer’s.

The chapter titles are still Shania Twain songs (Thank you for releasing a new album), with the first one entitled “I’m Alright”

Back to work...

Back to work on “It Can Only Go Up From Here”. This has been difficult to work on due to the other two stories that are running in tandem with the storyline in this one and that the political climate is the same as the storyline I created over a year ago and as I write it I have to take a step back and wonder if I’m using today’s news in a story that takes place in 1997-1998.

Just gonna stop now

Having been told that my writing sucks (not from anyone here) I think I’m just going to put my tablet down and just...

I don’t know,
Breathe, maybe
Try to not want to smash my iPad into little fragments (I couldn’t do that, it’s innocent)

I’ll try to figure out what I did wrong with the story I guess.

Pondering title

I am trying to work on an idea I have had since the 1990’s that has its basis (thereabout) on an old game and a song by Demi Lavato but I didnt want to rehash the game’s plot (too much going on and legal issues) but wanted to use the feel.

Tentative titles: Lonely Nights; Give Your Heart a Break.

Plot: A pop singer and a teen meet in thier dreams. They’re not sure exactly what occurred on how they can talk with each other but they roam multiple dreams in thier attempt to stay strong. Both teens hold secrets from each other.

Leaves That Are Green Chapter 5: “Blessed”

Blessed

“How was practice?”
“We didn’t get a lot done. Too many questions.”
“Like how you survived against James?”
“That, and ‘who’s the new girl?’"
"Really?"
"It’s a small school. We take our news seriously.”
“Duly noted.”
