Madam Martinique's Finishing School - Part 1

There have been a lot of stories that tell how boys learn to become better people by being sent to a "special" school. There are some things about those kinds of stories I didn't like much, so I decided to create my own version of this particular sub-genre. Enjoy!

No Obligation, Part 19

As her first mission as The Advocate draws to a close, Becca ties her loose ends and tries to resume a normal life -- well, as normal as life can get for a fledgling superhero. But a cryptic message from the Omnipresence forces Becca to rethink her place in the Multiverse, and brings about a meeting she'd never thought she'd see.

Heroes of Justice

Hey Everyone! I posted Heroes of Justice some time ago but meant to include a graphic. The problem was I hand drew the base figure and scanned it to Paint. Once there I couldn't leave the Beep Beep Beepity Beep thing alone! I kept changing stuff! Finally I'm half way satisfied with it! I'm not a good artist but I'm stubborn to keep at it till it at least resembles what I'm envisioning. You can take a peek here. http://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/fiction/3807/heroes-justice
Thanks again for everyone who commented on the story!
Hugs!

Once Upon a Blue Moon

Well, Blue Moon is done. My first novel since the obligatory, bad, coming-of-age tripe I wrote in college.

It didn't start out to be a novel; originally I just had a cute idea for a short story based on the calendar and having recently re-read Lainie Lee's incomplete "The Devil in Drag."

A lot of people asked me to continue the story, so I tried. It turned into a serial, then a serialized novel under the continued encouragement of several people.

Thank you all, you know who you are. ::smile::

Keep Falling or What?

I've posted 42 episodes of Falling Off...... in almost as many days. Given its time frame, I'm aware that it is 'literature lite' rather than anything more substantial, the Beano rather than Nature. I'm also aware more people probably read the Beano than the more learned journal.

Some people appear to enjoy my tale of a seemingly powerless individual swept along by the demands of others, caught up in her conflicting desires and needs. Maybe it reflects stages most of us go through at times in our lives, when it all seems a bit directionless because the trees obscure the wood.

The Wanderer: A Bikini Beach tale

Eric had been walking a long time, going on Walkabout as part of his magical training. Thankfully he had found some money that might allow him to take a break. Up ahead he spotted a water park, Bikini Beach. Maybe this would be just the vacation he needed, after all the Tao provided. If only drama and demons would stay away.

Ida The Spy

Will the contemptible, way too curious Ida, from TGIF get hers? This prologue is almost guaranteed to confuse my regular collaborators, as it has almost nothing to do with the story they have been reviewing for me. Or does it?

R.I.P. Fred Saberhagen

Shortly after I posted "Berserker Chromosome" I learned of the death of Fred Saberhagen.
Fred Saberhagen was a science fiction author and the creator of the Berserkers. He was a great influence on my work. I am saddened that he will not be adding to the body of work he has left us.
If you haven't read Fred Saberhagen you are doing yourself a great disservice. It is worth a trip to the library. It's worth the money to purchase a few of his books. I urge you to do so.

Why an Alternate Reality?

Why an alternate reality? Why not?
It all started with a readers comment sent to me by Shelly shalimar. She read "The Girl Who Touched the Stars" and apparently enjoyed it, and sent me the comment to let me know. Now I get nervous whenever I Include a "real" character in my work, but Shelly was one of the residents of The Neighborhood and deserved a place in the tale.

Passing Tones, Chapter 15

I must apologize for taking so long between chapters. It seems real life has been conspiring against me, severely limiting the time I have for writing of late. I do promise to continue, although probably not at the same pace as before.

Pre-editor version - The Making of Nibs-Volume1:The Beginnings - Chapters 21 to 24

Chapter 21 — Welcome to the Festival Scene

On Moroth morning Darla woke along with all the friends at about 06:00BN, and soon joined in the hustle and bustle of people getting dressed, having drinks, and just generally making sure the house was ready to be left again maybe, for quite a while.
The twins spread the dust sheets over the furniture whilst the rest of the group was making sure that the house was clean and tidy.

Comments and Voting -- What Does It Mean?

I don't have a clue of comments or voting mean anything. I've written, read, edited anough stories to have a fairly good idea what passes for good writing in this genre.

During the last three weeks I've posted seven stories on Fictionmania that were also posted on BigCloset.

I'll list them in order from the best quality story, in my opinion, to the story that is the worst quality of the seven. I will list how many comments I received on Fictionmania, how many comments on BigCloset and how many votes on BigCloset.

My thanks go to Kristina LS for knocking this into shape.

I was a good salesman; well I think so, anyway. I had won the monthly best salesman award on no less than ten occasions in the last five years, so at least a few others must think so too.

Thanks again for Danielle and have you read Bob Arnold's latest Zapped?

Thanks again for you kind thoughts for Danielle. I've not heard anything recently, time will tell. Best wishes to Danielle and family.

On a happier note Bob Arnold is writing new Zapped chapters -- Zapped!-The lost pages. The first test chapter is up now at his Stardust site -- Erin has a link to it.

Stand Up - audio book

This is an audio book version of my story, Stand Up. It's about a post-apocalyptic world where individuality, even things we often take for granted, such as gender identity, is considered a serious anti-social disorder. One person has decided to stand up from the crowd. This is the story of her trial and her pleas to the humanity behind blind, staring masks.

Again an essay from the heart about what it is like to be transgendered.

In many respects I am a lucky woman. In the net I have a number of virtual sisters, daughters and nieces that I love and love me. I give them my love and feel their love in return. They are in the center of my heart and I hope others will join them. In this environment I am my alter ego, The Evil Witch.

Yay Metric System! (Edeyn's Birthday post)

Took a week off for my birthday!

Just thought it'd be better to let you all know that :)

I came to Kansas City Monday morning early, and I'm not heading home until late Sunday night, spent this week here with a friend so I could unlax (unwind+relax) leading up to my birthday -- which is today :)

I'm 32 today... :(

But I just convert it to metric and I'm 4 months shy of my 27th birthday ;)

Anyone else feel weird

It feels weird to have people actually email me and ask me when the next chapter will be done. Its like, I write to get out my frustrations, and other people read it. Ive only written 2 stories so far and both were well received, however I have a real hard time taking compliments so, I dont know, I just wanted to say it feels weird having fans of The Guardian Princess, but in a good way that I havent felt before=)

Gender & sex; pheromones & mice

I ran across a Reuters story on Yahoo News the other day, telling how researchers had changed the sexual prefences of female mice by altering the functionality of a certain organ in them that processes pheromones, the vomeronasal organ.
