I don't know if anyone noticed but the front page now holds only six days worth of stories instead of seven. Since multi-chapter stories are allowed only one entry in the upper part of the page and the lower ten or so spots are taken up by blogs, this means that in six days there are about 40 different stories going on at BCTS. Whew!

I guess that means I don't have to post quiet as often to keep my dribbling on the home page. What a relief.
That sounds like quite an accomplishment for the site... It has major implications for you though... And, more disk space is just part of the problem as you've seen, more authors probably correlates to more readers as well, which means more people hitting and thus more bandwidth consumed, a greater processing load on the servers and greater administrative headaches.
Good luck and thank you for bringing this wonderful place together for those of us who are reading, those who are accomplished authors, and those who are trying to write for the first time. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

How many stories?
Hard to say, but about 3000+ stories and chapters with another 2000+ blogs, forums, links, cartoons and title pages. Some stories are not yet on TopShelf but visits to Classic BC count in the numbers so those missing stories count, too. :) If the rate of growth continues, we may hit 6000 or even 7000 stories or more in December. I expect the rate to slow in the summer though, it always has. :)

I'll do my part to help....
I've got 15 part of a NEW story, in editing right now. Gwen is taking her time, to help me make it as perfect as it can be, before the "great unwashed masses" see it. And there's a hand full of fresh "Becoming" chapters away being looked over as we speak.
I don't think 7000 is an unrealistic goal. With new authors coming in every day, it's very easy to say that in the next year this site could double it's story list. Dare I say it? This is fast becoming the single most prolific site for our genre of writing.
