“Hey Doctor, we’ve had a special request come through.” Security Guard Flannery was pulling on a black dog leash attached to a collar around a young girl's neck with long curly black hair.

Dr. Heath turns around to the sound of Flannery’s voice “who is requesting the special request and what do they want?”

“Senator Biggs and he wants you to turn his lesbian of a daughter into a boy.” Flannery yanks on the leash. The teenage girl he had been pulling along on it, comes stumbling into the medical center.

Adrian’s driver, Cliff was waiting for him as he got off the train from Bristol.

“How did last night go Boss?” asked Cliff as he got into the car outside the station.

“I think she will go for it. As Sally said, she has a great brain and she looked pretty good last night. As I’d hoped, she has gone away to think about things.”

Then he changed the subject.

Adrian had worked late into the night following Maxine’s tip about things starting to move. He’d made a couple of long phone calls to contacts of his in the USA before going to bed.

“Any news from Georgia? They should be online about now even if it is a Sunday?”

I reached out for the paper, and Ken simply folded it, placing it into the locker behind his seat, where our money was kept.

That thought stopped me dead. ‘Our’ money? Ken was talking, and I had to make some sort of noise to let him know I hadn’t heard.

My job in Chichester was with an existing four-person research team. This was very much an ‘on the quiet’ part of Sally’s group of companies. My task was to add a wider perspective of views to reports that the others were compiling for her. She’d told me that once I’d gotten my feet under the table so to speak, I’d be given my own projects to work on. This made me feel both proud and slightly scared at the same time. On the way down to Sussex, Sally briefed me about the other members of the team. They had all been poached from large financial institutions in London or from Academia. They were enticed by London sized salaries and being able to live in the Sussex countryside.

Webster’s dictionary defines Speed as the fallowing: the rate of change of position along a straight line with respect to time over a set distance. In other words, the quicker you can get from one place to another. The question is what do you, when your family has spent the last two generations in search of ways to accomplish this goal faster and faster. Would do you do when the family business is the search for more Speed. For Robert ‘Robby’ McGuire the answer is easy. You grab your sister and strap on a pair of Formula One racecars then go for broke.

CHAPTER 8
It got a little frantic for an hour or so, as people in leather, denim and woolly hats queued up to buy all sorts of things. I had never seen so many beards, even if some of them seemed to be grown more in hope than in substance, but there were smiles hiding behind most of them.

Martin and Aunt Miriam agree that in view of their fun times on first base, they ought to slide on over to second base and see what goes on there.

7 AM on a Monday is probably the worst time of a week. Waking up early for school after a comfortable weekend is the last thing I want to do. My eyelids refuse to follow my brain’s instructions as they slowly shut. I begin to drift into slee……
