Police Academy Chapter 18

Printer-friendly version

Angelo couldn’t believe how long it took Katlain to find Mr. Holt after they went back looking for him. He sat quietly and watched as Katlin broke into Mr. Holt’s car and bugged it. She even managed to place a GPS tracking device on Mr. Holt’s car.

Once Katlain was back inside Angelo’s car, he looks at her “where did you get all that gear and learn how to track Mr. Holt down?”

“Can’t tell you that.” Katlain turns on the receiver she pulled from the black case.

She and Angelo sit and watches the building Mr. Holt was at. They ran the address and turned out that the place belonged to Elizabeth Sanders. She was one of Holt’s many girlfriends.

“There’s more to you then you are telling people.” Angelo wonders what Katlain was hiding.

“There’s always more to people then they let on, Angelo. You just have to trust people and hope that trust isn’t broken.”

Angelo was about to say something when they hear Mr. Holt’s voice coming over the cellular scanner, Katlain had in her hands.

“There’s no Freddy Harris here at the Sport Shack, Robert. No one has ever heard of him at all.” Joe had checked with a few people he knew that worked the Sport Shack.

“It seems that bitch cop was lying her ass off. Did you find out who she might be?” Robert wanted to know who she was.

“No one here knows her. However, I have the word out on the street, seeing if someone might know her.” Joe was offering good money to anyone who might know who she was.

“Alright, let me know what you find.” Robert ends the call and dials another number.

The call is answered after a few seconds “Yes?”

“I have another job for you.”

“What’s the job?”

“I need you to take out a female detective for me. She’s investigating the other job and I want her remove.”

“What’s her name?”

“A Detective Zane with the Augusta police department. Make it look like an accident.”

“Since this one is a cop, I’ll need fifty thousand dollars. Half now and the other half when the job is done.”

“Fine, I’ll wire the money to your account right now.” Holt wires the money to the account as he did before.

A dinging sound could be heard over the line “money received.”

“Good, I want her gone ASAP.” Holt really wanted to eliminate Katlain.

“Consider her dead.”

The line goes dead after that. Angelo looks at Katlain “he really hates you.”

“I don’t know why? I’m a lovable person.” Katlin looks at the number and noticed it was an out of town number.

“We better call this in.” Angelo dials the precinct they work out of.

He gives the number to their computer specialist so he can trace where the location was. While he was waiting for their tech specialist to locate his location. While the two are waiting, Holt is seen giving his girlfriend a kiss as he walks out of the house.

Katlain picks her cellphone up as she watches Holt get into his car. When the car starts, she presses the app button and kills the engine, while locking the doors as well. She makes a phone call to have some marked cars come and pick Mr. Holt up.

“How did you do that?” Angelo had seen what Katlain did but couldn’t believe it.

“Easy, I wired his car with a security device that allows a person to control their car. He won’t be able to get out of his own car, without breaking the glass.” Katlain had a smile on her face.

“Where did you learn that trick.” Angelo had a puzzled look on his face.

“I’m a gear head. Also, I like gadgets. We now have enough to bring him in and hopefully, we can grab his hit man as well.” Katlin wanted to get the bastard.

They watch as several marked cars show up to arrest Mr. Holt. Katlain was loving the fact that Holt screwed up.

“You know, this isn’t going to stick?” Angelo knew they needed a warrant or something to gather evidence.

“Really? The last I checked, anything intercepted on the airwaves is one hundred percent legal. Holt made a cellular call and it was picked up.” Katlain was going to play in the grey area on this.

“You know his lawyer is going to try and get the evidence thrown out.” Angelo follows behind the marked cars.

“He can try. As for what I did to his car, well. I can come back later and remove the devices I installed.”

Katlain knew even if they found them. She bought the devices under one of her many fake ids. There would be no way they could trace it to her. She just watches as Angelo drives them back to the station.

She's good.

I've got a question. In real life in the United States, can typical law enforcement agencies record cell phone conversations of typical civilians without a warrant and use this as evidence? I just did a bit of googling and couldn't get a definitive answer.

Depends generally not however

Depends generally not however under certain conditions yes in most cases however a warrant would be needed especially if they are having to break encryption. Although the warrant need not be public. and anything learned after that based on the information would also be inadmissible.

depends

Problem for many is that we lost several Rights when the Patriot Act was passed. Yes they can record and listen in on your Cell Phone calls here in the USA without a warrant. It's Land Lines that require a warrant signed by a Judge here in the USA. Yes it's a grey area, but still 100% legal.

The transmission from the handset to the base unit is fair game because it is a broadcast signal. The land line requires a warrant. Remember that all personal broadcast signals including encrypted ones are open to be recorded by anyone and be deciphered if they have the means to do so.there are also a lot of gray areas

Have a good day and enjoy life.

Love this story

This story is getting better and better. Thank you Lady Dragon

It takes a theaf

Sometimes it takes a theaf to get things done. It may not be 100% leagle, but not 100% illeagle either. Like they say the GRAY area of the law.

Dumb, real dumb

Rigging Holt's car then killing the engine and locking Holt in the car must have chapped Holt's butt. But what did he expect, a free ride to continue doing illegal activities?

Technology killed the only reasonable safe method to hire that hitman, using a payphone. But with most carrying cell phones they are no longer profitable.

Now if they can catch the hitman, they'll have two birds with one stone.

Others have feelings too.
