The light on my answerphone flashed a greeting at me as I walked through the door. Just the one message. I dumped my bags on the sofa and pressed play.

“Miss Raeburn? Doctor Marston here. Your sisters. I wonder if you could take the time to come and visit tomorrow morning. Rather urgent.”

At Last ‘A Life’ ~ Chapter 31

. At last ‘A life’
By Julie D Cole
Chapter 31 Fruitless journey

I was shocked to see it was my sister Julie who had obviously just managed to catch the train since she was looking disheveled. Julie looked at the guy who had made the remark and just said ‘Chicks are hatched from eggs so who do you think you are talking to?’

He shut up and turned back to his friends and then we carried on down the carriage to find our seats. Luckily there was a spare seat across the aisle because somebody missed the train.

I said ‘What’s wrong why are you here?’

"I would be quite happy to have my ears pierced," I state.
“You are only saying that safe in the knowledge that you aren’t allowed to have pierced ears. The ‘I will if you will’ trick only works on a level playing field,” Emily replies.
“Why do you think Jasmine isn’t allowed earrings?” my mother asks Emily.

Chapter 30 The consequences

‘OMG what’s this about?’ I answered the security questions although the caller did question whether or not I was Mr or Ms Taylor and apologized for doubting me.

Then I was advised that there had been some suspicious activity on my credit card and several cash withdrawals had been made in the last 12 hours from my personal cheque account. I was told that I was overdrawn that had triggered the fraud squad of the bank to become involved.

Tuesday June 26

Dear Diary!
I can’t figure this weather, today was actually quite cold outside! This became especially apparent when I heard Paula giggle as we were having lunch at the park again. I couldn’t quite figure what was so funny at first until she pointed at my chest. Both my nipples looked like they were trying to break out of the confinement of my, I guess too tight, tan polo shirt! How embarrassing! Luckily there were not a soul within sight but I still walked back to the car in fast pace with my arms crossed over my chest. I would probably have run if I could but the shoes don’t really allow any sprinting!

Sarah Carerra - 2.29 - A Friend in Need

sc2.jpg With a great amount of trepidation, I got out of my car and headed for the front door. Ringing the doorbell was almost enough to make me want to head back home. I hadn't had to face anyone who knew me as my old self in over a month and a half.

Chapter 28 First experiences

I could see her because of the street light that shines through the curtains bringing soft light to the room. Sally lifted herself onto one elbow and blew into my ear.
‘Can I ask you something personal?’

I looked at her and wondered what she would say.

Chapter 27 Dinner discussions

I was taken aback for a few moments and I looked across at Julie who was sitting next to Gary. Her eyes fixed with mine and I could sense her saying ‘be careful’.
I said ‘Of course but as long as it’s not too personal at the dinner table.’

He looked at Julie then turned to me and said in a quiet voice ‘Chrissy I hope that you don’t mind me asking but did you deliberately adopt the style and look of your Aunt Judith to try to please your Gran or is it just a co-incidence?

Part One - Back at home.

Marla and I hugged as we split up and went to our separate cars. I was playing with my new necklace and deep in thought.

"A penny for your thoughts, young lady."

"Oh it's nothing, mom. Not really. I was just thinking about everything and how everything happened and I just sort of got lost in my thoughts."

"Like what, dear?"

"Well, if all of what happened in the past, didn't happen, and I started to grow breasts, what would you have done?"

"I would have taken you to the doctor and had you examined."

Chapter 25 Special Short Chapter

Mum left the door ajar and I could see them through the crack. I stood still and looked in the hall mirror. I looked OK but not perfect. We should have come on a better day when the weather was warmer. My legs were cold and my tights felt damp. My nose was red with the cold wind outside. No wonder girls are always turning up the heating in the office and wearing cardigans.

Red Shoes - Part 1

Red Shoes
by KaylaKayKee

These are the diary notes of a young man whom after taking a summer job experiences changes beyond anyone’s wildest imagination. It also suggests that there may be magic out there, not in the form of dramatic hocus-pocus but a more subtle one.

And sometimes that magic can come from something as inconspicuous as a pair of — Red Shoes.
