I stepped out of the shower, smelling like the "Spring Rain" body wash I

A young acne-laden teen sat beside his bike and watched the workers run the slip scoop at the water's edge. At 14, he looked forward to the day when he could get a job like the one he was watching. A local crew had been contracted to dig out a portion of the river so a suitable structure could be erected to span its width. The bridge was heralded to become a gem for the city, grand and gleaming for all visitors to see.

Micah was well out of the way, positioned high above the working machinery. He was seated on the edge of the sidewalk which actually spanned the entire work site. He had always held a fascination with the heavy equipment, but as yet, never dared to venture down near its operation.

"Amber, what are you doing? Anything you could use to cut off your GPS
bangle, cut yourself or hurt others has been taken away until you can be
trusted, Princess. I want you to come to the fruit shop with me hand in
hand and we can buy some tasty fruit together, no need to wear a coat, it
is summertime and people would stare at you," Helen said, taking my hand.
"Oh, and the controller button is set on a 10 and I have it with me so
don't try and escape or call for help or you will get the shock of your
life, young lady."

With a firm grip Helen pulled me, her faux daughter,

Naomi had called in and said she would take the second shift, because she had to go to Belaire to see someone for one of the girls at the home. The supervising sergeant that took her call said that would be all right, and to drive safely. Naomi drove most of the night to get to Belaire. She drove up to a side by side duplex, and parked in front of Mrs. Peyton's residence. Naomi got out of her SUV and rang the doorbell.

I was walking down a tree covered lane, enjoying the fine early spring day. The dogwoods were all in bloom along the way scenting the street with their delicate fragrance. Chapter 1 - Naomi gets a call.

No sooner did Naomi get in the house, than she was told by Gloria Richards that she had a phone call. It was Dr. Garcia.

"I will b right there, doctor."

"Ruth, Gloria, I have to go back to the hospital, there has been a complication with Janice."

"May I come, too, Naomi?" Renée asked meekly.

"Honey, I don't know how long I am going to be there."

"It's all right, Naomi, I am Janice' sister and I want to be there for her."

 

 

I Began writing this story back in 2006 and posted it on Ficitonmania. Life got in the way of completing the story, so I decided to leave it as a single story. I'm really considering reviving this series (this is NOT the story I was alluding to in my last blog). If you think I should continue this series, please leave a comment saying as much.
