The Good Samaritan

Chapter 9: The Fish Caught

The following week was very busy for us, getting the new house ready to move in. It had four bedrooms, each much bigger than what we had in our old apartment. Mom and Bobby of coarse took the master suite, I got the biggest of the remainders as my own room.

The Job 55

CHAPTER 55
Life settled down for a short while after that, but it wasn’t exactly ‘normal, as it had changed so much. I felt all the hackneyed effects of the trial, as so many weights that had hung on me fell to the ground and disappeared from my world. To be honest, life would have been immeasurably better even without those gifts, for I had my man.

Looking at the glimmer of the embers in the fireplace which were now almost gone Garrus gathered his thoughts before heading up after Drew. Back in his room he looked around to find Drew lying on his bed, rolled together in the fetal position close to the wall, holding a pillow to his head, sobbing.

The Job 54

CHAPTER 54
I caught up with Deb in one of the little patches of green around the outside of the court, where she and Kimberley were wrapped round a sobbing Charlie, Paul, Paula and Candice not too far away, as the former high-flier-to-be puffed frantically on a cigarette, and I wondered how her addiction was treating her at that exact moment. Blake was at my shoulder.

“You’ll be thinking how lightly you got off, won’t you, love? Compared to the others?”

I reached for his hand, and it was there, along with a little of my resilience.

Chapter 55
Back to the resort and a bonfire.

Yesterday was crazy. Amy and I had followed a bunch of bent trees that led us to the rock outcropping. Then we followed some arrows carved into the rocks that lead us up the rocks to what must have been, no, was a sacred place. Then after we got back to the cabin and had dinner, we had one of the hikers that we’d seen on the trail earlier show up looking for help. His friend had fallen and hurt himself. Then the cabin became the base camp for a mountain rescue crew for a few hours.

Today, Wednesday, we were heading back to the resort.

Harry Potter and the Trouble With Neurotypicals: Book Four.
Or, "Autistic Potter and the Goblet of Fire."

Notes: Sorry this took so long. On top of my usual issues, I got a head cold that hung around for at least two weeks and decimated my energy to do things. I'm still not fully recovered, but I'm about 85 to 90 percent recovered.

I do not own this. J. K. Rowling does. This is just fan fiction. No money is being made. Not by me, anyway.

Notes: Okay, so I forgot the collective already knew History had a new teacher, and I forgot Binns was gone already, from Remus having been the teacher for that one the year before. I really need a beta to keep my poor memory in check. Anyway, I have now edited this chapter. If you read it before, you may want to reread it. Or not. Your decision.

The Job 53

CHAPTER 53
“All rise!”

Finally, our day had come. All the research on the home hadn’t stopped, for I had what Alun was calling my minions still digging away, but this day was for me and Charlie. Get this out of the way, and we’d have Tiff’s to follow. We were quite a crew, almost all of the team, including Sammy, with Deb, a girl she introduced as Kimberley, and PC Welby. The tension in the three from the house was clear, and I could see how involved Paul Welby was in his work. Another one of our sort of copper.

Ingrid sort of pushed it a bit too hard and she’s hit that whole wounded animal mode and she just curls up on the couch and Giselle just sort of watches and she likely wanted to climb in there with her but Ingrid literally has her back to us and herself buried into the couch.
Giselle’s world weary little hurt sigh’s kind of heartbreaking.
I pick her up. “C’mon sweetheart you come with me and we’ll take a nap.”
She gives me this sad and hurt and sleepy nod and plants her face in my shoulder.
Her little fingers are wound into my shirt just too hard.
I use my phone and I text Holly to tell Tay because he’ll never look at his phone right now and I set the alarm and slip into bed with my daughter and roll to my side cradling her and pull the sheets over both of us into the best snuggle I can manage.
I love my daughter...I love her so much it hurts when she hurts.
I really want to be the best mom that I can be.

The Job 52

CHAPTER 52
“I was never a real boy, and that didn’t go down at all well in Connah’s Quay. Not the done thing there; men are men and sheep bloody run away to England. I am babbling, aren’t I?”

“No, Deb. You tell it your way”

We had left the café, and the airlock room was cleared for us by the girls. I had sent Blake off to look at some more properties, just to get him out of the way while the older woman gave me her potted biography.

Chapter 54
A sacred place. And a rescue.

On our first full day at the cabin, we’d hiked to the fire lookout tower and met Paul Goodfellow, the fire lookout. In talking to him, we found that he had heard of something northeast of the tower. He’d given us a map and shown us the approximate location of where a special place was rumored to be.

After a thunderstorm had rolled through and we’d been visited by a bear, Amy and I had taken a hike. The hike that had proven fruitful, we think we found the trailhead of the trail that might, just might, take us to the sacred place that Naainish had told us about.

The Job 51

CHAPTER 51
I won’t belittle the real pain and suffering we were told about, but it became routine after a while. I don’t mean that we got blasé, rather that each case Paul brought us went through what was becoming a very smooth and practised system.

Each one was, in the end, similar, and as the similarities piled up, so did the list of ‘further to’ charges awaiting Dai Pritchard, Bob Evans, one call-centre worker and two civilian employees in Cardiff and Swansea’s control rooms.

I made it through all the Monday classes. Worked on what was becoming a full page colored pencil drawing in Design, failed to come up with a monologue in Drama, Played Exploding Kittens (SFW edition on NSFW cards) at lunch, and managed to give as well as I got in English.

I should probably mention something about Intro to Physics. Yeah, I should really get around to that.

Politics is like a river... no, that’s not right?
Politics is like a cess pit... closer, but no.
Politics is... is...
I have no idea, I guess?

Maybe we’ll get an answer to that question eventually, huh?

Events unfold including but not limited to:
John screaming,
Metal walls being dented badly,
and Hannah gets distracted at a bad time.

The Legion

A raindrop falls directly onto a boy in an ebony black leather tunic with hems and seams of shiny silver. He wears a belt of silver with a belt buckle of an eagle with fists crossed into an X behind. On his chest is a Velcro patch of a red shield. His face was smooth and pretty, and his body so small and petite that the tunic he wears was a baggy on him. He wasn’t always that way, but due to recent events. His body is turning that way.

The man in front of him wears the same tunic and belt. Only on his chest is a silver shield with silver fists crossed X, and a star on the top.

A certain superverse

Hey friends, updated this for later as I'm planning a romance story between two of the more fleshed out characters. I'm really enjoying creating this world and adding stories to it. I don't know what else I'll add but I have a huge ass world to play with and I'm excited to actually start the writing about all these places. I decided to go a more realistic root, so you'll see a bunch of new fields of study and possible stuff if this did happen. Though I'm not too sure about Europe being utterly wrecked by this, I really didn't want to write in them. It's hard enough creating a whole two nations and fixing a third. Again, if you want to add some canon into this, please don't hesitate on messaging me your idea. Most of this world is vague so you can play with it as you please, just don't get too crazy. Anyway, enjoy :3

The Angel of Chicago: Part 17

I'm sorry this is a bit late. I kept feeling dissatisfied and re-writing. It felt too passive. Finally, as I lay in bed waiting for sleep, I realized a solution. I started on it first thing this morning. This is the result.

The Job 49

CHAPTER 49
My alarm’s tone was slow to permeate my consciousness, or, to put it more simply, my body was in a state of denial. Loud buzzing? Na. I’m asleep. Staying that way. Which is why, ever since the second day of working shifts, I put the damned thing well out of reach.

The light was showing around the edges of the heavy curtains I had bought after my first set of night shifts, and I knew it was really time to get moving, but there was a bloody great arm across me.

Rewind. Blake’s arm.

Fred hit a ramp that veered off to the right and the helicopter swung around to be seen clearly from the passenger window.

“Hey, the chopper is the other way!” I said more shrilly than intended.

Derek snorted. “Fourteen kilometers of proper highway versus eleven through the Old Quarter and possible crowds? Chill. Fred knows what he’s doing.”

The Job 48

CHAPTER 48
I was home, in several different ways, including the return to my flat in Cardiff. Mam and Dad understood, just as they could see how I was healing, and why. Each day was a reminder of how the way my work is depicted on large and small screen is so completely wrong.

It isn’t boring, though it sounds like it should be, for it involves an awful lot of reading, inwardly digesting and cross-referencing. I imagined Sean’s boys felt much the same, and the closest experience I can give as an example is in solving a particularly complex cryptic crossword. Everything is there; you just need to find out why.

Chapter 53
The cabin. The fire lookout tower. And a hint.

Amy and I were now at a cabin in the mountains. And we were completely alone, except for whoever was in the fire lookout tower that was a mile away. And maybe a bear or two.

Our first night there had been great. In fact, we were awoken by the Sunlight peeking in the window.

I can’t help but breathe a sigh of relief as the bell rings to signify not just the end of the lesson, but the end of the school day, and the entire school term as well- and it’s been a hectic one to say the least. Obviously, I’ve been busy with schoolwork, and ballet, and cheer club too, but ever since the New Year, my life’s got even busier juggling my two sets of friends.

They descended through the thick pour of concrete and steel into the cold, dank chamber. Domino's light did little to dispel the shadows in spite of the small space. There, in the center, on a stand, was the bomb.

"It's smaller than I was expecting," said Domino, sounding relieved.
