I’d been home at Mom and Dad’s insistence for a few days now. They just wanted me to adjust to being home and safe while keeping me clear of my friends and Mattie. I still talked to them online but it was hard to not pull my hair out over the way that they talked.

Amy: “You’re like so totally getting like major sympathy votes because of what like happened.”

Stacy: “Oh like totally you’re really rocking it Sunny! OMG!!! You’re so totally rocking the whole like sick vote.”

Bouncing around the globe mentally must have really taken it out of me. I slept until noon that day. I lay in bed, thinking about the events of last night. I must have been dreaming about that creepy Shadow King. There’s no one–I mean no one, who has a grill like that.

There was a light knock on my bedroom door. It was my mother “Betsy? Honey, are you up yet?”

Part 9

The entire social structure of the school was slowly shifting due to Krista's unrelenting positive attitude and willingness to reach out to others. The spirit of the school steadily shifted to one of cooperation and mutual respect. Those who didn't adapt quickly found themselves losing status. Most were smart enough to ride the wave of change and fit themselves in the new social norm.

I’m a princess and I demand that glass slipper.

Finally! I’ve made a decision. Perhaps that was the problem all along, I couldn’t decide while at lower elevations and simply needed to be at thirty thousand feet in order to do it. I’m going to go for it and become a woman. I may never really be complete but at least I’ll be able to live with and accept my body as a female. Then too, I’ll eventually be married to Tan and go into training to become a spy. At least I think I’ll be a spy.

The Play

It's amazing how over life's courses that you forget many an occurrence that at the time were important to you. This is just such a story and memory, one from a long since forgotten time (but thats what diaries are for right?).

“Jessica”

“Yes. He caught me with her when I was about eleven. I was just putting her skirt on when he came into my bedroom.”

Years since I last published anything I wrote. So this is going to be a semi-new thing for me. Let's see if I can give justice to MELANIE EZELL'S BIG CLOSET ULTIMATE WRITER'S CHALLENGE, the first week challenge:

1. In the Blink of an Eye

idea: Write a story with an instantaneous transformation. Aliens, magic, weird nanobots, the method is up to you, but the change is instant. Explore how the change affects the character's views of social situations and day to day activities.

How I wonder What You Are

I spent at least an hour laying there in bed thinking about all this before Pam returned finding my eyes closed as I contemplated my fate. Some of the lights were on so she began preparing for bed and finally shut off the lights going to her own bed. I guess she thought I was asleep as she didn’t say anything and had only whispered my name a couple of times when she first came in.

CHAPTER 10
It was the first night in a long time that had passed the right way and I was awake with Ginny as she slathered her toast with some repulsive brown sludge.

That was really not a complete surprise. I knew some of the background of her death, of course. I had been aware of our odd resident, as I had sent a couple of lads past her place a few times after the graffiti, and I remembered that she had something to do with the local security scene, but I had never dug into her background.

I awoke to find the doctor standing over me. She helped me to sit up. I immediately felt the absence of anything hanging from my chest. The doctor noticed where I was looking.

“Yes, the transformation was mostly complete.”
