“Yes, but you have to do it correctly so that the camp doesn’t think you are a bitch, or a snob or else you’ll end up just as secluded as if you were back at school.”

My experience of men and I suppose boys, was mostly negative. They either jeered at me or beat me up. Standing here with Simon, I began to realise that he might have similar experiences with women, albeit, with less physical violence.

Upon hitting the ground, Lizzie Jane saw the huge head of the tyrannosaurus rex coming toward her very fast, mouth open with sharp 13 inch teeth. This was the king of the dinosaurs, which, with one bite from his massive four-foot jaws, could snap any backbone. She didn’t have time to get up and run. Even if she could, a T-rex could run 40 miles per hour.

She took it and opened it up, peering in at the picture of Mama that always smiled at me from inside it. Once again, just like every time I set eyes on that tiny image of her, I wished that I'd've had the courage to really know Mama. Granny poked at it, muttered under her breath, snorted once or twice as she cussed at it, then snapped it shut and handed it back.

My entry for the, "What It Was, Was Magic!" contest on Stardust.

I hope you all enjoy it, it was fun to write and think about the old folks back where I grew up, talking and rocking on their porches. Just barely over 2000 words, this one.

“You a good swimmer?” he directed his question to Erika as he flexed and stretched, showing off his six-pack abs and muscular arms.

“I can make it to the dock.” She started to the water’s edge again.

"Oh my God! I have a guy hitting on me! This is totally embarrassing!" Erika’s mind screamed.

As the door drew open I was met by a young woman holding a gigantic bouquet of flowers. "Are you Cathy Watts?"

I nodded an affirmative, concerned that she should see me in such disarray and with makeup probably all over my face.

"These are for you, are you alright?" She passed me the flowers.

I got to thinking about what Laika said about making a cluster of loosely related & not-necessarily-sequential drabbles featuring the lovers from All of You ... and kept thinking ... and eventually decided to give it a try.

Anyways, here's the original drabble, with four others related to it. I'm not sure what this would be called ... maybe a drabble series? I like Laika's suggestion of calling it a drabble cycle, but I'm not really sure what that would mean. Whatever you call it, please take a look and let me know what you think of this idea.

Shirley and Christie stood frozen in fear as they watched the giant gorilla, with Lizzie Jane in its grasp, make threatening noises and gestures. The question uppermost in their minds was the same that was frightening to Lizzie Jane -- Did a giant 18-foot gorilla eat humans?

One foot in front of the other……. One foot in front of the other. Swing your hips….. smile, like you’re enjoying it……. one foot in front of the other.
