How am I going to do this? Chris wondered as he glanced around the party full of thirteen- and fourteen-year-olds. A dozen tables stood along one side of an enormous, brick driveway and balloons hung from the stately, brick Edwardian house on one side. The remainder of the driveway served as a dance floor. His eyes roamed amongst the girls, admiring their clothes as much or more than anything else.

I take a deep sigh as I step out of the small clinic, my face tingling from the lasers that had swept their way over it mere minutes earlier. Despite my face being make-up free- and covered with a very patchy 5 o'clock shadow- no one gives me a second look as I head down to the tube train that ferries me to my next destination. Well, that's not strictly true, people ARE giving me a second look, but not because of the hair on my face, but because of the pink tights covering my legs, visible underneath my extra-short denim skirt.

"I enjoyed working next to the perfume counter. After I said that I didn't believe perfume had any effect, Sandy proved to me that this wasn't true!" Perfume really does work for boys.

“Come on, hurry up!” Katie urges Sarah, Lauren and myself as we stand in front of her long mirror, fixing our make-up.

“Oh relax,” Sarah laughs. “It’s not like the night’s going anywhere…”

"Someone didn't come home last night," Evvie whispered in my ear, startling me. Debra and I were in the serving line at the caf, and I hadn't seen Evvie sneak up behind me.

If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary-wise; what it is it wouldn't be, and what it wouldn't be, it would. You see? A sequel for those who wanted to know what happened to Grace after she went through the looking glass.

“I am the resurrection and the life,' says the Lord. 'Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.” I take a deep breath through my nose and stare over at my mother’s tear-stained face as the priest continues speaking.

I awoke the next morning to see my wife's (Beth) face twisted in a most concerned way.

"Wh...what?" I stammered as I wiped the sleep from my eyes.

"I think you'd better have a look in the mirror." Beth stated, as she rose from the bed and made her way to the bathroom.

Jessica took a deep breath as she tried to relax in the aeroplane’s plush, comfortable seats- though the discomfort her clothes were causing and the stares she was receiving from the other passengers weren’t making the task of relaxing any easier. Next to her, her Scottish lover was suffering from the same levels of discomfort as she fidgeted in her seat.

“Feel like everyone’s staring,” Paige whispered to Jessica as the aeroplane’s safety briefing continued in both English and French.

“Oh whatever, let them stare,” Jessica snorted. “There’s nothing any of them can do.”

You've seen those stories where the main character picks up a rock and suddenly has the power to make wishes or change reality, right? Yeah, this is one of those.

I had the awful sense that I’d forgotten something important and that made the fact I was lost even worse.

During the evening, Lee arranged a date for two other people, which is about to have some interesting results.

The next morning, Lee has another interesting day in De La Plata Podrido. With her visiting Eda and Yolanda. Then, Lee has a conversation with one of the most unlikely of individuals.

And that evening, Rock and Revy have plans for their group, as well.

“Double turn!” The teacher yells, and I comply, pirouetting twice on my right leg. “Point your back leg… And pose!” I throw my arms up in the air and grin widely as the music finishes, earning- alone with Nicole on my left, and Suriya on my right- a rapturous round of applause from the assembled students.

"Steve?" My mum calls me from downstairs. "We're heading out now. Don't forget you've got that job interview later on today!"

"I won't forget," I shout back from under my bed covers.

"Well you'll need to hurry up and get dressed for it!" Mum yells back before heading out of the front door.

The corpse was on the street, and it wasn’t my fault.

My journey started well enough. I managed to catch an angkot despite being around midnight, and after some fumbling, I managed to explain to the driver that I planned to go to Panggung street - I just moved, so I didn’t know the street name of my new house. Afterward, there’s really nothing to note. I read my book, the driver drove the car, and all’s right with the world.

“Happy Valentine’s Day!” I say happily, clinking my wine glass with that of the sexy guy opposite me. I’m dressed in a short, slinky black dress, translucent seamed stockings and extra-high heels (much to my boyfriend’s chagrin), whilst the handsome man opposite me is wearing a smart suit with a bright white shirt and a plain grey tie.

“Happy Valentine’s Day,” Stuart says, sipping his wine with one hand whilst his other hand links his fingers with mine. “This is absolutely PERFECT.”
