Part Eight

When I awoke I was lying in a hospital bed, that wouldn`t have been so bad but I couldn`t move I had been strapped down onto the bed.

What the hell was going on? why was I here? I hadn`t been sick or injured so what was going on. I could only move my head slightly from to side to side and noticed a drip that appeared to inserted into my body. I had no feeling anywhere the only sesations I had was sight, sound and smell.

Bob looked out the back door toward the old shed where he saw his father sitting on the family's rather old riding lawn mower. He went out the door and as he started walking toward the shed he asked, “You okay, Pop?”

Looking up, his father replied, “Guess that depends on what you call okay.”

“Listen,” Bob started, “I know it's weird. Trust me, I know. The thing is, now that I've kinda gotten to know her...”

Chapter 65 Drying out

I was grateful to Kate for accompanying me and especially since it started to rain as we left the surgery. The warm spring weather had disappeared overnight and we were both unprepared as we ran to the car in a heavy squall of rain.

Kate was laughing as she opened the car door and I asked what was funny.
She said that I’d soon learned to run in heels and was surprised that I’d kept up with her.

Part Four

Adrian was a bit of handful especially when it was time for him to go to bed, he seemed to get livelier but I managed in the end to get him bathed and in bed before seven o`clock each night.

Then it be time for either sewing, knitting embroidery or some other lessons in femininity, well we had a long winter ti face and it definately wouldn`t be boring.

Part Three

Winter arrived with a vengence, the first night we had a blizzard and woke to find the snow at least six feet deep.

We took the best part of a week clearing the snow to get to the livestock pens, meeting hall and homes with everyone pitching in.

Chapter 64 Doctors visit

Well the news from Kate had been a shock and I wanted to respect Kate’s request to keep it secret but I was aching already to tell somebody.

I felt that it was difficult since in my situation I realized just what it was like to feel like everybody was looking at me and talking about me. I knew it was my imagination but it was affecting my confidence and I could see why Jessica might react badly if she was the subject of gossip.

I always thought that riddle was cute because it fit me to a tee except you have to take 'the candy store' and replace it with 'a little girl'. So for the seeable future I have to live as a woman and a mother until I can get get back behind our own lines, wherever they are now.

It was almost two weeks before any enemy troops entered the settlement as they were too busy clearing out pockets of resistance and clearing minefields.

"How can this be?" Brent repeated for the third time. "We shouldn't be entering New York for at least another eight hours, did the Witchblade get us here this quickly?" he inquired of Ginger.
