His Inconstant Desire

Jewelery and slippers provided, Constantine glared at his image in the mirror. It was as if he had been decapitated and his head placed on some girl’s body.

Then I suddenly remembered that I was a little girl now and I felt all the joy I had been feeling drain out of me. “Or no’, I guess girls dinnae really dae this sorta thing.”
When I got up that morning things were different. My room, once decorated in brilliant colors, was now drab and dirty. I kept my room spotless. I smiled; someone was playing a trick on me. I sat up and found I was wearing boys’ flannel pajamas. OK, where’s my nighty? I got up to go take care of business in the bathroom. I pulled down my pajama bottom to find not only that I was wearing boys’ underwear, but as I looked down, I saw clearly that I had a penis!

“Issues?” I questioned her with a frown. “As far as I ken, the only issue I ‘ave is adjustin’ tae bein’ a girl an’ a kid.”

We were passing a shoe store when I stopped abruptly and said, “I wan’ tae ‘ave somethin’ tha’ I kin feel comfortable in. Mom said nae tae fatigues, but no’ tae some bloody combat boots.”
I spaced out for the next few days. Orderlies came in and changed my bedding, nurses fixed my colostomy bags, and drained the catheter bag. I got sponge baths, and they manually manipulated my limbs, so my muscles wouldn’t tighten up and atrophy. All the while, I sat there in a fugue. Things happened, and I was aware of them. But I didn’t give them any thought, and I certainly didn’t respond to anyone.

Scott "Scotty" Lewis spent nearly his whole life trying to Activate, but it happens when he least expects it and he is sent back into his own past to find that everything has changed, and not necessarily for the better. (This story takes place in Amethyst's Hyperverse.)

"She’s just a kid, you can’t seriously be thinking about giving her alcohol.”
She stood there. She stood there on the corner. She stood there as if time had stopped. She stood there not feeling the breeze as it stirred her skirts around her legs. She stood there in shock at the last words she had heard. Biting words, hurtful words that had no place in public or private. Words that could cause one pain and suffering. Words that altered those around them and tore down the very walls that we erect in defense of our very sanity. It was those words that froze her in place. Those words that froze her mind.
“-ooks like he’s coming around.”, I heard a voice say. “Don’t try to move, you’ve been sedated for a while, and it’ll take time to regain your motor skills after the surgery.”
Wait? Surgery?
As if they had heard my thoughts, the man replied. I assumed it was a man. It sounded like one. The deep baritone timbre of his voice sounded like one. I couldn’t see though, and I couldn’t open my eyes.

“Who the hell are you, and how did you get that information?” the General’s voice half growled on the other end.
The past few days had not been kind to Janey. The spell that she cast on Halloween night in hopes of becoming Bobby's Girl had come with a side effect so horrible it made her flip out + start tearing up her room, convinced there could be nothing worse than this! Then she was hauled off to jail, which in fact was quite a bit worse. But now Janey was reunited with her family + going home, so at least she knew she wasn't destined to end up in a cage in some Freak Zoo. But what kind of life could a girl who didn't quite officially exist + who wasn't completely a girl anymore look forward to? She sure had made a mess of everything with that stupid magic spell!
Or had she?

Dr. Emil Watkins sat in the doctor’s lounge, reading the latest copy of the Journal of American Medicine. It was a light evening in the ER at Hennepin County Medical Center. With the temperature hovering around 20 degrees below zero, people were not out and about, preferring to stay indoors. That suited him, the snow and wind had been difficult to get through on his way here, and he certainly thought that nobody should be out unless it was crucial.
All his life Ken Graham had dreamed of being a rock star. When that dream is taken from him he would do anything to get it back, but his new voice comes with a price.

Feral Saga Chapter 12 - Reckoning (Part 1)
by Nyssa
A Marvel X-Men Fanfiction starring Wolverine and Jean Grey
As we face the twists of the twelfth issue, we have split our tale of reckoning in two, for this part is too big for just one issue. Logan is thrilled to find herself still female, even in the aftermath of the changes wrought by her mutant healing factor and the meddling of Neural Net (and, frankly, Hank). While she never would have suspected the fulfillment and love she could find as a woman, there is a rightness and hope she had never experienced before in her long life, at least what she could remember of it. But now she must quickly learn how to deal with her new self, because thrilled or not, there are still many challenges ahead. Challenges that will affect all of those she loves, and perhaps the world? Magneto and Sabretooth still have Storm and the Uncanny X-Men are still reeling and trying to react with no idea what Magneto is planning.

I hadn’t bothered to stop until I was a few feet away from where the other girls were gathered and staring. “Wot the fook?!"

So she was going to be playing bad captor, big surprise there. “Oooh, I’m kinda wantin’ ya tae make me.” I knew it was risky to be pushing her buttons like that, but it was damn satisfying and I wanted her to be focused on me rather than the others.
A Marvel X-Men Fanfiction starring Wolverine and Jean Grey
In the elevating, emotionally-charged eleventh issue, we will find out the fate of Logan now that her guiding template has been removed and her mutant healing factor is running rampant. Will Hank’s miscalculation prove fatal? How will her friends carry on without her?

Tasha glared at me and stepped forward to put her arms on the mermaid’s shoulders shaking her gently. “Hey, calm down, everything’s okay. I’m Tasha and this is… well… this is some naked girl I just met and can barely understand who apparently doesn’t have a name.”
I often imagine myself as Grace Darling, the heroine, battling the elements, forcing a way through the surf, my hair blowing wildly in the gale, my dress sodden and clinging, but I am not a 25 year old Victorian heroine, I am Jack Armstrong, a 22 year old man living in modern times.
A Marvel X-Men Fanfiction starring Wolverine and Jean Grey
In the tenacious tenth issue, Logan will have to make life or death decisions. But each path will mean an end. Will she have the courage to carry on? Has Hank actually figured out how Neural Net transformed Logan and how that is affecting her? And what of Magneto and his plans? Will his ambush of the prisoner convoy be the key to unwinding his schemes or are they already too firmly entrenched for the Uncanny X-Men to defeat?
The day after the funeral, I got my mom to take me to visit Ken at the hospital. He was sitting up in bed looking as healthy as could be, and he smiled when I went into the room,
“Hey, Chrissy! How’s it going?”
“Fine! I wanted to come by to talk just a bit. First, I want to say thank you!”
He was obviously confused. “For …?”
“Saving my life, of course!”
“I did? Oh, yeah! Well, thank you for breaking my fall!”
“Her conversation was curiously, completely literal. All figures of speech, metaphors and use of idiom went completely over her head, and she never used any. I know she only read non-fiction and not much of that deeming most non-fiction to be implausible. She described newspapers as lies and fantasy and didn’t read them. I never saw her reading any of the magazines in the waiting room here. I know she’d never been to the cinema nor a stage production, and perhaps most curious of all that she said she had hated listening to stories as a girl. That was the only time she ever referred to her life as a child.”
This tale was inspired by a comment made by ‘Outsider’. Thank you, Dave.
To catch up … Chrissy and her mom have visited Claire in the hospital after a school shooting.
In the hospital hall, I saw Aspen Jennings. She always knew the latest news, so I asked her if she had heard anything.
“One student was killed,” she said breathlessly. “All I know is that his first name is ‘James’.” Even though it was bad news I could tell she loved being the font of all knowledge.
The heat was record-breaking. Most of the businesses in town were well equipped for hot weather, but the air conditioners at the high school couldn’t keep up and it was 80 ͦ in the coolest part of the school. Most of the girls were coping pretty well, as skirts and dresses got shorter and thinner. But the dress code proscribed the wearing of shorts, so the boys suffered in long pants while the girls managed to get a cool breeze on their nether regions.
