A journey that I learned from as I grew
I never chose my path in life, my path chose me

CHAPTER 32
He was smaller in the bed, but the smile was almost there. I had gone in with Darren, of course, the day after Albert had resurfaced. That smile, just the tiniest of quirks on the right side, and a tic in his speech that a stranger would miss.

CHAPTER 30
Ginny was on the phone a little while later, as Darren all but dozed in Chantelle’s arms, exhausted by his emotions.

I was out of the door as soon as one of the boys could fit my bike into the back of a carrier and drive me round. Steph was at the door waiting.

It’s another sad day for the sky is filled with dark clouds.
It’s been like this for many days, and the rain just never seems to go away.
Oh how I wish I could go out and play, but what fun would it be anyway.
I no longer laugh and I can’t smile, why must I live a life of denial.
Ashamed of what others might think, the pills still in my hand ready to swallow.
Some people told me to pray, but why bother, god hates me anyway.
Some wish I was dead, others want me to move ahead.
As the pain becomes too much to bear, I find there is no end to the fear.

CHAPTER 27
Merry was looking at them with a very practised eye, I realised. This wasn’t a woman flicking through the racks with a vision of tiered romance and fluffy whiteness, this was someone with very clear ideas as to the ideal wedding dress. I turned on her.

It wasn’t a bad Summer, all told. There was an awful lot of adjustment to fit in and fit ourselves to, and I have to admit I did miss Tabby. She had been my confidante, my only friend, for as long as it took me to find out that the last wasn’t true and never had been. I said goodbye to her properly, and packed a few outfits for her in her new home with the girls.

Synopsis: I’ve had a very strange and confusing life, and it’s never easy putting together the puzzle that had been made from it. Today, things are becoming much better, thanks to the people around me, but there’s still a void, though. It somehow continues to eat away at me. See, I’ve always had to pretend to be someone I really wasn’t, and I’ve never had a chance to really care about someone else. No one has ever really been close to me, especially when it came to my real ‘opposite sex”-you know, Boys!

I’m really no different from any other girl, and I have the same hopes, desires and feelings. I’ve just never really able to express them. Things are different now; there is no reason for me to be alone. Should I follow my heart? A part of me says yes, but there’s still that other little voice that says I’m really a fake, and not good enough. If I try to be the real me and share my heart, I’ll only get hurt. I’ve decided to take the risk; I choose to follow my heart.

A Sweets Life-Chapter 10

Okay, this is a little short, but it came to me pretty much as is!

True to her word, Candy was at the hospital as soon as she could get there. She found Danni’s room, and went in. Danni was weeping, and Candy rushed to her side and gave her a hug.

“You lost the baby?”

Danni could only nod, sadly, as her tears continued. Candy pulled her in as she wept for the girl. There was no talking for some time. Eventually, Danni recovered enough to be able to speak.

A Sweets Life-Chapter 9

At last! I apologize for the delay! Too many personal issues, and a muse on “vacation”. Hah! As if.

High school life tends to be a bit dramatic sometimes, and “cliques” form fairly early. The popular kids, the brains, the slackers, and all the smaller subgroups would be recognizable to anyone who has ever attended an American high school. There are always cross-overs, like a Jock who is popular and brainy, or a cheerleader that understands math and computers. This is generally accepted and normal.

Synopsis:   After spending the last four days in the hospital, I was finally released. I was ready to face whatever life was going to throw at me. Thanks to Anthony and Janice, I was also ready to stop playing the victim, and stand up to my birth parents. It would be hard, and also scary, but I needed closure on that part of my life.

They say you can forgive anyone, but the truth is, you can never really forget. I could forgive my birth parents for the crap that they put me through, but some scars run too deep, especially the emotional ones.

Of course they had to come round the next day for dinner, and that had to be arranged for a restaurant as we simply didn’t have the room, which meant a LOT of telephone calls to find somewhere that had space for well over twenty folk, and only the Parson’s Pig had space enough among all the office parties.

CHAPTER 16
There was more, of course, more of their voices and power, and I wept, but Eric was there, and Merry joined me as I dropped out of the playing, her arms a comfort above and beyond the joy of the music.

“You need a hat in His house, Annie!”

“I am not playing Saburo in some bloody milliner’s nightmare, Merry! It’s a meal for crumblies and a carol service, not a royal garden party”

The next morning she was singing, some chapel hymn or other, and I couldn’t help but contrast the state Merry was in compared to that of a certain camp-site morning.
