Have you ever found yourself losing several hours of writing to a power failure?
I hate it, wasn't recoverable either.

So I had to rewrite it, raw to the bone it is.
It also came out quite different.

So, if you don't like this version I will try to understand.

Kenny Odholm was a thug. His entire existence rode upon the backs of the less fortunate. He was a parasite of the worst degree. Inside Kenny's cold, calculating heart beat the blood of pure evil. He murdered for the first time at the age of thirteen, and his second was at the age of fifteen. His gang affiliations had not helped his cause, as they too had become prey to Kenny's brutal lust for power.

Many thought Kenny would meet his demise at the business end of a policeman's revolver, or perhaps by the electric current at a prison in one of the many states where he was wanted. Unfortunately, Kenny wouldn't meet his fate in any of those forms, for life had a much more cruel form of punishment waiting for the likes of Kenny. A slightly shorter 'chapter' but the action is hotting up.

Nothing much, just setting a mood.

I'm not good at horror, but this thought came to me and I was able to complete the story.

Cassandra predicts another attempted attack on Rose and her family, but something is different about it. Rose acts her age. When she gets back to school, she is asked to be an unpaid translator for a brand new hybrid, to help her get through the semester finals. Life is not an after school special.

Rose is interrogated by the police, then told to leave the country as soon as her father recovered enough. An unusual savior foils another attempt to blow up the family. But despite everything, Rose has to do her homework.
