Is This Real?

Or is this an Onion-type article? 56% of Americans think that Arabic numbers shouldn't be taught in school. 15% more are neutral. Unfortunately, I haven't actually found the poll at https://civicscience.com/ .

The scary thing is that I find it all too plausible.

Semi-Identical Boy/Girl Twins.

There might be a story idea here. Semi-identical twins, an apparent rarity, share three-quarters of their DNA, vs. 100% for fully-identical twins, or 50% for fraternal twins. While identical twins always have the same birth-gender, semi-identical twins can be a boy/girl pair.
Are these twins more likely to be trans? Intersex? Have a special psychic connection?

Congratulations, It’s Twins. The Doctor Is Perplexed.

Spironolactone

I know that many of you here are on Spironolactone. I've just been prescribed Spironolactone and I see it's primarily used to reduce high blood pressure. This has me concerned because I already take Atenolol for blood pressure. Were any of you on another blood pressure med before going on Spironolactone? If so, did your doctor alter you blood pressure med?

Thank you ma'am

Well, I've got to give Kaiser top marks again. A while back, I decided I'd like to explore a transition of sorts. While I'm sure I'll never seek bottom surgery, since I've retired, I have no need to wear men's clothes again. So in anticipation of that, I wanted to see just what kind of development I could induce on my chest. To that end, I asked my PCP (primary care physician) for an estrogen prescription. She referred me to the "Gender Pathways" clinic. After an interview with that doctor in charge of the and reviewing the permission documentation I got that prescription.

Warning about Tech Help on line

I was having trouble with my HP printer. I went on-line to their site and got a dialog box. They informed me that a tech would be calling in a few minutes.

When the person called, I was having trouble understanding what he said, but he wanted to check my computer. I reminded him my computer was fine and he insisted, so I relented. Soon, he had control of my computer and found the problem in my processor? He said he'd fix it, but it would take 60 to 90 minutes.

A Short Test Of Your Deductive Reasoning

There are four cards. Each has a number printed on one side and a letter on the other.

There is a rule - which may or may not be true - that every card printed with 'D' on one side must have '3' printed on the other side.

The cards are laid down. They show D, F, 3, 7.

Which card(s) do you have to turn over in order to verify whether or not the rule holds good?

The solution - and the reasoning behind it - is given at around the 3-minute point in the video linked to below.

Are there More Than Two Sexes?

This is the title of a program on The Science Channel I have been sitting here watching with great interest. The date is 09-13-2016
It is part of the Series "through The Wormhole" hosted and narrated by the great actor Morgan Freeman.
It is covering ALL aspects of Gender and Sex; and should be REQUIRED watching for all our politicians, religious leaders, and anyone else who has questions or believes TG/TS is just a fiction or figment of a persons mind.
The program has taken on theories and believe me some are truly amazing and have been found now to be FACT.

Question re. the COGIATI test.

Hello!

Tried to find this question in the forums but failed. I am thinking of making use of the COGIATI test in my newest story, which takes place in the 1980s. The character begins to question himself at the home of a friend whose father is a therapist. As an easy first step, the father digs a copy of the test out of his... desk or book from his shelves or whatever. But I would like to know if the COGIATI test existed that early. I don't mind "bending the rules" to make a story work, but this would be a bit of a strain on credibility. Thank you!

C# Last Lab Extremely Confused Due Tomorrow Help ASAP please

I am having a great deal of trouble and I am extremely confused as to how to accomplish the lab requirements, questions are not a problem.
I can't get the json part for the currency name to go through and I cannot figure out why.
The list view needs to be changed to the name of the currency instead of the currency code.

A Co-Worker AM Radio Story

I've recently been kind of engrossed with the whole idea of gender fluidity and a non binary definition of gender. I guess I've been thinking about these things my whole life, but only recently really started reading and thinking more seriously. The political season has lots of people all fired up and the supreme court case on gay marriage has got issues of "queerness" on peoples minds. I think something that really got me thinking about issues of gender was an argument I got in at work awhile back, this was last year when Caitlyn was in the news everyday.

Seasonal care

Once again the seasons have changed. For me its now getting cold, for others its been that way. I do wish that all my brothers and sisters are taking care to protect themselves from the elements. Dress appropriately for the weather(you don't have to sacrifice style and taste to do so) and make very sure that you're also taking measures internally. Drink plenty of fluids, one can dehydrate quickly in winter just as well as summer. Teas, coffees, hot chocolates are nice but don't forget juices. Vitamin C and potassium are vital. slips and falls are frequent so Vitamin D is also important.

Rise in numbers of children seeking gender identity advice

The number of children gender identity problems referred to the Tavistock Clinic in London is increasing. Interestingly, more girls than boys. It's also thought the wider availability of information and the effect of celebrity changers might be responsible for this phenomenon.

The ball drop myth

Ok, time after time I see stories with the protagonist whose "balls haven't dropped yet" and that either say outright, or strongly imply that they do so at puberty.

As someone born male, this always bugged me. Because I clearly recall mine being there as far back as second or third grade. Let's just say it involved a stupid dare, ok?

So I finally did some digging on medical sites.

Guess what? They normally "drop" sometime before *birth*.

A different gender binary

There has been a lot of discussion going around about the gender binary and whether or not it exist. I think binaries are extremely useful, it keeps things down to simplistic choices. Coke/Pepsi, Vanilla/Chocolate, Starwars/startrek.

But there have been a lot of people calling for the end of the gender binary. They say that life is more than male/female. I understand what they are saying, but binaries always make exceptions. That said, I find myself thinking about binaries because I have that kind of time and I think I've come up with something useful.

Sexual Assignment of Intersex Babies in the Early 1950's

Does anyone know anything about the medical techniques used to assign sex to intersex babies in the early 1950's? I have more than a passing interest in this.

First let me get a few facts out in the open. I have never really felt like I was a woman in a man's body, but there have been a number of psychological, sexual, and health anomalies in my life. Here are just a few of them.

Transgender Children from The Guardian

A sensitive article which tries to stay balanced, sadly some of the comments aren't. It must be very difficult treating children with gender issues. Well done the parents who do their best for their kids. I learned of one near here who's transitioned from FtM recently and his fellow pupils are supporting him. On the reverse I know of someone who is teen/early twenties who nearly went for surgery and has now apparently reverted to being a male again. It's a real minefield.

On the subject of mood disorders

I have been fighting cronic depression and anxiety for nearly 15 years, i have been trying to be my authentic self almost as long. Two seemingly random statements that bring me to the topic of this episode... Depression and T*ism.

From PubMedHealth "Depression may be described as feeling sad, blue, unhappy, miserable, or down in the dumps. Most of us feel this way at one time or another for short periods.True clinical depression is a mood disorder in which feelings of sadness, loss, anger, or frustration interfere with everyday life for a long period of time."

Get ready for a Little Chill

Researchers at Great Britain's Northumbria University believe they have discovered some information about the sun, which allows them to predict solar activity with 97% accuracy. According to their research, competing forces in the sun will cancel each other out, resulting in lower solar activity that will cause a mini ice age starting in 2030. You folks up north better start stocking up on firewood and canned goods!

Understanding men

Having been raised in a particular gender role clearly didn't ‘imprint’ for many BC readers but I thought that I at least understood males until in raising the next generation I discovered that the boys were like a whole different species. Today I found an old (2002) radio show on testosterone which pulled the whole who, what and how of sex, gender, character and identity beautifully into focus

New universe coming soon

Well its been a few years since I wrote something. Had a nap earlier and thought of a new universe. It will be called the Cromag universe. Parts will be coming as and when I write them and get Karen and another person to proof them, I may post a bit of it later on to see what people think.

If anyone else wishes to write in this universe they can do.
