May budget very tight

Last month's expanded goal was nearly reached so we carried the shortfall over to this month. The hope is that next month will be more regular in our other income. We have bills coming due and not that much in the accounts, I'm pinched pretty tight myself so I can't make up much in the way of shortfall. Anything you can send will be greatly appreciated.

The Crush: Josh the Mermaid

The Crush: Josh the Mermaid

“Huh. Hannah is certainly looking hot tonight,” I mentioned to Mike.

He looked where I was looking, at the girl in the mermaid costume talking to Darryl Marsh, and scoffed. “That’s not Hannah.”

Happy Thanksgiving to All

Yes, it is a US holiday, though a few other countries celebrate something similar on other dates but I think it is kind of a universal theme. We all need to take a moment out now and then to be thankful for what we have.

I'm thankful for the community we have here that stepped up and met our goals for the month with gifts. I'll update the Hatbox box later.

I'm thankful for lots of other things, too. I hope everyone has a lovely day. :)

Hugs,
Erin

I made my players cry

Early this summer I concluded the first part of an epic fantasy role-playing game. This was the third time I had run this story on different groups. It begins with the unrestful dead walking into town and trying to buy a beer.

This first part ended with the final death of a giant wildboar named Sourbelly who had swallowed an undead wizard's soulgem. Sourbelly had become unkillable while his flesh rotted off his giant bones. His mate, Sweettooth, and his offspring defended him against attempts by the players to destroy the undead swine.

Comicon

I'll be at San Diego Comicon International Wednesday, July 8 through Sunday, July 12. Piper and Cat will be keeping an eye on the site and I will be available through laptop, tablet and phone but I won't be checking in every hour or so like I do normally.

If anyone else is going to be at Con or in San Diego, maybe we can get together. I usually eat lunch and sometimes dinner at one of the excellent restaurants in the Gaslamp quarter or Seaport Village and can be found eating breakfast at Cafe 222 on Island Ave near the Con most days I am there.

Not Ignoring "Ignore User"

Since the recent upgrade, the module "Ignore User" has been throwing errors in the logs for the site. It appears that the module was not properly updated for the newest version of the coding language used in the rest of the software; it's out of step. Accordingly, we have turned it off temporarily.

We hope that the maintainer of the IU module will release a new version soon, but if he doesn't, we will step up and hack the code to fix the problem. IU is part of what helps keep the peace around here and gets a lot of use. We will restore it to use as quickly as practicable.

Da Interwebz is sick

Da Interwebz is sick. Not that kind of sick but there is a problem going on between two of the large backbone companies that carry massive amounts of internet traffic. They seem to have a fiber-optic switch they share that is dropping about 5% of the traffic that passes thru it. That's only about .005% of all the traffic in the US but the starting number is HUGE!

Off to ComicFest

I'm going to spend three days in San Diego, hobnobbing with some of my friends in the comics industry at a small con out in Mission Valley called ComicFest. I'll have WiFi, laptop, phone and tablet so I should be able to get online frequently and check in. Have a swell time. :)

Hugs,
Erin

Will five great guys turned gifted girls save the world?

An incomplete novel begun 2/8/2012

I'm at Comic-Con in San Diego!

This is about my 20th time, I attended the third one way back in 72 and I've gone to almost half of them since then. I have a few friends in the industry and know even more people just to say hi to. I always get enthused about my comics work when I'm here. :)

Having been a small publisher back in the first days of indie comics (we called them street-level comics), I get a professional badge and get to hang out with the pros and drink free coffee in the pro lounge. So cool!
