Murphy's Law : Book 2 | Red Harvest - Part 1 - Scenes 1 - 4

Murphy's Law
Book II: Red Harvest
Part I: Scenes I-IV
By Josie

Jack Murphy once again delves into the murky underworld to find a missing girl. Armed with only his dry-wit and cynicism, he journeys to a quiet little farm town called Waterston. It’s a beautiful place, renown for its cherries and the orchards that dotted the landscape against the rolling green hills beyond. But it’s also a world where the hunter becomes the hunted and where the forces of good collide with the evil cloaked in the myth and mysticism of an ancient belief.

It’s also a place where some find "the Red Harvest sinfully wild to enjoy, while others find nothing more than disappointment and regret . . ."

My name is Laurence, but I usually go by Larry. Joey is just a weird nickname I got saddled with, that everyone in the family but me seems to like--Livy's fault, now that I think of it. It's a long story, one where I entered the part of playing the role of Louisa instead of Kurt in a school play and suddenly decided to do something about the wrongness of me I had known about for a long time. I decided to be the girl I knew I was on the inside, that I've put a lot of effort into hiding from everyone, until now...

“Murphy understood the law and knew justice. He also knew that the two were often not the same. To catch the bad guy and win a confession, you had to be willing to step outside the box and take chances. That’s what made him a great cop. But that didn’t give him the right to take the law in his own hands. All he had to do was have a boy examined to confirm his true gender and now his mistake in handling the affair was going to cost him. Maybe his job? Maybe a demotion?

But then nothing in this case was turning out like it should. He should have seen this coming. He should have known that you can test the odds and you can test your resolve, but never pit your luck against Murphy’s Law. Because sure as the devil will get his due, anything that can go wrong, will go wrong!”

Petticoating Returns

Ladd’s Exchange Mall
by
Jennifer Sue

Lydia Ladd... the name sounds soft, feminine, even melodic. To many that's exactly what it was. To others, it is stark terror. She started life as the pampered daughter of a real estate tycoon, her idyllic life was gently and subtlety altered through the unwitting efforts of her teachers, friends, and family. Once she reached adulthood she was the epitome of elegant womanhood. At the same time she was also an advocate of women's rights, and did her utmost to destroy the male-dominated businesses that oppressed females. Her life became one of championing femininity at the expense of overt masculinity.

Symbiotic

Symbiotic

…a dry martini of a Fetishy cliché, a good dollop of raw home made spirit with a dash of insouciance and a twist of lime…

Symbiotic; a mutually supportive relationship… at least that's how I choose to see it.
Dependence and inter-dependence, give and take. One side or the other, but are we always on one side of the line? Does it shift, or perhaps the question is, what would make you cross?

The Naked Truth of My Life - Part 4

I found myself living with my parents again, only this time they wanted me to pay 300 dollars a month worth of rent and they still expected me to live by their rules. My sister had managed to move out and she lived in a ramshackle trailer that smelled something awful. It was a mixture of mildew and sulfur(from the water). She did her best to fix it up and make it look decent and the truth is, I was jealous of her.

The Same Old Argument

The same old argument raved again.

“Look, how can you not understand that I have always needed to be a woman?”

“You stupid fuckin faggit, all I ever wanted was a man with a dick! I told you 20 fuckin years ago that if you wanted that, you need to go be a whore or find yourself a rich man to do that for you! You sure as hell don’t fill my needs! All you are is a goddamned fag that couldn’t accept the fact that he was gay so he thought he had to be a female!”

The Chronicles of Mana

Chapter 1 - Prologue

This chapter may not seem like it's talking about Mom at all, but it'll make sense in a while, okay? Her early years were a bit…different to what most probably expect. I wrote this in first person, because that's the way Mom's diaries and journals are written and it just seemed the best way. I've tried to capture her 'voice', and I think it sounds about right. Enjoy!
