The Gamesmistress. Part 4 of 6

The gamers among you will see immediately that I have taken a liberty with the gaming technology of that time- it is a science fiction story, after all.

Chapter Four

The next day I was up and dressed in exercise gear when the guard opened up at six, going for a run around the suburb. When I got back to the cabin I got myself some breakfast before showering and dressing in sneakers, jeans and a colourful top. I then went over to the main building and turned everything on, making sure that I filled the coffee maker first.

I now had time to sit down and write ‘One Night in June’ for the band, Greg, five stars and two choirs. This would be the biggest hurdle to overcome. After about a week at getting a basic idea sorted, I rang Sarah and asked if she knew of a local composer who could help me with it and she gave me a name to contact.

Here's a light-hearted bit of fluff I came up with the other day. Descriptions have deliberately been kept vague, both to keep it nice and short (so I had more chance of finishing it, rather than leaving it abandoned!) and to allow your imaginations to fill in the gaps.

TG Techie - Chapter 51 - Playlist Announcement

I've set up a playlist with all the songs I've mentioned in TG Techie. In the cases where I mentioned a band instead of a specific song, I included something accessible from the band. The exception of course is Die Antward which does not have any accessible songs.

I thought that there would have been more references, but the playlist is fairly short. Less than an hour and a half. Not to worry! There is more in the pipe as we speak. I expect to get something out on Thursday. That will have songs in it, and the playlist will be updated.

The Short Straw 2020

Rita Soto came into the living room in her little black dress ready for her night out with her man, Elmer Rice. They were going on a double date with Elmer’s friend, Nathan, and one of his friends with benefits, Nora Mae West. The dress' hemline was high and showed her wonderful legs, it was tight in order to bring attention to her curves, and the neckline plunged to highlight her magnificent cleavage. She asked her beau, "How do I look in this dress dear?"

Elmer would have said she looked great in anything she wore. The man who adores her said, "You look great in it my love."

Lillyn isn't doing so hot right now.
She is pretty sure she has ruined a friendship forever.
But there is always hope.
And on every low note a high one follows.
When Besona smiles on her, it sometimes comes in unexpected ways...

Brad Tyler.

He had just turned eleven years old, and he hadn’t gotten much in the way of presents for his birthday. In fact, all he had gotten was a twenty-five dollar check from both sets of grandparents.

His dad, Bill, was being laid off from his job as a groundskeeper from the local hospital, so his parents weren’t able to get him anything really. He understood, and was grateful for the fifty dollars he’d received.

Chapter 14
How did four years go by so fast? Seems like just Yesterday Rose was starting high school and in a few minutes she would be walking across the stage to receive her diploma. Travis and Ruth smiled to think the entire family was there to watch, and not incidentally keep track of the active four-year-old and frenetic two-year-old grandchildren who were bored with the whole affair.

The Loft ~ Chapter 3

Sixty is not that old - Part 4

[Eight days after Vivienne’s disastrous Birthday Party]

“Come on Betty, in you go,” said Vivienne as she opened the front door to her home.

The Spaniel ran through the open door and into the hallway and skidded to a halt on the polished wood floor in front of the kitchen door. Her tail started wagging furiously. She knew what was waiting for her on the other side when her mistress opened the door for her.

“I can see that someone is very happy to be home again aren't you Betty?”

Chapter Three

Roland led me into the building, going past empty offices before we walked into a large room with eight people working on computers. They all looked at me up and down and I realised that this was what I would have to get used to as I could see a couple of the guys undressing me in their minds.

In New York we had a conference with Simon and his CEO about the TV show. One of the networks was interested and we made an appointment to go and see them. When we got to their office it was almost filled with suited types with lots of gold jewellery. I immediately asked how many TV executives it needs to change a light bulb.

Holly Potter - Heiress of Slytherin Chapter 26

Author's note: There is a very pivotal event that will be occurring soon (hopefully in the next few chapters) that has the potential to change a lot of things. I am (kind of) giving you (my readers) a chance to influence how the entire story plays out. Please comment or send me a private message to cast your vote. Will this event turn Holly dark, very dark, or will she remain grey? Originally, this was going to be a dark fic, but things are shaping out very differently than my original ideas. I'm happy either way it goes, so please vote.

Chapter 12
Luke and Rose rode for some time across the grassland until a copse of trees came into sight. Rose changed course slightly to head for the trees and they soon arrived at the watering station.

"Now that shoots that old saw all to blazes, don't it?"

A Song For Our Times

I am sorry, Helen, but your role model anthem just fitted another type of role model – that is if you adore Hitler, Pol Pot or Mussolini. The Italians found out that you never trust a politician who promises to make the trains run on time.

I am Donald

I am Donald, hear me crow
To all you morons down below
And I know too much to go back to before
'cause now I’m the big boss
And I cannot take a loss
No Democrat will show me to the door

Another Side of My Life
Chapter 11
By Julie D Cole

Maggie was in charge as usual, so she led to way directing us all the way to the platform for the Circle Line where we were to take a tube train to our next destination. She informed us that in case we got separated we were to alight at Westminster that was just a few stops. Jack couldn’t resist a leg pull ‘Unless you point us to the wrong platform and we end up going the way around the circle.’

Chapter 9
"Well, you seem to have a rosy glow about you this morning"

"You bet, Doc! My sisters clubbed together again and got me a new pair of breast forms for my fifteenth birthday. They tell me I have to keep up with the way my body is growing, but if they keep at it I may end up with the biggest boobs in Texas by the time I'm in college."

Chapter Two

When I woke up again I took several minutes to get used to my surroundings as all I could hear was the morning chorus. I also had a rush of memories of growing up as a girl in Phoenix and the people I knew. I now remembered my father, a building consultant, and my mother and her accountancy business.

Positively Patsy Part 23

Mary had been busy while we had been away and had organised a cooking school which was already under way. Greg and Peggy had been back a while and everything was under control. There was to be another one coming in for two months when this one finished; then a riding school, followed by a music school towards the end of the year.

Chapter 7
Rite of Passage, is a term used by anthropologists to mark a significant change in a person's place in society. Almost all societies mark marriage - the creation of a new family unit - with a formal ceremony. Becoming a member of a group, such as the military calls for a ceremony, and of course the passage from child to adult is the most obvious passage in our contemporary society.

James Fearon was a celebrated interviewer and political commentator. He was, unlike many of his peers, a suave, polished and polite man whose Friday evening videocast had an audience of tens of millions all over the globe. His style was unique, and though never confrontational nor combative it was brutal.

Professor Claire McBride was a startlingly beautiful woman. Her face was arresting because the combination of deep blue eyes that shone seemed to be at odds with her vibrantly natural copper red hair. She looked to be in her late thirties, but was fifty-one. She was married to a farrier and they’d been together since their late teens.

Chapter 1
Texas. Y'all know that everything's bigger in Texas even if we hardly ever say y'all around here any more; too sophisticated, I guess. One thing for sure: Texas is big. It takes two long days to cross it from east to west without gathering a speeding ticket or two. Hell, the King ranch at 825,000 acres is bigger than the State of Rhode Island at 775,900 acres.

When you live in the middle of nowhere, you hunker down and make your own entertainment. There is one age-old entertainment that never palls, thus Ruth and Travis Jordan produced a new family member with some regularity after entertaining themselves quite enthusiastically. For the first six productions they had to come up with a female name to use for the Christening at the local little white church house. Thus we have Ramona, Raina, Roslyn, Roxy, Rhoda and Rita.
