“Your hair looks nice,” he commented.

“Thank you, your friend Sasha did it… And the answer is still no. I will not let you go unless Dr. Barts advises otherwise. Stop buttering me up.”

"The Jeffers are lucky people," he says. "I hope that they treat their daughter well knowing that she is only on loan. We look forward to seeing our son again in a couple of months. Remember that we love you. Don't hesitate to call any time – day or night – if you need anything."

"Thanks, Dad," I say with a watery eyes. "I am looking forward to the job. I am also looking forward to returning again. I really like being a Quinn. I love you." I stand on my toes to give him a kiss on the cheek. I figure that is what a girl would do. It feels right too.

His eyes are misty. I've not seen that before.

Professor Prick 15 - Eastern Promises

I looked at Eddie worried that this would change things between us.

“So did he hurt you” he asked.

“No Lesley came out and hit him and I managed to sneak off in the commotion. It doesn’t change anything between us, Oh and promise me you’ll leave it alone and not challenge Gordy about it?"

He looked at me and said “Why would it change anything? You know I love you and care for you. Just please be careful Nikki. I can’t think of what I would do if anything happened to you. I’ve lost enough in this lifetime. Losing you would just be the final straw.”

Susie and Jeffrey 13 - 18

"He'll have his suspicions, but there's no need to worry - just swat him away, like any girl would a snoopy thirteen year old boy."

"I can't wait, Susie: it's my dream come true - a randy teenager feeling me up."

"I know, Jeffrey - and I promise you, I'll be doing that later."

'Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of feet on the steps at the end of the hold and the sound of keys in the lock. Abigail slipped her legs off the bench and slipped into the gloom at the rear of her cell. She didn’t know who was coming, but she had a good idea what happened to girls taken by pirates, and it wasn’t related to tea parties or puppies.'

Short Chapters: 20. Getting There

In this whole adventure I was never so conscious of looking girly as at this moment. Maybe it was because we were standing in near darkness on the shoulder of a busy highway, and I could see my little twill skirt flutter in the wake from the passing cars. Maybe the fact that my uncle, who was only slightly taller than me, was on his knees before me, and for once, now that I was looking down into someone's face, I felt a stab of pity mixed with the joy of feeling (for once!) taller.

“You ready for this” she said with a sly grin.

As I went to speak her mouth moved forward and planted itself on mine her tongue moving inside at the same time a bit shocked it took me a minute to realise what she was trying to do before I responded back to make it look like a passionate kiss, once more form the corner of my eye I could see the two guys this time mouth’s open as they stared at the scene before them. As the music stopped we broke the kiss and hand in hand began to walk back to the booth.

As we got there I said, “How about another drink guys, this is thirsty work”

"It is okay to cry a little," Mom tells me when she sees me holding back. "You are a girl now. One of the benefits of being a girl is that you can show emotion."

A few tears do find their way down my cheeks.

"The only problem with crying" she observes, "is that you have to fix your makeup afterwards."

She drags me back into the bathroom, where she shows me how to touch up my makeup from the repair kit found in the purse.

They wandered over to the queue for the tickets and waited.

“Whoa, is that ‘The Plague’ interacting with our cheerleader?” a voice called.

Eric tried to control a chill that wracked his body as his mind screamed to make himself small and unnoticeable.

“Is this creep bothering you, Sam?”

“Greg, he’s not a creep, just leave us alone,” Samantha snapped back.

I look over at mom for answers. I see that she is smiling.

"You look beautiful sweetheart." She says. "Too bad it is time to give you to someone else for a season."

It is time for answers. I just hope that the answers don't lead to more questions!

As we say good night, I notice that she is wearing a new necklace. I don't know why I hadn't noticed it earlier. I guess that I am not all that observant at times. Anyway the necklace looks disturbingly familiar. Hanging from a delicate gold chain around her neck is a gold colored charm in the shape of a running shoe.

As I look at it, she says “It reminds me of you,”

and winks at me before heading inside.

I woke up feeling good. Better than good even, I felt great. Was I in heaven? I don’t think I should be, they say suicides go straight to hell. But if I was in hell, why did I feel so good? Hell wasn’t supposed to feel good... hell was supposed to feel… well, like hell I guess.

Chapter 9: All alone

I stumbled out of bed. I was a wreck. I hadn’t been able to sleep at all, all I’d been able to think about was Joanne. I needed to pull myself together. I got up, brushed my teeth and took my pills. I went through all the motions, but my heart really wasn’t in it.
