“We have to get out of here, now!

“You think they’ll come here?”

“The alarm indicated that we’ve lost connection to the base. Those pictures were recorded yesterday. I think the base is gone and we’re next!”

 
 
"Mad?"

"Drewbie."

"Any news?"

"I guess if no news is good news, it's good news."

The caravan leaves Tranidor on the last stage of the company's journey to Blackstone. All goes well until Garia spots something that has to be investigated... which leaves her literally in a mess. A chance find and a mellow evening around the campfire help to restore calm to the travelers.

Emily couldn’t keep from smiling through most of the morning. The breakfast and the coffee on the bus was such a pleasant surprise for her that it still made her feel a warm and happy feeling inside.

It really sort of took the things she’d been feeling too about Kira and sort of framed them in her head in a new way. She knew that she might be crushing on Kira. But there’s a big difference between knowing that you’re crushing on someone and doing anything about it.

Sorry this has been a long time coming. Life has really been busy!

“Hey, sorry I’m late,” I said as we hugged. “So I’m not going to lie; I’m way out of my element here,” I teased. Allison giggled as she led me over to where Joe and Jane were standing.

“Oh, I don’t expect you to shoot unless you want to take a gun safety class first,” she said, wrapping her arm around my shoulders. “I just wanted you to come down so you wouldn’t worry about me going all gun crazy or anything. Actually, I was hoping to talk to you first, before I talk to Nikki and Jenn. I’m glad Jane’s here too though because I could use her input.”

Nightmares of fire, of burning aren’t helping me and the fact that they said that someone had set me on fire?

CHAPTER 8

We went into Rosco’s cabin and sat down. Lilly turned to me and spoke in an intense voice.

“OK, what’s really going on here?”

I put up my hands.

“The truth is I am here totally by accident. I was testing a device at some ruins on Prowhiness and, the next thing I knew, I was here.”

We broke up to head for the rest rooms and the cars. I availed myself of the Ladies room discovering I had it all to myself. I did my duty then washed my hands and checked my makeup, lipstick and clothing. I took a couple of minutes to quickly brush out my hair again before I pulled out a scrunchie to put it up into a ponytail. I was beginning to love my rabbit fur jacket, it had been a good purchase, dressy but casual, not to mention - warm, even if I was out in the wintery cold. My ponytail hung down just enough to help the jacket keep the back of my neck warm but when indoors I would be cooler than if my hair hung down covering my neck and upper back. Ten of us piled into two of the rentals then headed for the airport while the other four guys George specified took the third rental car back to the Lodge to acquire our Armored limo before following us to the airport.

Drew slept fitfully, thoughts of Helen and of Japan kept him from sleep and it was sheer exhaustion which finally took him into the land of nod.

"You getting up , spud?" Dave called up.

"Eh?"

"It's nearly seven."

“All right Harper or what ever you are, come on out or we’ll burn the house down!”

I turned to the woman (I don’t even know her name).

“It’s Slago! I guess I’ll give myself up. I’m not going to get you involved.”

She looked thoughtful.

“We’ll just get rid of your disguise and walk out together.”

“Huh!”

A problem with a wheel causes a delay for Garia and her party, resulting in a number of questions being raised - including a terrible dilemma for Garia and Keren. While they wait for the wagon to be fixed Snep decides to show Garia what he can do for her. The party are forced to spend an extra night at the next stop on their journey to Blackstone.

Given that Drew wasn't actually interested and his mind was elsewhere the fact that Con managed to outfit Bond junior at all was amazing, into a particularly figure hugging and girly dress with more than a little decollotage on view and some stupidly tarty shoes was pretty impressive.

I’m shaking still a little as I head out of the girls bathroom down to the game and I’m dressed in a pair of those tight high riding shorts that the team is wearing and one of their jersey’s and some sneakers and I head out to the playing field and watch the girls play and I’m yelling and cheering for them running along the side lines sometimes getting my mind off the whole WTF moment.

I mean Frank sexually assaulted me but when I fought back and took control it was like he just became someone else and that person wasn’t like anyone I’ve ever heard of before.

I’d like to say that John was the guy.

That guy that if you’re transgendered and straight you’ve been looking for, the guy that I guess that all girls are looking for and while john’s a really nice guy. Sweet and smart, soulful and artistic and just a really, really decent guy.

He’s not that guy.

He’s a good lover and he’s attentive and demanding both and he’s fun but I don’t know? It could be the fact that why there’s chemistry between us it’s like making supper or even a romantic meal he’s not the guy that takes my breath away.

And I know, I know that that person might actually not even exist out there for me but I’ve made my choices. I’m looking for that person. I want a life.
