Mantra (Malibu Comics) finally sees her imprisoned son Gus, but he's in a jam that she can't get him out of. One can forgive her if she thinks that things can't get any worse. Bit the fact is, they can, and they often do.

Mantra (Malibu Comics) receives a call that she has been both hoping for and dreading. She has been summoned to a visit with her son Gus, who by a strange stroke of fate has become a very dangerous ultra villain. Gus has been the most powerful adversary that Mantra has ever faced. His destructive deeds, followed by his capture by the ruthless Aladdin organization, has destroyed Mantra's superhero career and brought intense sorrow to what has been a happy family.

I was planning my next crime when I got a call, from a superhero, of all people.

True North was almost a stereotype of a Canadian - unfailingly polite, but a stickler for law and order.

I was so shocked by what he asked me - to meet him for tea and conversation - that I forgot to be shocked about how he knew my number.

So I said yes, we arranged a time, and he took me to his arctic base.

Mantra (Malibu Comics) has a very large hole in her memory. She has to talk to her teenage friend, Lauren Sherwood, who knows a lot about what she needs to find out. Lauren is in a good position to know, because for the last few days she's been the one and only Mantra of Canoga Park.

As it turned out, they were too late. Even as they were trying to arrange for a watch on Cong, an alert came in from the base hangar that the strongman had taken a hopper with no explanation. He launched at full throttle, too, bringing noise complaints from several fronts.

"We better get after him," said Mesa, with a tired sigh, when Steel Lace used their personal coms to tell him about this.

"He didn't file a flight plan, but I don't think there's any doubt where he's going."

"Well, we have other hoppers."

Part Six

Bless modern technology, thought Vic, as her brilliant phone found a useable cell tower and connected, in spite of being on an island in a lake in a large park. The only place she had found to get a signal was standing on the front porch of the old house. Something the FBI agents had told her about. As she waited for someone to answer, she watched the sun moving slowly towards the mountain to the west. She hadn't thought to call her office until late in the working day for the office in Detroit. Partly because there was still plenty of daylight here.

Back in San Francisco, the trio made their report. Steel Lace was both fascinated and irritated.

"I need to contact the Park Service about this, soonest," she said, after the exploration team finished. "This will probably be a multi-agency project. At the very least, the FBI needs to send a forensics team there to figure out just what the Hell happened."

"The Park Service probably won't like that," said Tiger, with a smirk.

"I just don't get it," Bella says.

"We will catch them," Bruce says, "it will just take time."

"And how many girls will die before then?" Bella says accusatorily, "sorry. It's not your fault. It's just so frustrating."

"I just had a talk with the director there and she was very glad - if a bit startled - to hear the explanation for what happened. They were thinking someone had stolen one of their subjects."

He laughed.

I find that drawing soothes my nerves. Painting takes time and I have to get it set up, but drawing is easy with just paper and pen, I can let my mind go and doodle. Sometimes I’m working on a picture. Sometimes drawing comics. Sometimes I just doodle. Right now, I’m currently making a really fucked up piece of art while I cry my eyes out for the umpteenth time. Oh boy, am I emotional. I don’t think I’ve ever been this emotional in my life. I’d cried sure, but never for this long. I don’t even know what I’m drawing to be honest, all the tears are staining the paper.
