Part Nine

Vic was trying something she had read about once. Starting a little less than an hour before class, with only a worried Michelle present, she climbed nimbly to the top of one of the basketball goals. Vic paused for a moment, balanced easily on the balls of her bare feet, eyes closed, at one end of the backboard. She had learned from a trial that the rim wasn't stiff or strong enough for what she wanted. Largely because of the flexible attachment.

She let herself fall forward, then pushed off and dove headfirst towards the hardwood floor. Eyes still closed.

Part Five

At the Detroit Metro Airport the next day there was still one surprise for Michelle, though it was a minor one.

"'Victoria'?" said Michelle, looking over Vic's shoulder as her wife checked their luggage. "Oh, right; you changed it when we got married. I'm so used to everyone just calling you 'Vic' I forgot."

"Yielding as gracefully as I can to the inevitable," said Vic, a bit pompously.

Part Three

A small hatch opened in the large, heavy door. Someone barely seen peered out.

"Are you one of Chuck's Children?" asked the low, gravelly voice.

"Rock and roll never forgets," proclaimed Vic, boldly.

"Enter," said the voice, as the door slowly opened with an ominous creak.

Due to a long history of oppression and harassment, most supers in the Masks world have a separate, costumed identity for using their powers. Vic, unfortunately, does not have that option.

Part One

Dozens of hands were grabbing Alexander, long nails claws at his hair and clothes trying to get a grip. The vines attached to the hand encircled him like snakes, their thorns scraping along his skin, drawing blood.

After the superhero Curador and his more experienced partner are captured by the evil Dr. Quasi, the demented genius subjects them to bizarre and horrifying experiments to satisfy his thirst for knowledge—as well as his own lascivious desires. With the roar of flames from her hands and the dying howls of the werewolf, Flamer almost didn't hear Alexander scream. Looking away, she saw him fall through a portal that closed a split second later.

“What did you do?!” she shouted at Dwayne.

Necromantra's plans fall apart due to an act of treachery out of left field. The chaos places her stepdaughter at great risk and it's up to her to prevent a tragedy.

“So this is it?” Dela said, looking anywhere but the crack in the wall.

“Unless you want to start drinking your own pee, yeah,” Flamer replied. The cadet was tying the last loop in their makeshift rope, it would keep the crack in reality from vanishing and separating them when they went through.

The Desert

The impact was so much worse than Cameron could have ever imagined.

Montreal, Quebec

Opening his eyes, Alexander gingerly sat up on the sofa. His back didn't hurt nearly as much as it had, but he still winced as his bruised and battered muscles let him know they weren't healed. He saw the teen named Dwayne, asleep in a large armchair, his head drooped forward. Muffled snoring came through the wall, that was probably Samantha. He felt Dela deeply asleep in his head.

Necromantra sees that the war at Ulik is moving toward disaster. On top of it, the state of her power level is low and she needs to kill again to increase her magical capacity. Further, the witch needs help, but finding a reliable ally is difficult amid the chaotic situation at the siege lines. She decides that her best option is to recruit the female warrior whom has so far impressed her.

Abbotsford, BC

“You’ve got to be kidding!”

“What?” Retorted the big man, turning in his seat to stare at the boy sitting beside him, “You said you needed to get to Alberta to spend time with your girlfriend.”

Despite her fear, Dela was finding it hard to stay upright. Even kneeling was getting difficult and she desperately wanted to lay down, only willpower kept her from shaking like a leaf from exhaustion. Worse yet, she felt her grip loosening on her body. She didn't know what would happen if she switched before she could explain her condition to Grenadier, but it probably wouldn't be good.

Alexander

Watching through Dela's eyes, Alexander kept his metaphorical mouth shut, and tried to stay calm. The situation should have been impossible, but it was happening, so he had to deal with it.

Dela was looking all around, first at Huginn and Muninn, then the guards, and then the surrounding area. 'Think of something,' she thought to him.

“You shouldn't think of anything,” Huginn said.

Dela felt Alexander fall to his knees in the real world. She couldn't blame him, sobs wracked her imaginary body, they shouldn't be here, they couldn't be here.

Alexander

Necromantra (Malibu Comics) has agreed to become the pawn of an evil non-human king in order to save the life of her stepdaughter. But there is intrigue afoot, and events are drawing Necromantra into it. In fact, she wants to get involved, as long as it allows her to protect Arielle from the new dangers that are arising.
