Survival and Sacrifice

When a plane crashes on an uninhabited Caribbean island, a young man does what he can to help the other survivors. This one goes into some pretty dark places and gets a bit graphic, so be warned.

Furthest Shore

We cast our words out upon the wide digital sea not knowing where the ebb and flow of electrons may take them. The words we write maybe forgotten or they might bring a smile to brighten another’s day. Standing by the sea, I wonder if I will ever know. Soon I’ll wander back to my worn keyboard, for there are more stories yet to be told. For now I am content to walk the sands, looking for signs of others that have tossed their own words upon the ocean waves trusting in fate and surf to wash them to the furthest shore.

Crossed Purposes

A bit of fun on the First of May. That's what everyone seemed to think, well mostly,
but is what you see always what is there?

I started this when the competition was announced. Time and stuff got in the way but I wanted to. Then it morphed and became something totally different. The title changed so this weekend being rainy and miserable I sat and figured out what it was. We shall see…

The Butterfly Project

She knocked on his bedroom door. Not hearing an answer, she pushed the door slightly, calling him a few times. When there was no reply, she pushed open the door widely and her eyes fell on the disgusting looking thing on the bed. It looked just like a butterfly's cocoon, except that this one was as large as a man and definitely didn't contain a butterfly. She got closer to the bed. Touching the fluid leaking from the empty chrysalis, she noted that the fluid had almost dried, suggesting that this chrysalis had been empty for at least a few hours.

"Sir?" she called again.

She opened the bedside drawer, removing the Glock 17 inside it, just in case. Readying herself, she got out of the bedroom, the gun pointing downward and called for him again. She may not be a field specialist, but she didn't spend two years as the Headmaster's secretary without picking up new skills.

The High Priest stepped up to the microphone.

"Everyone, please listen up. The Beltane ritual tonight is going to be a bit different. Normally as you know the females are the receptors and the males are the givers in the Great Rite, but this time we are going to reverse it. Tonight, the High Priestess is going to hold the Athame, and I'm going to hold the Chalice.

"Further, the decoration of the Phallus," there was some slight chuckling from the audience, "is also going to be reversed. The men will be going sunwise, and the women anti-sunwise. The steps are the same, but it is going to take some concentration to keep your mind on the parts.

"Other than that the ritual is exactly the same. Thank you."

Meriel should have died from the tidal wave that destroyed her yacht.

The Forest

OK, so I thought I would try my hand at something different. The Floral Tales will resume shortly if you are interested, but I had to get this one out.

Once again, apologies for any typos, hope you like - J

“For in each delve and greenwood,

Far wiser creatures play,

And in their depths and sinews,

Live the gods of yesterday.”
