Cynthia and the Wonderful Corrections - Prologue

Cynthia and the Wonderful Corrections - Prologue

By Portia Bennett

Introduction: This story is the fourth and final story in a series within a series. The overall series is the “Cynthia Chronicles”. This story is directly connected to “Simoné and the Second Time Around”, “Marti and the Doppelganger”, and Marti and the Doppelganger – a Follow Up”. Several of the stories in the Cynthia Chronicles left some unanswered questions. In “Bobbie and the Glass Ceiling” two of the antagonists are regressed to childhood. Now we will learn what happened to them. In “Randi and the College Professor” Randi and Frank Deere adopt Betty, a bit of a rogue witch. Betty was regressed to early childhood, but she kept her powers. As it turns out, Betty was a real blessing. We also learn a bit more about Cindy’s first born who is the first new wizard in probably close to a thousand years. Then there is a question that has been floated about. What about death?

We will briefly go back to the day Bobbie Anderson won the Master’s. This episode was extracted from “Bobbie and the Glass Ceiling.” The main story will pick up from that point.

Marti and the Doppelganger – A Follow Up, or What Happened to Those Raccoons, Anyway Chapter 10

CHAPTER 10 – Getting Close to Graduation at the CIA

By Portia Bennett

Introduction: This story is the third, the penultimate, in a series within a series. The overall series is the “Cynthia Chronicles”. This story is directly connected to “Simoné and the Second Time Around” and “Marti and the Doppelganger”. The latter left many unanswered questions. Some of those will be answered, some probably not. There are many references to previous stories in the series. If you are confused by some of them, just put it off to my senility. The Cynthia Chronicles takes place in a universe very similar to ours. Unfortunately, it might be too similar.

For any who read “Myrna and the Genetic Disaster”, this is the same story, only with the political rantings and scientific explanations removed. There may also have been a few edits and additions.

This is the tenth part of ten. I had considered reorganizing the last few chapters of the story as there is quite a bit of skipping around and going back and forth in time. I decided the heck with it and left them as they were.

We will see how things go with Tammie and Wanda. Their relationship is one made in heaven. At least some would find that metaphor appropriate. Sydney and Marshall Hendricks find love rather quickly. We will learn a lot more about them in the next story.

This submission will be in ten parts. All are completed. Any errors are mine and I will gladly accept constructive criticism; as long as you’re nice.

The story begins with The Wizard meeting with the raccoon family we met in the previous story, “Marti and the Doppelganger.” This story is also a follow up to the stories of Wanda, Tamesha, Penny, and Sidney. We only know what happened to Sidney. We haven’t actually met Sidney until now.

Reality Can Be Disappointing at Times

Reality is a bitch. As many of you know, my Cynthia Chronicles series of stories take place in New England. Bridgeport, CT; Hartford, CT; Boston, MA are some of the main locations. Bridgeport is the home of Cynthia Lewis/Brewer, and it seems the town and area is frequently visited by the SRU Wizard. His Wisdom took a special liking to Cyndy, her friends and families.

The Chronicles Are Done But Cynthia Lives

I think it has been very apparent that I have been struggling with the Cynthia Chronicles series. For that reason, I will be drawing it to a close shortly, or at least relatively shortly. I've been working on the final episode for a while; at least in fits and starts. It may take a while to make it right. This may take some major rewriting of a previous episode or two. I wrote the ending many years ago, but removed it from here because there needed to be many more things to be tidied up.

Facebook Musings

A few days ago, I put a posting on Facebook somewhat in reaction to the latest SCOTUS decision. Transgender in the military is a major part of the story in “Soaring with Eagles”, the seventh novel in A California Saga, a series of nine novels that were originally posted on BCTS. I had to remove them when I published the books on Amazon KDP. I felt “Soaring with Eagles” was a good story. It required quite a bit of research.

The Cynthia Chronicles Time Line

I have received several suggestions lately to create an index or a list showing the proper order for the stories in “The Cynthia Chronicles.” Quite frankly, I don’t have the skill to put the stories in the proper order that might show in a side bar. I also create a problem by not necessarily writing the stories in chronological order. I did, however, create a time line in order to keep track of events in the series. Sometimes I catch temporal errors, sometimes I don’t.

The Magic Flute Redo

Been listening to Mozart's "The Magic Flute" being performed by the MET in English. Two and a half years ago I published my version of "The Magic Flute" on BCTS. I called it "Cynthia and the Queen of the Knight". I imagine there are many out there who haven't read it. I thought it was very well received for an SRU based story. It is many stories wound into a main theme of young lovers solving a puzzle based on an old interactive computer game, "The Colossal Cave Adventure Game" also known by other similar titles. I think it is a lot of fun, and very happy.

"Myrna and the Grievous Error" is gone

I have deleted "Myrna and the Grievous Error" due to popular demand - two people. However the lack of votes also indicated problems. The story has been replaced with "Myrna and the Genetic Disaster". The stories are pretty much the same for about halfway. After that the story is expanded considerably following the lives of Wanda and Tamesha, Penny, and Sydney. I particularly like how Penny reacts to her estranged parents. All around, more detail and a happier conclusion.

Myrna and the admonishment

After some discussion with a trusted author and reader, I've decided to rewrite the last few Chapter of "Myrna and the Grievous Error" . I will probably eventually rename it. I suspect it will be close to 5000 words longer, if not more. The downer ending will be scrapped. We will concentrate on "Happy".

Myrna and the Less than Enthusiastic Response

When I started writing "Myrna and the Grievous Error" I wasn't sure exactly sure where it would go; however, as it progressed I knew I had to address certain issues within this particular universe. I have maintained that magic had to comply with the laws of physics and chemistry. Arthur C. Clarke said, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." That is the philosophy and approach I have taken with the "Cynthia Chronicles." Magic cannot do anything that is not possible in our physical world. Previous stories in the series have addressed this phenomenon.

Myrna and the Grievous Error

Posted the first part of an eight part story; part of the continuing Cynthia Chronicles. Although the story does end happily for the main characters, there are some very dark overtones. Myrna Moskowitz has been part of the series since "Cynthia and the High School Years". Although not magic, she has deep connections to most of the characters in the series, as does her husband and lover, Avery. For years Myrna was a free spirit with little religious affiliation.

Painting One's Self Into A Corner - The Cynthia Chronicles

Many years ago I started to write a series of stories based on the SRU Wizard. In reading about The Wizard from other points of view, the lack of consistency among stories bothered me. The Wizard seemed to lack genuine purpose. He did what he did because he could. There were times he seemed mean and vindictive. There were times he showed some heart. I particularly remember a tale where he turned a biker into an elementary school teacher, much to her pleasure.

Thoughts about the future

I know I've left a few story ideas hanging out there. Marti and the Doppelganger left several unanswered questions. I will get around to answering them one of these days. I sometimes work myself to sleep thinking where the story should go. So far, I've not gone much beyond the first chapter, and that's in my head. When I do get it straightened out, I think there will be only one more story in the Cynthia Chronicle, and that will be an expansion and development of a previous add on. This line can't go much further without being repetitive.

Author:

This site means so much to me and others. I know many out there are really stressed financially, but please do what you can do to keep this refuge open. I've donated $200 this month. Yes, I'm getting some advertising for my books; however, that's not really important. What really is important is keeping BCTS and the other functions of this organization going. Please do whatever you can. It does matter.

Author:

It's hard to believe that it's been more than four years since Stanly Morton, known as Stanman on this site and others, passed away. He was reviled by some, tolerated by others, and accepted as a writer by a few. Some authors here actually met him, others would have avoided him at any cost. Stan was a short person. I believe he was about 5' 7". He weighed about 450 pounds, and he had numerous health problems. One thing, though, was that he read every story posted here, and commented on all of them. Erin said he had made over 20,000 comments while here.

$.99 Special for The Heart of the Beholder

My novel "The Heart of the Beholder" and the eight that followed were first published on this site. Unfortunately, when I decided to publish them mainstream, I had to take them off BCTS. Here’s a chance for all of those who have not read my novels, but thought they might start one of these days. The books are published under my non-nom de plume, Tim Blewett. Be sure to link through this site so they can get some commission. Starting at 8:00 AM CST November 8, and for one week, my first novel, “The Heart of the Beholder”, is on sale for $.99 on Amazon. This is for the eBook edition.

Thank You Everyone

I am warmed by the response "Anita" has garnered in spite of my not posting correctly and not showing the teasers until after posting 14 chapters. It was fun taking a 19th Century tale and bringing it into the 21st. Hopefully, those familiar with the tale caught on after the 'set up'. Probably will work on something for the Cynthia Chronicles. Been kicking a few ideas around. Probably will have something to do with sapient raccoons and others whom we've met in the past.

Anita, Chapter 16 & Epilogue

Anita
Chapter 16 and Epilogue

By Portia Bennett

Introduction: In a sense there is a connection to this story and several other non-magic stories I’ve written. Two characters from Mike and Ashley show up briefly. They would be Mike and Ashley. This story, Like “Mike and Ashley”, “Discovery”, and “Cynthia and the Queen of Knight” takes its storyline from the work of someone else. In this case, a production by an Italian fellow named Joseph Green. The story is 16 chapters in length plus an epilogue. I’ve done as much tweaking as I can. Any errors are mine and I will gladly accept constructive criticism; as long as you’re nice.

Costa has Anita, Alexa, and Robelia in a very difficult position. His anger towards Anita rises to the top. Anita will be the first to die.

Anita and Alexa have moved into their new home just off Fox Mill Rd. Things are going very well; however, there is this guy named Tommaso Costa, and he is not a happy camper. He has located Anita and her companion whom he has no idea about. Costa wants all of them dead, and the sooner the better. Someone else is watching costa and they seem to have as much interest in taking him down as the agency does. Costa is on the move, and the Agency may have found out too late.
