I have a decision to make, and I've been putting it off. Mary Ann and I have been tossing around our options and her family has been able to offer some pretty good advice, but the decision is mine in the end. No, that's not completely true. Mary Ann and I have to make the decision together as it affects the both of us.

Monday, December 16
Oddly, I got the answer to finding Mary Ann's gift in the psychology exam this morning. There were questions about family relations and - of course! - dysfunction. Which made me realize I should call her brother Dale and ask him if he has any bright ideas. I had to slap myself and put my mind back on the exam after getting another bright idea.

Part Seventeen

As if to spite the local police, Dare made multiple, all brief appearances over the next three days. None lasted long enough for Vic or even the air mobile Lady Green to reach the scene in time. However, the new metro still blamed Vic and the Bureau for Dare repeatedly appearing and escaping. She claimed that Vic's previous "attacks" on Dare had made her shy and wary.

"Wary, yes," said Vic, sourly, to Michelle that Thursday night, as she did fingertip pushups while on her toe tips. "Shy? Has Lady Green even seen what Dare wears?!"

A young woman has everything: a home, a job, a baby, and a husband that brings her flowers.

I was being held by Mario as I blubbed and then felt the weight of Francesca against my back. There I was, being sandwiched between two people who both had the opportunity to kill me but had refrained. As I sobbed I felt a sense of being someone who meant something to these people.

“Can’t I come with you mom?” Lien looks at Tizzy as she packs a gym bag.

Tizzy looks at Lien and sits down next to her. She picks Lien up and sets her on her lap.

“Sweetie, I can’t take you with me. Your grandmother needs me to help her with a problem. However, I promise that when I am done with whatever your grandmother needs me for. You, me, and your father will take a trip to Disney Land and Paramount studios. How does that sound to you?”

Lien looks at her mother and didn’t want her to go. She didn’t want to lose another mother.

Part Sixteen

Unfortunately, the city decided that the best way to introduce Lady Green to the public was to have Vic not only present at the official welcoming ceremony, but to have her formally "hand over" protection of the city to the new hire. Vic and Drake both tried to get her out of this, but Brade reluctantly told them they had to participate.

"Aren't federal employees supposed to avoid endorsing local governments?" said Vic, on the conference call in Drake's office.

“Why ask me, Danica? Surely one of the girls will go.”

“They’re all busy, Joel, please?”

“I dont know ...”

“Come on, you’ve been complaining you never do anything. Come with me.”
