The Family Girl Blogs
(aka "The New Working Girl Blogs") Blog #94: So, first off, I’m okay. Secondly, I have a question… To see all of Bobbie's Family GirlBlogs, click on this link: http://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/book/28818/family-girl-blogs |
Hi, everyone!
Just saying I’m okay, and apologies for the silence. I’m just incredibly, incredibly busy nowadays! Construction work in the building, hiring new people, keeping marketing going and lining up new clients. And still keep normal operations running. It’s real tough.
Because of unforeseen circumstances, further work on Danny Part 7 has been stalled again.
But, speaking of which, I have a question…
As those who know, I would prefer to finish the story first before I start posting any of Part 7. But given the delays - would you guys prefer that I post whatever I already have - posting one chapter every Friday morning (or Friday evening my time), until I finish things or I run out of completed chapters, whichever comes first. The other option being I start posting them when I have completed the story.
There are a couple of implications to the first option, though:
a. If the cause of my delays isn’t resolved soon, it’s liable that I would run out of chapters and we’d have another lull. And.
b. Because this is a work-in-progress, I’m liable to go back to some chapters to make changes - something lots of people here won't like.
So, that’s my question. What do you think? The first option or the second?
Anyway, while I’m waiting for your comments/responses/suggestions, I’ll keep on working on the story as much as I can.
Hope you guys give me feedback soon!!
Bobbie-Speedy-Gonzalez out!

Glad you're OK! Work can so
Glad you're OK! Work can so get in the way of the other aspects of life. But then when you don't have work, you miss it. So we can't win.
I'd say stick with your original plan, the second option. We all can wait for a finished product. Posting chapters that you might have to go back and revise doesn't make anyone happy.

{I leave a trail of Kudos as I browse the site. Be careful where you step!}
Wait
I'd say wait until it is finished. I need to re-read the whole thing anyways, so I'd rather wait until it is completed before starting that endeavor.

The fact that you ask,
love, shows, that you are perhaps ready for a change to adapt to new circumstances?
I rarely go back and revise chapters other than ironing out errors and typos. I let the story take me to where it goes and go along for the ride. Yes, it can sometimes be bothersome, when the source dries out temporarily, but if you look at the amount of unfinished stories on TGS ... The deciding factor should be what you feel more appropriate for your style and creativity, not our opinion, if you ask me.
I always feel a rewarded, when I have posted a chapter and there are kudos or comments (best of course both) and that boosts my will to go on. But then we are all different. So this is just food for thought.
Love,
Monique.

Do what feels right. It
Do what feels right. It sounds like you're leaning towards holding it back until it's complete, so that you _can_ do the edits and changes.
Rather than believe Nancy Reagan, and Just Say No, do what Nike says, and Just Do It. (Funny that both campaigns came out around the same time)
We've waited, we can keep waiting. Keep yourself on an even keel, because you're most important in this.
I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.
Vote for publish it after you completely finish
Sounds like that would be easiest for you.
Posting when you're ready
Happy to wait, would like it very much if you popped in here occasionally and said "Hi, still breathing!" 'cos we love to hear from you :)

Wait
It will actually use up more time otherwise.
Post When You Finish :)
I used to write a chapter a week and I would get very behind. So I started writing multiple chapters then posting. I feel that works best for me. I think its a pretty solid plan :).
Thanks for all the feedback!
Thanks for the feedback, everyone!
I would rather finish first, actually, but I had to make the offer. I wouldn’t want people who’ve been waiting for this for so long to be disappointed. Some might also say I was drawing this out or something. This is partly my way of sort of proving these people wrong.
For some people, writing is like a mechanical thing, that all one needs is time and a working computer. I’m afraid I’m not like that. For that I’m sorry. Besides, mechanical writing produces boring, mechanical stories without heart. IMHO.
I’m really doing my best, and will finish as soon as I possibly can.
(And hi, btw, to Kris! Still keeping up with the chatroom?)
