The five airmen have hidden in a native village and have been accepted by the locals. One of them appears to have caught a rare ailment, however.

"Why, Doc? Why me?"

"We've been asking ourselves that since you fell - ill. We've no idea. I'll talk to the headman soon as I can find him and see if he confirms my diagnosis. Of course, he said, didn't he, that the elder women of the tribe will guide you. I wondered why he said it that way, I took him to mean they would look after you. That's not what he meant at all. Shit. Fighting the Japs I can cope with, how are we going to deal with this?"

This chapter leads up to the kidnapping of Khatia.

Ingrid rushed into the kitchen. She dropped her keys on the counter as she walked, not breaking stride as she headed for the stairs. She bounced up the steps and into the suite, slinging her purse onto the bed as she headed for the bathroom. After a quick stop at the toilet, she cranked up some music and turned on the shower.

CHAPTER 7

“Oh, I talk to Karen now and again. She has a room here and stays quite often. As a matter of fact, she is coming tomorrow. I’m sure she would love to see you.”

I was shocked beyond belief. She looked at me funny and then something clicked.

“That’s right, she has been away a long time. I bet you thought she had forgotten about you.”

I shook my head.

“Actually, I thought she was dead.”

Chapter 3

Day three, or is it four, depends how you count I suppose, duly arrived and started much the same as the previous one. After the usual morning routine he dressed in his cycling togs before going to once again partake of breakfast. By the time the tent was down and the bags packed and installed on the bike it was heading on towards nine and strangely the intrepid explorer was feeling both excitement and trepidation at the prospect of leaving Detwang. It may have only been two nights but he was already feeling some attachment to the place. Well he'd get a last look at the place on the way out, the computer clicked on as he moved off and the next step of the adventure was underway.

Five airmen survive the crash of their bomber on a remote tropical island. Unfortunately, the island is inhabited by 800 dangerous tribesmen who don't like white-faces. Oh, and there's also 200 Japanese soldiers. That's not going to be the worst of their problems, though.

A Daughters of Time story set in the Pacific during WWII. Remember, the Moebius Institute is still 30+ years in the future.

Unchained

One man emerges from a dungeon after being chained up for almost three months.
Wallace Jane is now unchained.

“What time do they finish serving lunch?” Khatia asked.

Maurice Gao spoke up. “Do the Watanabes know Ripley is in Australia now?”

Gabrielle Tanaka answered the question. “Yes, they do.”

“Is it possible the Watanabes could check on her activities here?”

FBI Director Robert Mueller answered Maurice’s question. “We are taking precautions, Inspector. The McBride home in Alice is being watched. Charges are being made to Hiromi Sato’s credit cards to make it look like she is leading a normal routine here.”

Maurice nodded his head gently. “Thank you for answering my question, Director.”

Gabrielle looked over at Maurice. ‘Be patient, your turn will be coming soon."

Synopsis- While a JAG attorney works on Hiromi’s legal defense, Gabrielle Tanaka advises the Swan Song committee on how they could get Ripley assistance once she returns to Japan.
