Morning Angel Chap. 18

Aylin’s and Mark’s Place:
Mark and Bear look around downstairs. Bear picks up a scent and follows it towards the den. He continues following the scent over towards the sliding glass doors.

“Good boy, Bear.” Mark starts looking at the lock but finds nothing wrong with it.

He examines the security connections that were embedded in the metal rail and the glass as well. Mark looks around the den and notices the motion detectors and hidden cameras are off. He knew the breaker box for the house was in the garage. The control panel for the alarm system was concealed.

Aylin checks on the kids and makes sure all of them are alright. She also checks on Angie as well.

“Is everything okay, Aylin?” Angie watches as Aylin enters the guest room.

“Everything is fine. I’m just checking on everyone.” Ever since Aylin became a mother. Her instincts are on full alert for the safety of her children.

The last person who threatened her children found themselves facing her mean and dangerous side. Aylin knew Angie could defend herself, but as long as she was under her roof. She would protect her.

“Why do you think that person was here?” Angie was wondering why a killer had broken into Aylin’s house.

“I don’t know, but Mark and I will find out. Now, why don’t you go back to sleep, okay?” The motherly side of Aylin was coming out.

“I’ll try.” Angie snuggles back under her covers.

Aylin comes over and tucks Angie in. She looks down at her friend “Sleep tight.”

“Thanks.”

Aylin turns and leaves the bedroom. She shut the door, so Angie could get some sleep. She walks downstairs to see what Mark and Bear have discovered. She spots the two in the den near the sliding glass door.

“Is that where the intruder came in?” Aylin loved the sliding glass doors, but if they are a security concern, she’ll have them removed.

“Yeah, plus he knocked out the motion detectors and cameras in here as well.” Mark wonders how the intruder did that.

“He could have used a device similar to the one Terry made for us.” Aylin knew they had a device that could knock out a security system and all the cameras.

“True, if Terry can come up with it, then anyone who is an established thief/assassin can develop something similar.” Mark starts walking towards the garage to reset the system.

Aylin reaches down and scratches Bear between his ears. She wonders what type of bodysuit the intruder wore because Bear’s teeth hadn’t been able to penetrate it. She wonders if one of her uncle’s huge wolves could.

“All right, the system has been reset. Let’s go back to bed.” Mark looks over towards Aylin as she pets Bear.

Mark and Aylin head back upstairs to their bedroom, but before turning in. Mark sets up a secondary alert system that wouldn’t look out of place.

Teela’s Residence:
Teela turns the alarm off when it goes off. She was tired and was taking a day off. She had an appointment with Jester later for more training.
Since the agents had the weapons and the crooks that wanted them were locked up for a very long time. She was going to spend time in bed this morning because if the training goes anything like it did last time. She will regret it later.

As Teela is lying snuggled up under her blankets. The ring doorbell rings. Teela reaches over to her nightstand and looks at who is at the door. She saw that Charity was standing at the front door.

She gets up out of bed slips her nightgown on and starts walking towards the front door. She unlocks the door and opens it “Morning, Charity.”

“Morning, cousin. May I come in?” Charity noticed that Teela still had bed hair.

“Of course.” Teela stands aside to let Charity come in.

As Teela closes the door behind Charity “So what brings you by this morning?”

Teela follows Charity over to the sofa and sits down. Teela sits down in her favorite recliner.

“Just checking on you. How are your shoulders?” Charity figures since she was in the city, she would check on her cousin.

“Would you like some coffee or tea?”

“Tea, please. So, how are your shoulders?” Charity watches as Teela gets up and walks towards the kitchen.

“They are doing fine. So, how are things going for you, Charity?” Teela looks at her cousin since the apartment was an open design.

“Good, I was in the city and thought I’d come by and check on you. Have you gotten the insurance money for your truck yet?”

“Nope, I haven’t. Emily and I are taking a couple of days off for a while before we go back to work.”

“Well, I might know a dealer where you can get a good deal on a semi-new truck. The dealership goes over every truck it buys and makes sure
everything is up to code. He also offers an extended warranty as well.”

“Cool, I’ll inform Emily, and the three of us can go and visit the dealership together.” Teela walks back over to where Charity is sitting with a tray.

She sets it down on the coffee table and serves charity her tea, while she has coffee.
