Katey and Jessica land and start shutting things down. Night Bird’s missile payload was exhausted, and his energy reserves were at the lowest levels. Once everything was shut down, Jessica opens the cockpit.
“Night Bird got his revenge, today.” Jessica climbs down first from the cockpit.
“That he did.” Katey pats the side of Night Bird as she climbs down.
Chief Jordan and several techs come out to Night Bird. He looks at Katey and Jessica “how did the shield, do?”
“Remarkably, well. However, its an energy hog. Night Bird is going to need new fusion cells.” Jessica hands the USB she used to record Night Bird’s performance to Chief Jordan.
“Thanks.” Chief Jordan accepts the USB drive.
“But it worked, right?” Chief Jordan wanted to know more about the shield.
“Oh, it worked alright. As soon as the microwave beams hit the shield, we had a pretty light show, as they bounced off the shield.” Jessica was impressed by the shield.
“Good, I wasn’t convinced that the shield would work. It’s still experimental and untested.” Chief Jordan looks towards Night Bird.
“Well, it works and protected Night Bird, so he could get his revenge.” Katey was proud of her helicopter.
“Oh, before I forget. Your neighbor called, Katey and said a red flashing light was going off at your place.” Chief Jordan had received the message through the main switchboard.
A puzzled look appears on Katey’s face. She knew the red light meant someone broke into her place.
“Alright, thanks to Chief.” Katey and Jessica head towards the locker room and change out of their flight gear.
“Doesn’t the red light at your place mean, someone has broken into your place?” Jessica looks at Katey as she stood nearby in her panties and bra.
“Yes, it does. That way I don’t walk in on a robbery or an ambush.” Katey rushes to get dressed in her street clothes.
Jessica hurries as well. Once both ladies are dressed. They run out to Katey’s jeep and hop in.
Katey puts the jeep into gear and speeds off the airbase towards her place. She was wondering who had broken into her place.
It doesn’t take Katey and Jessica long to arrive at Katey’s place, with the speed she was traveling at. They pull up the driveway and notices that the red light on Katey’s place was still flashing. Katey guides the jeep up the driveway and stops.
“I’ll go first.” Katey grabs her concealed handgun and moves towards her house.
The front door was still locked, and the garage door was still locked. Katey goes around to the back door and saw a set of bloody handprints on the backdoor. The doorknob was covered in blood. It looked like, whoever broke in picked the lock.
Katey noticed there were droplets of blood heading into the house. She follows the droplets to her bathroom. She slowly opens the door and spots a pile of black clothing piled in the middle of the floor. She spots a person with neon pink and silver short hair laying in her tub. The person looked like someone had used their face as a punching bag.
Katey moves closer to her tub and could see that the tub was filled with water and had a slight redness to it. The person was female and naked. She had several tattoos that covered her battered body. Her body had bruises on her chest and looked to have several lacerations on her body.
Jessica followed behind Katey as she went around to the back of the house and followed the blood trail into the house. She stops just outside the door to the bathroom as she watches Katey goes further in.
“Is she still alive?” Jessica had spotted the short hair woman, laying in the tub.
“I don’t know.” Katey reaches forward and checks for a pulse.
It takes her a few seconds to find one. It was very weak.
“She still has a pulse. Call the airbase and have them send a helicopter to my address. We need to get her to the hospital.”
“I’m on it.” Jessica pulls her cellphone out and calls the airbase.
Katey continues to examine the young woman. Whoever she is, she was in bad shape. Her fingerprints have been removed. She had numerous tattoos that covered her body. She had a nice one that covered her breasts and went up to both her shoulders like a wing.
In between her breasts was a huge owl, that the wings connected too. The wings covered the upper part of her breast and went to her shoulders as if he was flying.
Katey takes a picture of her face and all the tattoo’s covering her body. She drains the water out of the tub and grabs a towel to cover the woman. She spots where several bullets have entered the woman.
Jessica walks back into the bathroom “a medevac is on route to here.”
“Okay.” Katey continues to look at the woman.
As she is looking, she notices a tattoo that is identical to the one she has. It was the symbol from the squadron she had been assigned to. The thing was, she doesn’t recognize the face or body of the person.
Jessica notices Katey staring hard at the unconscious woman. She wonders if the woman was an old lover of hers.
“Do you know, her?” Jessica was curious.
“No, but she has the same tattoo from the same unit I served in.” Katey points towards it.
“So, you think she’s from your unit?” Jessica looks at Katey.
“I don’t know, but only our unit had this style of tattoo.” Katey was puzzled about who this person is.
Katey goes and turns off the flashing red light. She hears the helicopter land outside her place. She opens the front door and watch as paramedics exit from the chopper and come inside her house.
“She’s in my bathroom, in the tub.” Katey steps aside to let the paramedics go by her.
Jessica starts cleaning up the blood that had dripped from the person. She wonders who the other woman was and why they came here to Katey’s place.
Katey watches as the paramedics tend to the woman’s wounds. One of the paramedics look towards Katey “it’s good you called when you did. She has lost a lot of blood.”
“Where are you taking her?” Katey wants to talk with her and find out who she is.
“To the infirmary at the airbase.”
“Alright, I’ll drop in tomorrow to see how she is doing.” Katey steps aside so the paramedics could carry the woman out.
Once the paramedics are gone. Katey goes back into the bathroom to go through the clothes the woman left behind. She finds the woman’s bra and notices she was a little bigger in the chest than hers. The outfit itself looked to be some sort of bodysuit that had slashes in it. It also had a few bullet holes in it as well.
There were dust and sand on the boots that went with the outfit. She finds the gun holster and saw that there were .45 caliber HK45 compact tactical in the holster. Both guns were empty.
“What type of guns are those?” Jessica was curious.
“HK45, tactical. I prefer my high-power browning’s.” Katey had tucked her gun into the waistband of her pants.
“Well, you need to ask whoever that woman was. Why she broke into our home.” Jessica was living with Katey full time now.
“I will. There are too many questions and not enough answers.”
Katey and Jessica go about cleaning the place up.

Aaaaaah!
Mysteries.
Some things don't add up yet
Like who this woman is, why she broke in to Kate's house, her tattoos & the squadron tattoo, who shot her, why?

Hmm...a tattooed shot up strange woman
Katey and Jessica are extremely happy campers after dusting both choppers, but are real happy with the power drain caused by the shield. Why not install batteries solely for the shield?
Their quiet, restful evening is busted by Katey's home being broken into by a tattooed woman who's been shot several times.
The real question deals with the tattoo on the woman that's like the one Katey has on her. A tattoo only used by Katey's ex unit. Without finger prints, they'll only get answers if/when the woman regains consciousness.
Money says woman didn't start life as a woman. And removing finger prints was for covert operations or a kidnapping where the kidnapped wasn't to be identified if discovered.
Others have feelings too.
