Fallen (for Transgender Day of Remembrance)

Fallen

The fallen are remembered today

All of Those who've passed,

Persecuted for just wanting life

lost, Through their own hand or another's.

What does society say

As We continue to be harassed,

Our every day filled with strife

remembering all the others.

Being true to ourselves every day

No judgments at last,

Lives with honesty and rife

With happiest ever afters.

First steps.

The sun rose lazily over the horizon, making the sky explode in a kaleidoscope of colors. Reds, oranges and pinks fought for dominance in the great pallet of blue. She stood feet firmly planted a long twisted dark road behind her and an uncertain lighted path in front of her. She remembered the words of one of her favorite authors since childhood.

“All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost”

Heyo!

Hey there it's your friendly neighborhood Jenn. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in reading some more of my poems. I have a few written awhile ago and was wondering if I should post them. I have several story irons in the fire, solo and some very cool collaborations coming up.

The predictions of my demise were greatly exaggerated by me.

Irrational fears. We listen to them all the time, they are fears we cant get past. Fears that keep us back afraid, fears that have the power to paralyze us from acting. These fears kept me in hiding for thirty-three years. I was so afraid that my world would come crumbling down I hid, terrified of loss.

Its getting harder and harder.

The demons came last night. Its been awhile since I've had a really bad nightmare. I don't get much sleep and wake up three to four times a night. I am a light sleeper and it usually takes me about 30 minutes to get back to sleep. And maybe its my paranoia or a defense against the nightmares I don't know.

What a difference a year makes.

At about this time 365 days ago I created a profile here. I had been lurking for years and had even been around when old big closet existed. I found solace in the wonderful stories and works here and felt I finally had the do something about it. I registered and kudoed everything I read.

My Scribbles.

Heyo, your friendly neighborhood Jenn here. I wanted to bend your ear a bit, if i could. I love my readers very much. I love every kudo (I'm addicted to checking) and every comment. I try to pm everyone who comments, if i missed you I'm very sorry. More than a few folks here at BCTS have pointed out I'm kind of a "Debbie downer" when I write. I am working on it, I really am. But on occasion my poison pen manages to produce something not so depressing.

Ok, I'll admit it I've been a bad girl.

Alright like the title says, I've been a bad girl. Before the end of the year, some of you might remember me posting about my walking. I was doing four miles a day and was getting close to a fifteen minute mile. I know, I know some of you more healthy people can run four miles in twenty minutes. But for me this is huge, I had it a stretch goal to be running by March I think.

Couple of things to talk about.

Ok. Folks I've got some stuff to talk about, lend me you ear for a bit. I had a story idea and wrote it out, done right? Nope the idea came from my head but what comes out of my fingers barely resembles the language we call English. If you have been unfortunate to see my first drafts I apologize and hope your eyes recovered after a bit. Why am I telling you this, because I had that story go up today.

Whaaaaaaaaaa!!!

Ok folks it is predicted to snow in San Antonio. Its teased us before with little bits that melt as soon as they hit and other times its all ice. The last snow we really got was 1985. That was a fun time the city was paralyzed for days schools were closed. Anyone who had a 4x4 made a killing in cash pulling cars out. I will believe it when I see it. And of course I work all day tomorrow so I will probably be the only one dumb enough to drive in. Oh yeah I said this would happen in my Christmas story, well its a few days late but I'll take it. Bundled up smiles, Jenn.

Yeehaaa! It's cold.

The first and probably only cold snap has hit South Texas. So we get our winter this year, according to extended forecasts this should last into the first part of January, but I'm skeptical. Time to go shopping for a winter wardrobe (I wish). Now I know you Yankees are poo pooing our winter, but when eight months out of the year temperatures are 95 ° and above you get excited when the cold comes. I will be enjoying my walks in the fresh morning air for awhile. So this Texas gal says bundle up little dogies and keep warm if you can, find someone to cuddle up with. Freezing smiles, Jenn.

Updates and stuff.

Heyo! Your friendly neighborhood Jenn here with some random stuff to talk about. Job is going well at the new store, already feel like a valued member of the team. The manager who I respect and know outside of work as a friend, made an effort in the store meeting to convey to the staff that I was to be treated as a resource due to my long experience working for the company. He said he expected the others to go to me if any questions need answering, and a member of management is not available. He has asked me to take on new duties to bring the new store up to speed.

Today is a good day.

Well today is the first day at the new store. Its a new (store) format that the company has rolled out. I'm really excited to begin this new phase of my employment. Having less stress about the job will mean more processing power that can be allocated to other issues. Overall feeling pretty good lately and I hope this an upward trend in my life. I'm going to be smiling all day today that's a fact and I hope everyone has a blessed day. Working smiles, Jenn.

A Black Friday LOL or more like a ROFL.

Ok folks this retail monkey needed a laugh today and got it. Read today's Skin Horse that last panel says it all. We are all hands on deck here at the store and smart phones are flying out the door. In most cases the devices are smarter than the purchasers. If any of you do Black Friday I hope you got some good deals to me this is just another day albeit a twelve hour one. Tired smiles, Jenn.

What I am most thankful for.

What am I thankful for? Easy answers right, maybe not. The standard stuff applies here I have my family, my job, the roof over my head, but I am also very thankful for friends. I have two friends who know me now both have been my friends for many years and I was pretty sure they would be supportive. Talking to them has brought me to a better place, I can honestly say I was headed in a not so good direction and wasn't sure how it would have ended.

Life the Universe and Everything.

Ok, so yesterday I passed another year. I am now the age that Douglas Adams postulated as the answer to that very big question in the title of this here blog. This is significant because it has brought about an epiphany, usually folks wait for new years to make resolutions but as this is the first day of my new age it will be the first day of my new life.
