By Any Other Name. Part 32 of 35

Chapter 32

The next day was still that constant drizzle that makes the world feel as if it’s been submerged into the North Sea. I sat quietly, catching up with my tablet and emailing Jacquie to see about getting one of the spare rooms ready. Later that afternoon, May took me and Chloe to the school. Chloe led me through to the gym, where Miss Steel was standing with a worried look on her face.

Battle Scars

'When will this ever end?' she thought, staring at her reflection in the mirror. Years of fighting had taken a toll on her body, leaving it adorned with countless scars from previous battles. Her bandaged arm now boasted a new one, but she chuckled to herself, knowing it would be a proud scar for any warrior. As she brushed her shoulder-length hair, she noticed wrinkles beginning to form under her eyes. 'I am getting old,' she thought as she looked at the wedding photo on her table. The young woman in the picture had a radiant smile and sparkling eyes full of life. "Nathan," she sighed, wiping away a tear from the corner of her eye. It had been eighteen years since he left, and not a day went by that she didn't miss him. But she vowed to never give up until she avenged his death or died trying.

A Life Well Spent

this was a story i wrote a while ago. it never made it to anything and i figured i would post it here and see if any liked it. a bad editor and bad publisher kind of killed it. it took years to straighten it out somewhat. i hope you like it and maybe have some feed back because im not sure right now if i will continue writing or not. anyway This is a story about Allen, who one day meets a ghost, and his life is changed forever. He learns things in life are not black and white. A lot of grey areas he never thought about. His whole life changes, and he gets a chance to start again.

By Any Other Name. Part 31 of 35

Chapter 31

I couldn’t do any more, so went into the lounge and asked the lads if they had any ideas about a name for my project. There was some hilarious suggestions before Brendon came up with ‘Unicorn Air’ with the logo being a kiddie version of a unicorn, with wings, flying over a rainbow. Bronte went for his sketchbook and turned the thought into reality.

-Act III
Daisy Isabella Bell Crosses over the Rubicon

The seconds quickly melted into minutes and those minutes seemed to drag on and on. It seemed most of the town folks of Benton did not want to part with their hard earned money or make a cash donation for the honor of pushing a pie into a pretty cheerleader's face anymore. And that suited me just fine, the fair itself seemed like a real bummer too. I could also tell by the number of people passing by the booth, that Jamie,  our fearless leader seemed at fist a little annoyed and now she seemed fuming mad.

The Baker's Dozen: Book 1, Down a Peg

The Baker's Dozen was a series of short stories I wrote under my previous pen-name, Shawna Stimple, featuring the Baker sisters, and the people in their lives, through the 1960s, and beyond. I'll be updating, and re-releasing these stories as I go through them, correcting the errors that came with my first attempt at storytelling. I do intend to take a crack at these again in the future, and possibly release this series as an anthology, fleshing out the characters a bit more but that's a little ways off. In the meantime, please enjoy this little trip back in time.

The first part of the series is the story of Jimmy Baker, a young boy whose father has recently passed. Being the only male in the household, he starts acting out, and after nearly ruining a family outing on a visit to his grandmother's, his sisters think they've found a solution.

Please enjoy, as in this story I play with a long underrepresented category, Bad boy to good girl, to bad girl.

The Elite Women

In the midst of Climate Change, Global Warming, and a half dozen other labels designed to threaten the masses, there are the consumer marketers, especially those who seduce the consumers of textiles. I sat watching the perfectly formed figure seductively move before the camera, draped in clothing designed to entice. Her midi length pleated skirt is missing a narrow piece from hem to waistband, at the side, revealing the absence of underwear. She moves carefully, not revealing forbidden parts of her anatomy.

Ruth's Reunion - Chapter 8

"Jess," I hurried out of the car in pursuit. As soon as we parked, she took off, ignoring me as she had done for most of the journey.

The buildings, trees, sky, everything seemed more interesting to her than whatever I had to say.

Our relationship had been positive up until that point, and she'd even taken my side over her husband's a few times, so I was taken aback by her sudden change in attitude.

Chapter 30

When we reached him, we shook hands and he helped my into the plane, getting into the second seat as I buckled up in the main seat. We spent some time going through the instruments, seeing that it was a similar upgrade to the Cheyenne, with the Garmin system, and similar touch screens and the automatic landing at the touch of a button. With the headphones on, he called up the flight control and we had permission to taxi to the end of the runway.

Chapter 29

They say that the real world has a habit of sneaking up on you when you least expect it. I was determined to do nothing for as long as it takes but was only home for a week or so when the phone rang. Larry answered it, listened for a few seconds, and then passed it to me.

“It’s for you, Julia.”

I took the handset and went to sit in an easy chair before I spoke my name.

A Grumpy Old Man’s Tale 56 What You See is Never What You Get

How calt will it get? Who knows. I can’t even hazard a guess because I’ve got nowt to base one on. We’ve never hit minus thirty [-22℉] before anywhere in Britain in recorded history, though it’s said that during the winter of sixteen eighty-three going into eighty-four the ice on the Thames was a foot thick [305mm]. I’ve never manage to find even an estimate of how calt it was, but it’s reputed to be the most severe frost recorded in England. It always seemed daft to me to use the expression worst recorded when there’s not even an indication of how calt it was, how is that recorded? Come to that what was it they were recording? Maybe we’ll hit minus forty [-40℉] this time. I wouldn’t rule it out, but like I said I’ve never bin here afore. Think on, it’s not that long since for the first time recorded the temperature in the UK went over forty Celsius. Forty point three [104·54℉] it was at Coningsby in Lincolnshire on the nineteenth of July twenty twenty-two. So owt’s possible.

Too Many Bras

three bras.jpg

All was chaos in the house. With the forth of July conveniently occurring on a Thursday this year, those that could stretch the holiday into an extra-long weekend did so. Thus Chris and Sandy, a modern couple with demanding jobs, chose to leave their teenage children home to fend for themselves and spend four days backpacking in the woods. Naturally, this occasioned some acerbic comments from Melissa – age 13 – and Carter – age 15 – concerning the decrepitude of their aging parents and doubts as to their ability to survive without Cable, Internet and Fast Food.

Daisy Isabella Bell Crack's Her Egg (1)

Now before you jump to any conclusions. I don't know if I'm transgender or not. I have two cousins that are and I kind of date a girl who is. I really don't know where I myself personally fit on the whole gender spectrum. It's not something I'm prone to giving much thought too. Anyway, the story I'm going to recount to you is not about that! So let's not make it about that. This story is about how I came to be almost accepted in this rural township and how I kind of became the “Little Sister” of the cheerleader's of Benton Academy Varsity Cheerleading Squad.

Ruth's Reunion - Chapter 7

I gripped the sheets tightly, burying my head in the pillow to stifle my moans and avoid waking Jackson. Being with Tom always felt incredible.

With each deep thrust, he forced involuntary cries of pleasure from my lips. I've always wondered whether the pleasure I felt when we lay together was typical or if Tom was just that good.

I had no way to know because I hadn't been with anyone else since I had my surgery and I could never achieve similar results when I played with myself either.

Ruth's Reunion - Chapter 6

Tom and I walked hand-in-hand around the grounds while we waited for our room to be prepared. We'd left Jackson in the care of one of the staff and couldn't help but laugh as he led her on an adventure to show Sarah his new present.

Clinging to Tom's arm, I leaned into him as we walked, grateful for this time alone. It had been too long since we'd held each other like this.

"Thank you" I looked up at him and whispered.

"For what?"

"Just for being here," I said softly and leaned my head on his shoulder.

By Any Other Name. Part 27 of 35

Chapter 27

We, in Europe, now think that the influx of migrants is a problem. In Germany, after the war, there were over seven and a half million German prisoners, as well as an influx of thousands more being shipped in from other theatres of war.

On top of that, there were tens of thousands of Displaced Persons, some fleeing the Soviets and the Soviet Zone. The British, alone, had two million prisoners in a space no bigger than Suffolk, on top of the local population. The speech was wishful thinking, at best.

By Any Other Name. Part 26 of 35

Chapter 26

I did what I had done before, by starting to write it as a story before aiming at the screenplay. I had a lot of it on the computer when Jacquie informed us that we had nothing to go to the Globes for, but a number of nominations in the BAFTA awards this year.

Flipped

Tom and Taylor had been best friends ever since kindergarten. They weren’t exactly inseparable any longer but every minute they could you would find them together. It really was quite fun to see them. Tom was BIG. A star athlete. Discus, shot put and things like that. Taylor was tiny and cute. He excelled in softer areas. Home Ec wizard, dancing, fashion … You couldn’t imagine two boys that were more different. It was really quite fun to watch them. No denying that there was a very close bond between them though. Perhaps it was because both of them were such firm conservatives.

Sarah’s Dream, Chapter 12

Over time I did actually manage to assemble theories to support large parts of what happened with dreamwalking. I gave Jenna some dumbed-down (that is, not for physics majors) versions of a few relevant concepts and then in one of our dreamwalks together in World of Dreams I went over the theories with her.

“I actually have a good explanation now for a lot of what we do and experience. There are still gaps, but some of your ideas helped before, and I hope you can help me again.”

“I’m all ears,” Jenna replied.

I Never Said I was a Girl

I want to make some things perfectly clear.
First of all, I NEVER said I was a girl.
I was not girly in any way.
I wasn’t petite. I’m slightly above medium height (male).
I did not have long flowing golden locks. Not exactly short but certainly not long.
I was not a social outcast. Actually, I was quite popular in school and did honor list (though not potential Valedictorian) well in school.
