I've got a problem today, I hope that mom understands. I need to get some new underwear.
"Mom, I need some new underwear."
"I don't understand, how can you need new underwear, I bought you new underwear at the beginning of the school year, and it is only November. What have you been doing with them, taking them off and giving them away to boys at your school like in Sixteen Candles?"
"Mooommmm!"
"Well, then, explain it to me how you can need new underwear already."
"Um, you are kind of half right, I gave some I hadn't worn away. You see, Bobby needed them for Barbara."
"Why would a boy need to get panties for a girl?"
"Because Bobby doesn't have any for when she is Barbara."

I’m going to guess
That at the next word out of Mom’s mouth is a variant of “huh?” For people of a certain age (parents, just for instance), the brain does not travel smoothly down certain pathways.
And the beauty of a short-short is that I can go on imagining the rest of the conversation to my heart’s content!

The Royal Teens
A group from New Jersey, they scored a #2 hit with "Short Shorts" in 1958. Bob Gaudio, the mastermind behind The Four Seasons' decade-long string of hits (featuring Frankie Valli), co-wrote it and played organ ifor The Royal Teens. Replaced by Al Kooper in 1959. Kooper went on to form Blues Project and Blood, Sweat & Tears and, later on, produced Lynyrd Skynyrd's first albums. Al is most famous for playing organ on Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone."
From such humble beginnings, major talent emerged. Just like the authors on Big Closet!

Gotta love the shorts
Short, sweet, amusing, and poignant, these stories stay in my head for awhile. Bobby is obviously a good friend who shares her abundance. Love this.
