A lot of our bills have come due and we almost got caught short. Right now we have about $580 in the bank with one check for $100 waiting to be deposited and a $528 bill due at the end of the week.

They seem to have a fiber-optic switch they share that is dropping about 5% of the traffic that passes thru it. That's only about .005% of all the traffic in the US but the starting number is HUGE!

We've got BC up and running on the new server, Buttercup, and it does run faster! We have a few configuration bugs to work out and then we will get one of her sisters up and running to share the load. It's been a long and tiring road and we aren't done yet. UPDATE: As of Sunday mid-morning, we have Buttercup and Bubbles sharing the load! Site seems faster still and appears even more stable. We did lose about 1/2 hour of comments and edits in the changeover, but no stories.

Lost Stories

Sephrena is back but her health is somewhat shaky. Please let her know that we have been thinking of her. She hopes to be able to do the things she enjoys doing here again very soon.

Happy Birthday to my roommate, Cuddles the Minipoo! She's eight years old today and my best friend.

Unfortunately, we lost most of a day in a corrupted back up. This new drive should enable us to serve the site faster for a time, so enjoy.

We had a drive failure on the BigCloset server. We're limping along right now but we've ordered a new drive and will attempt to get it installed as soon as it arrives in Denver, probably tomorrow or Saturday.

Since this is the boot drive for the main server, this will cause a certain amount of outage time, estimated 4 to 30 hours, depending on how quickly Denver gets the new drive imaged with the right version of Linux, etc.

First of all, Merry Christmas to all who want to celebrate that holiday and Happy Holidays to those celebrating some other day and Seasons Greetings to everyone else!
