A Lesson Learned.

Some of you who have read A Lesson Learned want me to continue the story. I am sorry but this is a stand alone story about what lessons are learned when a parent doesn't listen or see the obvous sign in front of him or her. There will be no more chapters for this story.

Love & hugs,
Barbara

The Office Building

Imagine if you will, just for a moment, that everything around you is not real. Imagine that you are sailing through the universe looking for something that eludes you. Imagine that the ship you are on is swaying with each passing comet. This is the story of one Gerald Bright, an architect who is building an office building, located somewhere in...........The Twilight Zone.

So You Want To Be A Girl, Do You - Chapter 3

So You Want To Be A Girl, Do You
by Barbara Lynn Terry

(Author's Note:) According to the Merriam-WebsterOnline dictionary, the word dysphoria was first used in 1842 and the word transsexual was first used in 1957. I was told by my psychiatrist in 1960 that being transsexual was not considered a mental disease or defect, and that I had a right to be who I am. This chapter deals with Stephanie's life as the girl she is, and the loving support of her mother. Remember this is fiction, but I incorporate a lot of personal experiences.

Chapter 2 - Talking with mom

After I had put my new clothes away, I went back downstairs and poured myself a glass of apple juice. I sat at the table and looked at mom.

"Mom, when we were at the store, why did you all of a sudden start treating me like your daughter?"

When pantyhose was first introduced.

Here is a very brief history of when seamed pantyhose was first introduced in the United States. Maybe people who leave comments about stories should do their research first. And yes they did have seamed pantyhose in 1961. The seamless pantyhose is what was first introduced with the introduction of the min-skirt. I know how to do my research. Does anyone else? Sorry Stanman and Gabi...but your comment that you left to my story So You Want To Be A Girl, Do You, was only partly right.

Chapter 1.

Part 1 - We Begin The Beguine

"So, you want to be a girl, do you." It was a statement rather than a question. My name is Stephen Jean Kelly, I am eleven years old, and I am shorter than my mother's five foot, six inches, but not by much. Maybe an inch if that. My hair is a little long, because I never used the money for haircuts, and my mother had asked me several times why not.

Kira - Chapter 16 - Mother/Daughter Shopping Trip

Kira - Chapter XVI - Mother/daughter shopping trip.

PART I - Kira talks to her mother.

Mother showed us that she hadn't forgotten how to tell stories either. She told us of an exceptional child who had a heart of gold and only wanted what was best for others. Then she looked at me, gave me a hug, and told me how wonderful and precious I really was.

"You know what I am thinking? That maybe you and I, Kira, should go shopping, and let me buy my daughter a nice dress and some shoes. Would you like that, Kira?"

"Mom, is everything okay? You look like you were far away there for a while."
"I'm fine, honey. In fact, everything is fine. I was just thinking how beautiful you look, and what your father is actually missing out on. But we won't dwell on that. He made his bed, short sheets and all, so he has to sleep in it. You are so pretty though."

Kira - Chapter 15 - Kira Gives Her Mother A Surprise

Kira - Chapter XV - Kira gives her mother a surprise.

Thirty days goes really fast when you're having fun. I guess with school and everything, these four weeks just flew by. Tomorrow we had to be in court again for mother's sentencing. We don't have to be there, but I want to be, because, well, she is my mother. Maybe she can get help where she is going, if she wants it. But mother went to the state hospital to have a psychiatric evaluation. I wonder what the doctor is going to say. Well, we will find out tomorrow.

(Author's note: You have all spoken and I have listened. I had to take some time to figure out how to start book 2, so I will start where I left off in book 1. Thank you all for reading and commenting on book 1. Barbara)

Chapter 1 - At home after the hearing.

When we got home from the courthouse, we all sat down and had a little talk in the dining room. Daddy was even home for this too.

A Girl With "Extra" Bits

I read a lot of transgendered stories where the TG protagonist is referred as a "girl with extra bits". So okay, we have this disgusting thing between our legs, that have two small ping pong balls behind it. Then, most of us have these dumb old ping pong balls removed and we are left with what has been referred to as an "extra" bit.

"Rights for what. I haven't done anything."

"Okay, but do you understand the rights I just read to you?"

"Yes."

"Good, let's go." They took daddy outside where a police van was waiting. they put daddy in the police van, and the van drove off. The officers came back to the house. "Here is a show order, to meet us in the district attorney's office at two o'clock tomorrow afternoon. He will be formally charged with attempted murder, and he will be in the county jail, unless someone can make his bail."

Father Just Doesn't Get It

I wasn't going to write another chapter in Father Just Doesn't Get It, but with all the nice comments I got, I decided to write another chapter. If anybody wants to read more about Joanne's journey into girlhood, just say so in your comments at the end of the story.

Hugs,
Barbara

"Are you getting your hair cut, if I want Jimmy instead of what's-her-name?"

"Joanne," mom and I said in unison.

"No daddy, we already talked about that."

"Then you stay as Jo whatever."

"Joanne," mom and I said it again.

"That's all I needed to hear, dear. You now have a very beautiful daughter, and I will lay down the ground rules for her. Come Joanne, let's leave your father to his paper."

Comment notification

It is like I said, I have been actually on this site since 2002, and in that time I have not seen a comment notification like I have on other writing sites. Of course we aren't just another pretty face, LOL, but still, when somebody new leaves a comment on something we have written, we should at least be made aware of that.

"You look like a damned sissy with that hair. When are you going to get it cut?"

"Daddy, you have been yelling at me for two years to get my hair cut. There are a lot of boys that have long hair now. Long hair isn't just for girls anymore. Besides, I keep it clean and groomed. So, may I ask just what it is that really bothers you about long hair on a boy?"

My Stories

Every now and then I re-read some of the comments to my stories as well as the stories to see if I might be able to add anything. What I notice is a pattern to all comments, whether they are for my stories or someone else's, and that is this. Several people pick out a part of the story and only comment on that, others comment on the whole story, and still others like to nit pick about this or that, and it has nothing to do with the story.

Kira - Chapter XIII - Kira has a relapse.

A few weeks went by and Mrs. Jenkins called to tell us we had to be in court on Friday at ten o'clock. That was the day after tomorrow. Daddy said she had read the reports of all the doctors and that there was nothing to be afraid of, because they were good reports. So daddy told us that since we needed to be in court again in two days, that we could stay home from school tomorrow.

Spring
by Barbara Lynn Terry

I was five years old in the winter of 1953-1954. I remember that Christmas and Easter very well. It was just like every other Christmas and Easter, but this year, something was about to happen that I had only prayed about.

Let me take you back to just after Thanksgiving, 1953, and the start of the Christmas shopping season.

Part I - Sue's dilemma

When I woke up, it was already after twelve. I got up, and got out my clothes for the day. I went in and started my bath. Cindy was over, and when she heard me in the bathroom, she came out of Bobbie's room and talked to me.

"Hey sleepyhead, it's about time you woke up. How do you feel?"

"I feel okay. I was just drained yesterday for some reason. How is Angie doing?"

"Angie's fine. She's downstairs with mom having a popsicle."

Posting

Jillian Marie wrote a very short story called Inventing Me. In my comment I said I had written a poem called The Sum Of All Of Me...actually the name of the poem is I Am The Sum Of All Of Me, and fits right into Jillian's story theme. I wrote this poem in 2006, after a lot of turmoil went through me and finally I couldn't hold these thoughts back anymore. I thought I would share The Sum Of All Of Me with you. I think we can all identify with my chosen words. Thank you, Barbara.

Rated "G" by the Author.

There are those who are the sum of their parents; their attitudes, their genealogy, as well as their physical attributes. Then there are those of us, who are just the sum of being an individual.

Comments on stories not yet complete

There are some things I have to say because I see people drawing conclusions on stories that are not completed. The first part of a story sets up the characters and the plot, and the second part sets up how the characters interact with each other, and the third part just goes with the plot full force. But to draw a conclusion in a comment before the story is finished is like a newspaper reporter making up his/her own story because he can't get an interview; like in Football Girl. But there are reporters in real life who actually do do that.

Chapter I - Michael.

I had gotten up late this Saturday morning, and my mother was already at work. I went in the bathroom and took a shower. I shampooed my hair twice and conditioned it twice. After it was dry, I went in my room, and got out a nice powder blue bra and panty set, my powder blue half slip and dress, got a pair of nylons and my black leather slingbacks. I put on my lingerie, and sat down to do my makeup. As I was working on my eyes, the memory of how I got this far came back to me.

Part I - Taking care of Angela.

I went back upstairs when I heard Angie crying. I went in the bedroom, and saw she had fallen off of the bed. I picked her up and held her and told her everything was fine because her big sithy was here. She put her head against my breast and just sobbed and sniffled. I kissed her on the forehead, and asked her if she was hungry. She said yes, but she needed changing first. I changed her, and put the wet diaper in the diaper pail, and took her downstairs.

Part I - Amanda Dowling.

I woke up and found daddy sleeping in the chair by the bed. I just laid there and looked at him. He seemed so peaceful, and I hated to wake him up, but I needed to use the restroom. I pressed the nurse's button, and Darlene, who was the PCA for this morning came in to see what I needed. I whispered that I needed to use the restroom, and she helped me get there. When I was finished, she helped me back. Daddy was awake by then.

"Good morning, daddy," I said with a half smile.

Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome

Here is the Wikipedia condensed version of what AIS, PAIS, and CAIS are, and depending on what authority you read or which case studies, AIS sufferers are scientifically classed as female because of the amount of estrogens in their bodies, regardless of the XY chromosomes or male testicles. The testes produce way too much testosterone in AIS sufferers that by some quirk of fate, it turns into estrogen. You are free to draw your own conclusions.
