City Rat Chp. 3

Printer-friendly version

After lunch, Tonya heads to another city park, where she knew skateboarders hung out. When she arrives, she spots at least twenty people and half of them she knew personally. She skates over to the pit they were at and watches as some of the boarders try out new tricks with a twist.
Marko spots Tonya skating over to the pit he and his brother Frank were skating at. He waves to her and watches as she approaches them.

“How were the open seas yesterday?” Marko knew Tonya was going out with some friends.

“Disastrous. The guy I trusted brought a sicko onto the boat with us and tried to rape me.” Tonya still couldn’t get over what had happened the other day.

“Oh man, what did you do?” A strawberry blonde hair girl standing nearby looks at Tonya.

“I managed to kill the freaking bastard and another guy who had heard my screams came and rescued me. He and his girlfriend were sailing nearby.”

“You were lucky, Tonya.” Frank looks at Tonya with concern in his eyes.

“I know. It turns out that the guy who rescued me is some sort of government agent.”

“Do you think it might have been a setup to get you to trust him?” Marko has known the cops to do something like that.

“No, I don’t. The reason why I say that, is the look on their face when they turned on me.” Tonya trusted Anthony.

“Well, I’m glad nothing happened to you.”

“Me too.”

The strawberry blonde hair girl jumps down into the pit and does a few tricks. She does a few more moves and springs back up where she started. She looks toward Tonya “let’s see what you got.”

A smile appears on Tonya’s face as she jumps down into the pit and does a few moves. They were more complex than what the girl did. She springs back up where she started. She looks at the girl “was that good enough for you?”

“They were alright.” Brandie had to give Tonya credit for her moves.

“If you think those moves were sick. Wait until you see what I can do.” Frank jumps down into the pit and performs some moves.

“Oh, come on bro. Show us something new, not those same ole old moves.” Marko wanted to push his brother.

“Fine.” Frank starts doing some newer complex moves.

“Those moves are sick looking.” Tonya liked the tricks Frank was doing.

“If you think those are sick, wait until you see my moves.” Marko jumps down into the pit and starts doing some moves no one has seen before.

For the next five hours, Tonya, Frank, Marko, and Brandie compete against each other. They play a game of trying to copy each other’s tricks and going further with it. All of them end up hurting themselves by trying stunts they weren’t properly prepared for.

Tonya ends up limping home. By the time she reaches her gas station, she notices a black town car waiting for her. She already knew who it was and why it was there. She walks up to it and knocks on the tinted window.

Tony rolls the window down when he spots Tonya. He looks at her “the boss wants to see you.”

“Let me guess, it's about Anthony?” Tonya looks at the shades protecting Tony’s eyes.

“Yes. He wants to speak to you.”

“Alright, you wouldn’t have a first aid kit, would you? I twisted my ankle at the skate park.” Tonya’s right ankle was bothering her.

“Aria will patch you up at the house.” Tony knew Aria had the training to do first aid.

“Okay.” Tonya gets in the back of the town car.

She loved the slick leather seats and the cold air blowing inside the car. Once she was settled, the car starts moving.

“Hey, what is Lucia fixing for dinner tonight?” Tonya knew by the time they get to the house Lucia should have dinner prepared.

“Don’t know.” Jerry turns to look back towards Tonya.

Both men knew she was special to their boss and looked after her. She wasn’t even Italian, but he treated her like a daughter. The only thing he didn’t like was the huge tattoo on her back.

Tonya watches as Tony drove them towards the mansion that Marcus Antonius owned. They pass through a wrought iron gate and drive up the driveway. Tony parks the town car and gets out to open the door for Tonya.

Tonya slides across the backseat and looks at Tony “thank you.” She leaves her skateboard in the car because she knew Tony and Jerry would be taking her home later. She uses a side entrance instead of the main entrance.

Lucia looks up from cutting the roast beef she had prepared for dinner tonight and notices Tonya walking with Tony and Jerry behind her. A smile appears on her old face. She always liked seeing Tonya whenever she came over.

“Hi, Lucia, what’s for dinner tonight?” Tonya could smell all the wonderful aromas floating around in the kitchen.

“Roast Beef, seasoned stewed veggies, and creamy mash potatoes with gravy.” Lucia loved cooking different types of foods.

“Oh, I am staying for dinner tonight. Can you save me a plate, please? I got to go and see dad.” Tonya loved Lucia’s cooking.

“You’ll have a place at the table waiting for you.”

“Thanks, Lucia. You’re the best.” Tonya waves goodbye as she heads for Marcus’s office.

When she arrives at the office door, she knocks before entering it.

“Enter.” Marcus looks up from some books he was looking at.

Tonya opens the door and steps into the office “hi, daddy. Did you miss me?” As she shuts the office door behind her.

I don't know, but it could not end like Tonya expects.
