There are only 20 days left in December and a few from here before the contest closes on December 20th, 2024. I have been tossing out past Christmas stories daily in the hopes it might inspire some thought for an entry. I have begged for entries, shown potential entries and entries from the past with the BigCloset Retro Classic Christmas Specials.

I have done my part: Put out the Contest, the Prizes, shown entries... I wish I could have done more to inspire you all. I cannot bring a multitude of our deceased authors back. That would be bloody brilliant if I could huh?

This is my last contest, I wanted to go out with a bang. Lit up Christmas Tree, Light strings galore, presents under the tree for all of us! The works! Even Santa Erin passing out our holiday treats and presents... *sigh*

I guess a whimper is good enough... ><

I am sorry

I can’t speak for other authors, Sephrena, but the past election in the U.S. has had a very negative effect on my levels of both inspiration and focus. I am trying to dig out of it, but it has been a slog.

I don’t intend to be political; people have different views — and levels of concern — where this is concerned. I only want to suggest that the number of entries may have been impacted by events beyond your control.

Also worth noting: at least in my experience, most authors are “exactly how late can I turn that in?” kind of people. :)

BCTS 20th Anniversary Celebration

Occurred on November 15th. Why hasn't our fearless Leader mentioned anything about this? I want to help celebrate it!
20 years ago, on the internet, the original BigCloset TopShelf on Ateros was born! Messaging, blogs were just coming online.

Anyways, until Erin posts Something about it - here's to BigCloset TopShelf!

I've been ill

erin's picture

Tired all the time, weak and dizzy. I'm going to see the doctor as soon as I can but frankly, the 15th was the day I was the sickest.

Hugs to all and thanks for a wonderful 25 years.

I hope your illness passes quickly, Erin. Thank you for . . . Well, for everything. And congrats on the Silver Anniversary— for some reason I thought it was back in June, which is why I struggled to get my anniversary story, Uplift, done before the calendar ticked over into July. I had a whole four months left to procrastinate!

Topshelf anniversary

erin's picture

Topshelf (the Drupal version of BigCloset) had a twentieth anniversary on June 15th. :) Previous messages did not make this clear.

The first version of BigCloset (atEros) was hand-coded, then run with macros, and then with a CMS called PostNuke. Sometime in 2004 I converted to Drupal 4.7 (PostNuke forked itself to death) and got the bigclosetr.us domain and an early record shows this was operational on June 15th. Bob Arnold started StarDust about that time, too. Bob helped me with the 99shoes version of BigCloset (Drupal 5) and still later, the Armoire version (Drupal6). Then Bob died and Piper stepped up and helped me with the current Boudoir version (Drupal7).

Hugs,
Erin
