Thunder Creek Ranch Chp. 3

Printer-friendly version

Clair was sweating profusely by the time she reached the main house. She hopes someone will be able to help her out. She didn’t spot a door knocker or doorbell. So, she knocks on the front door and waits to see if anyone is going to answer.

Honey was in the garden picking out the weeds that were popping up. She worked hard to get this garden to produce all the vegetables and spices. Ever since she was forcefully turned, it was the only thing that kept her sane. Job and Erin were kind enough to take her in and help her through her trauma.

Job was very patient with her as she learned to control the violent tendencies she felt. She learned that her emotions caused her wolf to want to come out. So, Job taught her to control her emotions and her wolf.

Honey smelled and heard Rebecca’s footsteps as she came closer to her. She knew Rebecca was the baby of the pack and everyone thought of her as their child. She could smell Andrew and Letno’s scent all over her.

“What can I do for you, Rebecca?” Honey leans back on her folded feet.

“We have a visitor coming up the driveway. Mom and Erin are occupied at the moment, so could you see who they are and what they need, please?” Rebecca was still shy around people she didn’t know.

“Sure.” Honey stands up and dusts herself off.

“Thanks, Honey.” Rebecca skips back into the house.

Honey just shakes her head back and forth. She learned that Rebecca was over centuries old, but still acted like a child. She follows behind Rebecca and splits off to head towards the door. She heard someone knocking on the door.

“One minute, please.” Honey takes a breath, before opening the door. She wanted to make sure her wolf was asleep, before opening the door.

Clair heard a nice voice coming from the other side of the door. After a few seconds, the door opens and a woman with short shoulder length honey color hair was standing in the doorway. She had an athletic build to her and remind Clair of an Olympic runner she once read about. No one knew what happened to her. There had been rumors she had been attacked and died.

“Hi, my car broke down and I don’t have any cellular signal out here. I was wondering if I could use your phone to call a tow truck to come out
and pick my car up.” Clair had sweat sliding down her face.

Honey could smell the scent coming off the young woman standing before her. She could smell female perfume, but there was a hint of male pheromones coming off the young woman. She also noticed how hot the young woman looked.

“Why don’t you come in out of the heat.” Honey steps aside to let the young woman pass her.

“Thank you.” Clair walks pass the woman that opened the door and into the house.

The interior of the house was nice and cool. She looks around where they were standing. The place had a nice homely feel to it.

Honey looks at the young woman as she walked past her. She could tell that the woman was a little malnourished. She shuts the door behind the young woman.

“Would you care for something cold to drink?” Honey figures the poor woman must be thirsty.

“Oh, god yes. I could use a nice cold drink.”

A smile appears on Honey’s face. She walks past the young woman “if you’ll follow me into the kitchen.”

“Okay.” Clair follows behind the woman that opened the door.

Clair liked how the inside of the house-made her feel. Her parent's house never felt like this. She follows the woman into the kitchen. She stops and takes in how the places were arranged. She loved all the stainless-steel appliances and how spacious the place was.

Honey leads Clair over towards a wall phone “you can use this phone, while I fix you a drink. Oh, by the way. I’m Honey O’Conner.”

Clair looks at Honey with her mouth open. Everyone thought she was dead “I’m Clair Raigon. If you don’t mind me asking Ms. Raigon, how did you survive the attack by a pack of wolves?” Clair was curious.

Honey couldn’t believe how the wolf attack had been blown out of control. It was one wolf and if another wolf by the name of Sheamus hadn’t jumped out of the darkness to save her. She would have died that night.

She was surprised when Sheamus assumed his hybrid form and he was a teenager. He picked her up off the ground like she weighed nothing and took her into the darkness. When he did that, she had blacked out.

“It’s a long story, Clair. I hope you don’t mind sweet iced tea.” Honey grabs a glass out of the cabinet and put ice in it.

“I love sweet iced tea.” Clair searches for her insurance card and dials the road service number.

She couldn’t believe what they were saying. The check she wrote for the insurance company had bounced for a second time and they canceled her membership. She wanted to bang the phone but didn’t as tears leak from her eyes.

“Now, what am I going to do?” She had no money in her account to buy the water pump she needed and now she couldn’t get her car home.

Honey, places the glass of tea on the counter near her “if you don’t mind me asking, what’s the matter?”

Clair wipes the tears sliding down her cheeks, before turning to speak to Honey. She tries to compose herself as she looks at Honey “my insurance company has dropped me and I don’t have a job or any money to buy the replacement pump.”

Honey could tell Clair was telling the truth and felt sorry for the young girl. She stands there and thinks about what she could do to help.

“Let me talk to the ranch manager and see if he has a position available here on the ranch.” Honey knew Andrew sometimes hired day labors to come in and help around the ranch.

“Thank you.” Clair wonders if they have a bunkhouse or spare room she could rent.

“You sit here and enjoy your tea, while I go and speak to the ranch manager.”

“Okay, and thank you.” Clair hopes the ranch manager has a job for her.

Honey walks out of the kitchen and up to Andrew and Letno’s room. Just as she was about to knock on the door “enter.”

Honey wonders how Letno knew it was her. She opens the door and walks in. She spots Andrew coming out of their bathroom. She looks at Letno and still couldn’t get over the fact that Dark Elves were real. She always thought they were something out of a Dungeon and Dragon game. Her pitch-black skin, short platinum hair, and violet eyes were unique. Not to mention how sexy and curvy she was. If she was a normal woman, every man would be chasing after her.

“So, what did our visitor need?” Andrew looks towards Honey.

“Well, our visitor has car trouble and wanted to use our phone. However, there’s more. It seems the poor girl has no money; no job and her
insurance company just canceled her insurance and roadside assistant plan with them. Is there any way we can help her out?” Honey was watching Andrew as he thought about it.

Andrew looks at his wife “what do you think?”

“I think we should help her.” Letno had a feeling about her and something else that was coming their way.

“Alright, she can stay in the bunkhouse.” Andrew stars to get up.

“How about her car and what stuff she may still have?”

“I’ll go and get her car now. As for her stuff, I’ll take my truck and help her move it.” Andrew gets out of bed and starts getting dress.

“I’ll go down and inform our guest.” Honey turns and leaves the room.

Something more from Clair?

Could that something more is Clair still being male? That she has yet to have her operation and they may help her with that want?

Others have feelings too.
