There but for the Grace of God...

I'd already been out on my new bike, the carbon fibre job, which flies like a rocket when my legs have the energy to pedal fast enough. It had been spitting rain and I wondered if I was going to get caught in a deluge, like the one which prompted me to start writing 'Falling off a bike'. But the clouds passed over.

Sorry to all those who were hoping for another edition of this mayhem, I wrote one last night and thought I'd posted it. Obviously, something went wrong with the process and I went straight to bed, so I didn't check it out. I'll have to do another 318.

apologies,

Angharad.

Gabycon 2008 - the blog!

This is a purely personal account of my weekend. The drive up was good, I had to detour at Bristol to collect Saphira and her bike from the airport- well the Holiday Inn. This it turns out is nowhere near the airport, and might even be closer to Taunton. I did however find it within 48 hours (good job I packed an emergency Lion Bar).

Bike - I'm away

I'm away from tomorrow and haven't had a chance to pack yet, so I'm afraid I don't have time to conceive and write 'Bike' tonight. I'm away for a week.

Sorry to disappoint any readers/bike addicts.

Hugs,

Angharad.

Totally Insane - me, I think.

Sometimes ideas just come into your head and won't go away until they manifest as bits of typescript. This was the case with the start of Bike and Totally Bonkers. Both were intended as one offs. Okay so I did a second of both, and that should have ended the matter, especially of the latter story.

Writing Frenzy

On Sunday I wrote and posted over 11,000 words on this site in three separate entries, Totally Insane;Totally Insane (Concluded) and Falling off a bike.

Quite how or why I did it, and that included help from one or two others with express proofing etc.,I don't know. Something seems to drive me, does that happen to other writers?

Approaching 300!

As I approach episode 300 of Falling Off A Bike, I think I'd like to take check on if readers still want me to continue posting them or to bring it to a conclusion.

I'm aware it's at best literature lite, but given its preparation is zero, I really do write them directly to the site, which sometimes shows.

Staying on a bike!

'Falling off a bike' started as an experience of cycling through a thunderstorm. Today, I cycled through another one, this time on a mountain bike, with some wet weather gear and mudguards on the bike.

Here we are again, the end of another weekend with work lurking just over the horizon. Once more I feel that I haven't done very much at all, didn't do a bike ride or write another masterpiece, only fiddled about and achieved very little.

I finally got around to joining British Cycling, which for those not in the know, is an organisation dedicated to sport and leisure cycling. I'm already a member of the Cyclist's Touring Club, which is the main lobbying group for cyclists.

Thursday's Afternoon Play

on BBC Radio 4, 'Out of season' by Anne-Marie O'Connor, deals with four people visiting a cafe in Blackpool and the thoughts they have about what is going on in their lives. One of whom is a M2F transsexual, meeting her father for the first time.

The whole thing was quite well done.

53 weeks

I have noticed that I became a member here a year and a week ago, which for some is probably 53 weeks too long. I have frequented this site for a few years but previously as a reader, particularly attracted by Wanda's 'Kelly Girl', which I still consider one of the best stories here. In those days I was just an occasional reader.

The Rambo Granny of Melbourne , Australia

Gun-toting granny Ava Estelle, 81, was so ticked-off when two thugs raped her 18-year-old granddaughter that she tracked the unsuspecting ex-cons down - - and shot off their testicles.

The old lady spent a week hunting those men down -- and when she found them, she took revenge on them in her own special way, said Melbournepolice investigator Evan Delp. Then she took a taxi to the nearest police station, laid the gun on the sergeant's desk and told him as calm as could be:

The most recent, ie part 10 are all new episodes which have not been posted anywhere else.

I know this one is not as popular as some of my other stories, but it's still the one I like best. To the other two who will read it, I hope you enjoy it.

I had my first story posted on the fourth of October 2004 on Sapphires Place, the first episode of Snafu - a confection of New Age, transgenderism, military, medical and the occult. For some reason readers liked it, and I'm still writing it, although a conclusion could be emerging eventually.

When I got caught in a thunderstorm on my road bike, that six months later, the blog I was going to write and instead became a story, is still going. I hate to think how many words, pages and megabytes it occupies. It also seems to maintain its relative popularity, for reasons I don't fully understand.

I have written a new episode of Snafu, which has gone to my proofers. It's the first one I've done in 7-8 months, so I hope I haven't lost my touch for an action story, with a difference.

I will offer it to Sapphire first, as she has posted it from the beginning. I trust she will be able to post it fairly quickly.

I hope this cheers up all you who have nagged me to write some more.

Not tonight Catherine!

Believe it or not, I do have a life beyond the verbal diarrhoea I post here every night (which goes under the title of 'Easy As Falling Off A Bike). It has got in the way tonight, I have have to go out to dinner. So I can't promise an episode tonight - if I get back in time I will, but I have a busy schedule tomorrow with an early start for a sunday.
