Chapter Description: Chapter Seventeen: Fire and Ice. Two extremes. Fire and ice can mean elemental extremes to personality extremes. Loki has a plan to partner someone like fire with someone like ice. Will fire and ice work well in this situation, or will they destroy each other.

In the meantime, while Padme would like nothing better than to talk to Loki, duty calls. There are three missions that will separate Obiwan, Padme, Anakin, and Ahsoka. Three different challenges, from three very different sets of opponents.

The dark web is slowly closing around Padme. If Padme is not careful she will be caught in the net cast for her.

Though, much of this has been noticed by other individuals. Very powerful individuals whom have their own agendas.

Milsy's roll-out of clocks in the palace comes to an abrupt halt when one refuses to function. Tarvan gets ready to depart for Teldor while Fulvin disappears again. Matters are complicated further when a small group of strangely dressed visitors arrive, one of them of high status!

Once upon a time, a poor farmer married a beautiful princess. She was every bit as charming, graceful, and genteel on the inside as she was beautiful on the outside. The two were madly in love with each other, and even though the princess had to give up her right to the throne in order to marry such a commoner, she never once regretted her decision.

(Ive been feeling a little down this week...enough that taking a long jump from a tall condo building was on my mind a lot. But, I'm still here, but still having those feelings at time...writing helps, in short bursts...so, I have to take back my promise to not post snippets at a time...as it helps)

Logging has started. The god Mitra, of whom Keltraya worshiped, materialized upon this mortal world on the docks where we brought up into port. He put the dock-master to shame for his cheating ways and scheming for more money. Mitra inspired fear and forced the truth of what he had done out in front of everyone on the docks at that moment. What wasn't well known, was that as Mitra appeared, a certain party member, a white dragon of half human heritage, slipped unnoticed over the other side of the sloop and disappeared within the crowd.

“I went off to do the proper thing a dragon should do when they fail to keep a word promise,” Valeria mused as she rubbed the soapy water over her bare chest and shoulders, “I had gone to purchase a new set of clothing and to take a bath. At the time, I was thinking of offing myself on the bed in a fresh new set of clothes to give myself at least a proper send off. What actually happened, was that I had altered my plan upon touching the soothing hot water in the tub. It felt absolutely divine. I realized that I could leave faster if I used my claws to slit my wrists. To have it over with as fast and painless as possible.”

VII. Muzzle

I kept to myself for the remainder of the morning. I mean, I talked to Christy and Becky during class switch and told them what happened. How I was going to have to spend my noon time sitting in a small room with Josh. We all thought it was kind of funny that a week before, it would have been perfect with just the two of us together; well, with a teacher or someone from the office looking in on us, but we'd still be near each other.

Chapter VI
Once Upon a Time
I spent nearly every waking--and sleeping--hour of the summer and early fall with Josh--at least as much as we could as our parents would allow. They would attempt to keep us in eyesight, or appoint one of Josh's brothers to be the "anti-baby-sitter". The nominated brother usually got bored as we would just sit next to each other and say nothing that would interest them. It wouldn't take long before they stormed out without a word or their attention would wander to playing Super Mario Bros. and completely ignore us, which was always the idea.

Chapter V. I’m Going Crazy

The last time I saw my father was when I was in sixth grade. He had dropped us off at school and that night, his car, the one that Alex drives now, was found on the side of the Springdale Hwy. No damage, well, nothing out of the ordinary. The glove box was untouched. There was still an immense pile of coffee cups on the passenger side and fuel in the tank.

No key in the ignition.
No other tire tracks.
No blood.

I opened my eyes with a jolt.
Mom was home-she had either seen the kitchen or finally caught Alex smoking pot.

Startling and alarming news is heard from afar which upsets the King and Queen, causing consequences which include Milsy having to find somewhere else to live. Finally, the new clocks are started, fascinating both servants and royals!

Chapter Description: Chapter Nine: Padme is sent on a mission to Cloud City, Bespin, as Thor. Her mission is to find out why fuel shipments are not being sent to the Republic. But there is more than there seems in the city among the clouds. And Padme may find herself on the wrong side of a line she never wished to cross.

This is an excerpt from an uncompleted novel. That work actually predates my Masks universe, but is being rewritten to fit into the history of those stories. The style is meant to recall the pulps of the Thirties.
