I am me and you are you

Printer-friendly version

You and me are very different.
We always have been and always will.
Your words, fists and feet will never make me you
Just face it, I’m not like you

You call me queer,
You call me a paedo,
You smash your fists into my face
Yet I’m still not like you so what’s the point eh?

Yes, I like to dress as a woman,
What’s so wrong in that? Will it condemn me to spend eternity in hell?
Just because you don’t do not make me bad.
Despite all your bullying, I’m still here.

One day I will begin to live as a woman
I’ll hide amongst all the other women
But knowing you are still out there
Won’t make me safe

You have your life and I have mine.
You have your family and I have mine
Do they understand why you hate me so much
So why don't you face up to the fact
I am me and you are you but you will always be my brother.

Bullies will never understand why we are the way we are.

The alleged fanatical righteous right wing fanatic wants the world to revolve around them. When I went to school I was taught that the earth (world) revolves around the star sun Sol (the sun). So, like the author, I am baffled that, if the world revolves around the sun, how can it revolve around the bullies and the fanatical right wing? Although public ideas about us are changing, we still have a long, long way to go, before we can actually be free. We need a President who will write an LBGT Emancipation Proclamation telling the people of this country, that we have a right to live just as much as they do. I mean if we cut ourselves, don't we bleed red blood, just like they do? You bet we do. Thank you for sharing this thought provoking little story.

With confidence and forbearance, we will have the strength to move forward.

Unlike you, I do have a brother... 4 yrs younger than I am.

He found out about my dark secret a few years ago from my mother.... they spoke at length; and my brother commented to my mother, that no matter what, 'I (referring to me) will always be his brother....' the sad part is, I never was in the first place......
