Kris looked at me, "We'll need your talent to take them out without destroying the bodies we need for evidence. Think you're Game?"

"As long as I have access to a printout of their physiology to look for a weakness, yes."

I felt a strange gestalt with the others in the battle suits. Looking along the lines of communication, I saw that Dani and Tina were the bases of the gestalt and that I was the focal point. As I scanned the Team, I saw connections between them and their unique talents as well as their hang ups that were limiting their power.

I relaxed their inhibitions and activated their aura's protective shield that would enhance their sense as well as give each of them a thin shell that would deflect solid objects and hamper energy attacks.

"I have just enhanced everybody. You will find that you can do more if you relax."

"Will you still be ready to boost us if needed?" asked Kris as a powerful glow emanated from her hand.

"Yes, just call out and I will be there."

As a group, we headed towards where the zombies were, we soon found that they were ready as we were as a pyro launched flames at us which Max's hydro power doused as he sent a wall of water down the hallway, "That thing's flame is almost greater than my hydro."

I felt his mind relax and tap into the full fury of his power. He had erected a mental barrier to govern his power because he was afraid that he could flood and drown anybody if he let go. Which is why he had so much trouble controlling his power on the small scale.

He sent a fist of water that punched the zombie out, leaving it a sodden mess of charred remains that were absorbing the water and reversing the charring.

"Eric's pyro was linked to hydro absorption. He is reversing the effects of his death," announced Luce.

"Max, erect a hydro shield," ordered Kris, seeing that the floor was flooded.

"Coming up," he replied as the water became a curtain to warn of any attack.

Kris, the zombies have gone above and below. Prepare for ambush. came Lara's voice over the intercom.

"Max, can you erect an ice barrier around us?"

The surrounding water formed into a steel hard ice barrier on the ceiling and floor, "Done, but I'm pooped"

Kris turned to me, "Until he has had time to harness this part of his ability, it'll drain him to form ice." I said.

Above and below, we heard curses as the zombies hit the ice.

"Lili, Van Lai, target anybody from above. Luce, Adrian. Target anybody from below."

All bets were off as the zombies broke through and started targeting everybody. Try as they might, the teams were unable to stop the zombies advance as they launched overwhelming attack after attack that took out everybody but me.

Kris launched a lightning bolt at a zombie only to be hit by a flood of water that shorted her out. She was surrounded with a halo of energy that vaporized the flood, and then she dropped to the ice.

"KRIS!" shouted Luce.

"She's OK, just knocked out by the water. She needs to be dry to recover," I said.

"I can handle that," said Luce as she sent Kris to the infirmary.

Lili was fighting against two telekinetics, holding her own until she was hit by two psychic blasts that dropped her.

"Status on Lili?"

"She's OK, but is going to have a headache from that attack," I offered.

"Time to get rough, then," said Luce as she literally ripped the zombie nanites out of them and the frost zombie and sent them to an open canister in a secured bunker before she staggered.

"Luce?"

"That fine of a control tired me out. Need to rest, Sam."

PACKAGE RECEIVED came over the intercom.

"Rest, Luce. And let me recharge you as you eat a ration bar."

She smiled as she are the bar and downed the drink that under my influence was metabolized so quickly that she belched out and knocked over an electric zombie that was coming forward.

"LUCE?" I asked in amused wonder.

"Always wanted to do that after watching Loony Toons."

While this was happening, Van Lai setup a firewall that torched a zombie, but was hit by the ice that Max had formed as it pelted her in an avalanche of snow. She finally cooked it enough that it fell down and began to absorb the water to heal the body of it's burns.

"Scan her!" ordered Luce.

"Luce, too cold. Need heat," she said as she passed out.

"You'll be alright," promised Luce as she sent her to the infirmary.

"Luce, can you fight?"

"Barely, Sunny. I should have more power, but I feel weak."

I scanned the zombies, "A telepath is linked to Brian and attempting to possess you. Only your power is preventing him from possessing you which is why your hair is limp."

That angered her enough that her hair choked those two zombies until they went limp. Then she gathered up the nanites of the fallen zombies and sent the nanites to where she sent the others.

ANY MORE? asked the intercom.

"WE"RE STILL UNDER BATTLE ALERT." I announced.

Samantha launched her attack upon the zombies, creating a light construct that bowled then over and began to burn the downed zombies as Luce sent them to the security bunker.

"Just bury them before they revive and want to eat our brains."

Sam giggled, "You've seen those movies, too?"

"Yep! Daddy has ALL of the monster and horror movies on tape. And we copy all of those nifty movies from the SCIFY channel."

"Will y'all..URK"

She got hit by a sonic scream that knocked her out.

Luce sent her to the Infirmary, "Best not to have her here where she can become a liability," she said as tried to grab the remaining zombies, but failed when the sonic scream knocked her back.

"Luce, need my help?"

"Call the Infirmary and make sure that they're OK," she ordered as her hair lifted her up to the ceiling where she lobbed grenades in front of the zombies before they hit her with a combination fireball, ice storm and lightning ball that stunned her.

That left me to face them alone. Scanning them, I found that Luce couldn't touch them because they did not register on her probability matrix, meaning that they were out of phase with reality. But I did see their electrical aura, which meant that Kris could hit them.

I opened myself to the bases power supply and encased Luce in a shield while I targeted the zombies minds to short them out. But being dead, it took more power than even Kris could muster.

Using my gestalt link to my friends, I tapped into the Base’s power supply and copied all of their powers to launch a combined attack that sent the zombies to the floor as ice and snow froze them before intense heat burned them followed by an electrical arc that caught them in a hellfire of power.

I faltered as the sheer onslaught of power coursed through my body, causing me to slump to the floor. I saw the now freed zombies coming at me with murder in their eyes.

So I touched the metal floor to connect to the generator and caught each one in an electrical circuit that fried the nanites. When the final zombie fell, I called out "ZOMBIES NUETRALIZED!" before I passed out.

I awoke, feeling numb. Where am I

Not seeing anybody and still groggy, I closed my eyes as I heard a voice, "Welcome back to the land of the Living," said Dani with a smile.

"Where am I?"

She wiped my face with a damp rag that cleared my head, "You're in the infirmary along with the Team."

"How are they?"

"Don't worry, they're resting comfortably and will be awake in the morning, although they'll need about a week of light duty until their back to normal."

"DAMN! I did my best and they still got hurt," I pouted.

"Sunny, if not for you, the zombies would have destroyed the Center. Colonel Harris is getting you a medal for what did."

I sigh, "I'm not in this for any sort of glory, I just want to help."

"Do you think that Kris and Luce want their jobs as leaders?"

"I don't know."

"They don't. But they're the best at what they do and know that if they didn't lead, then they'd be shirking their Duty. Do you see them doing that?"

"Honestly, no. But after what just happened, I don't know if I'm cut out to fight like they do," I sighed.

"Sunny, you were thrown into that battle without proper training, and that has affected your power."

"Oh? How so?"

"Not only can you enhance another's powers, you can also use their power as your own and act as a power conduit and telepathic link."

"Then why can't I sense anybody?"

"What do you mean?"

"It's as if my power is gone!"
