I know I've apologized for this before, so I apologize for apologizing again.
I know I tend to leave a lot of stories hanging. I either get bored, lose inspiration or just plain want to write something else. It's why I usually don't do serials. Many factors contribute to my low output and I'm not making excuses, but others post personal items here.
With one kid away to college, I have only one kid's schedule to write around now, so that helps. My job has changed to something that's murdering my soul and that it's something I don't want to do and not good at anyway (they dumped the systems that were being supported by 8 people on me and one other person, and we've received no training. I hope this job application pans out because I can't wait to hand the boss my resignation letter.) Our CIO makes Dilbert's pointy-haired boss look like a genius. No, seriously. My brother dying unexpectedly right after new years didn't help and neither is trying to settle his estate which for some reason fell on my shoulders.
That said, I'm almost finished with part 2 of Drag Queens. I've started Part 4 of The Ring. I'm almost done with part 1 of a new series that I'll have to re-name because somebody started a story with the title I had in mind. I'm 3/4 through a new stand alone. I've started Part 2 of Private Little War as well as Part 2 of Zoe. I'm trying to develop a sequel to The Changing Man and I'd love to do another Melissa Cooper story. I also want to do a final Eve story. And I haven't forgotten about doing Part 3 of The Model. I'm still trying to figure out how I want to handle the 3rd and final trilogy of Brain-Jacked. And I actually did forget about the Alex stories so I need to re-read those and see about doing another one. And I've started the process for my first ebook.

Life takes us many places we both want to go to and not. You have had a lot on your plate. You don't owe us anything Melanie. Just keep your wits and health up and anything you decide to dazzle us with is up to you.

Oh dear, I hope I haven't
Oh dear, I hope I haven't inspired this, no one is upset, it's just we love your stories so much, we hate to see them end.
It's amazing to me how you are able to work on so many at once! I have an impossible time even reading one story then writing my own. You have no reason at all to feel the need to apologize to us.
When you dread going to work each day, it sucks the joy out of life. A different job, where you look forward to arriving each day is worth twice the money paid. 8-)

I love your writing, it is so good that when I see your name I immediately open the file. Take all the time you need, but watch out for yourself first. I will be here to read what you write whenever it hits the screen. Hope the new job comes through, worked in the corporate environment way too long, only regained some of my sanity when I left it. Thanks for your stories
I always look forward to one of your stories. You're forgiven. I've been working on my first story for a while and I'm determined to have it finished or at least completely blocked out so I don't leave readers hanging. My schedule does not allow for me to sit down at my desk and compose on a regular basis. There are several authors here who are so comfortable, organized, committed and perhaps as important, have the free time to keep one or many unfinished stories alive and fresh in front of us every day, week or month. You know who I'm talking about. Unfortunately that expectation becomes a pressure is well and I'm not sure that it always helps quality of the writing.
That said I'm looking forward to Drag Queens and my new and surprising favorite Brain Jacked.

Dilbert's Boss
I know a guy who dressed up as Dilbert's Boss for Halloween. He wore a three (3) piece suit, and a (flesh tone) skull cap. He cut up a wig and wrapped it around two (2) cardboard cones that he had attached to his head. (It actually looked pretty realistic).
He walked over to another suite to pick up an important fax from the receptionist. While he was talking to the receptionist, He (proudly) described how he went to a dozen different stores trying to find a brown wig the same color as his (normal) hair. Just as another guy wearing a suit (not a costume) walked in, she looked at him ("Dilbert's Boss") and said," ____, your hair isn't brown, it's grey."
I forgot to mention...
They used to sell a type of candy called a tootsie roll pop. Since it was Halloween, the receptionist had a bowl of candy on her desk (including several tootsie roll pops). When the guy dressed as Dilbert's Boss saw the other guy in a suit standing next to him (and in front of the receptionist), he looked down, noticed the bowl of candy, reached in and pulled out a tootsie roll pop, handed it to the other guy in a suit (not in costume), and said "Here you go Kojack!" (The other guy was bald!).
The other guy got even by making sure that the employees in Dilbert's Department knew what the Receptionist told Dilbert's Boss[lol]!
FYI: Kojack liked lollipops (not tootsie roll pops).
You have a lot on your plate
When you have a whole lot on your plate, probably the best path is to do what you have to do first, and then do whatever doesn't add more stress. Do whatever makes you feel more rested, and whatever is best at making you smile a lot. You know the people here are all ready to support you or just hang out with you. It's like having a second, extended family. You don't have to upload anything at all. We're just glad that you're around. :-)
life happenes
Events come up both wanted and unwanted, it is a wonder that you haven't let it bog down your creative hobbies is a wonder. On the news now is news about bananas and a run of toilet paper. I wonder, how this will affect your story telling.
