I'm writing a short series of stories where the action is based in a fictional US State somewhere near Colorado/Nebraska/S. Dakota.
If there is anyone here who knows the area and/or importantly knows how a County Police Department works then I would be most grateful to hear from you if you are willing to help me get my stories right.
There is an upcoming TV prog called Transgender Kids.
It is scheduled for BBC-2 (UK) on Sunday at 21:00.
The presenter (Louis Theroux) travels to San Francisco to look at a programme where transgender children are being helped to live in the sex of their choice rather than the one of their birth. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b05qkzt2
The item that caught my interest was about Gender Identity (the 2nd of 3 items in the prog). Are you Mr, Ms, Miss or what when you are living in a gender other than the one you were both with. (Gender Queer in the item).
When I were a lad, telling the world that you'd rather be a woman was a good way to get you committed or at least get a visit to the Loony Bin. Ok, so it is a bit of an exageration but it was new and most so called psychologists at the time didn't have a round hole for them to try to force your square peg into.
He was an openly gay icon and singer in Turkey. He was also very flamboyant with the costumes he wore including to be (perhaps) the first man to wear a mini-skirt on stage.
He died in 1996 and the article is related to an exhibition of his work in Istanbul.
Last May/June I spent three weeks in the Rockies travelling around and taking lots of Photos (5600+).
Whilst driving from Laramie to Yellowstone I had an idea for a story. Now after a prolonged period of gestation I've nearly finished it. So far around 20K words have been typed.
Now I'm about to start the editing but I have my 2015 Photo Calendar to get off to the printers first.
The provisional title is 'The Good Samaritan' but I not happy with it so it might change.
With a bit of luck I'll start posting it in a couple of weeks.
There I was sitting in a restaurant in Alamogordo, NM eating a meal and the 'server' said when you are ready you can use the device on your table to pay your bill.
I will post part 4 of my tale in a couple of days when I get to Durango. At the moment I'm about to watch the sun go down from inside Monument Valley. Yeah, it costs and arm and a leg to stay inside the park but it will probably be a long time before I come back this way.
Drove down through Bryce Canyon today. A lot quieter than yesterday (Sunday) but it was 06:00. Saw the sun rise and left around 06:45. Drove south on 'Cottonwood Valley Road'. This is dirt for most of its 48 miles. Would not want to get stuck out there..... Didn't see one other vehicle in the whole trip.
finally and after more than 3 years I have reached the milestone I have reached the milestone of 100 Kudos points for a story.(Out of the Ashes, Part 1)
I did a day trip to York (UK) yesterday. The purpose of the trip was to see the 6 remaining LNER A4 Class Pacific's (Steam Engines and yes I can hear some the groans from a few readers). They are on show at the UK National Railway Museum. They include the loco 'Dwight D Eisenhower' that is on loan from the US Museum in Green Gay and 'Dominion of Canada' which is on loan from Canada.
The event was organised to remember the 75th Anniversary of 4468 Mallard reaching 126 and a bit mph. It is half term holidays here and I had to queue for almost an hour to get into the Museum.
