‘The Other Side of the Wire’ is now on Kindle and Lulu.com

The fourth work of fiction set in the Second World War depicts life in Nazi Germany from 1935 on. It was inspired by the life of Solomon Perel, a Jewish-German boy who at age ten escaped Nazi persecution in 1935 with his family by fleeing to Lodz, Poland. When captured by the Germans, he managed to conceal his identity from the Nazis and become a member of the Hitler Youth in the process. It was adeptly depicted in ‘Europa, Europa,’ a movie based on the book ‘I Was Hitler Youth Salomon’ an autobiography Perel wrote in 1991.

The Adventures of Crewman Six

In just about any story, whether it be a TV show or a written work of fiction, the writer often finds he or she needs to include a nameless character in the mix in order to make the story more interesting or carry a scene. I used to refer to these as throw away characters since many of the ones I included in my stories shared the same fate of the extra crewman Captain James T. Kirk often included in his away team. You know the guy, (and they were always guys in the early Star Trek days), the one who went behind the boulder and was zapped.

Now on Kindle 'God Save the Queen'

Although it is actually the second cooperative effort between Persephone and myself, 'God Save the Queen' is the third of our works to be published on Kindle under the names HW Coyle and Jennifer Ellis. It started as a lark but took on greater importance when Crewman Number Six decided to take a more important role. More on that later.

We both hope you enjoy it.

'While the Band Played Waltzing Matilda' is Now on Kindle

'While the Band Played Waltzing Matilda' is the third historical fiction novels set during World War II. This story takes place in Malaya and Singapore starting prior to hostilities. As with all my previous works the story line is not only firmly based on historical facts, the actions of the characters are all within the realm of what was possible at the time as well as the social customs, cultural attitudes and practices.

I hope those of you who read it enjoy the piece as much as I enjoyed writing it.

The Story Behind the Story

Over four years ago, while looking over what Erin’s Big Closet had to offer I came upon a story that intrigued me. It wasn’t the categories the author used to define her story. If anything they were a turn off, for I don’t bother with stories tagged as having magic or science fiction elements. While I expect there are many great stories that do, they are not my cup of tea.

Ancient TG Fiction

When I set out to write ‘No Greater Love’ I used a story I thought was from the ‘Iliad’ by Homer which was written circa 760-710 BC. It is the one that tells of how how Thetis, the mother of Achilles, fearful for her son’s safety sends him off to the court of King Lycomedes of Skyros to live as a girl rather than risk death in war.

'Grace' by Nancy Cole on Kindle

Earlier this year I wrote a short story entitled ‘Grace.’ Since then I have changed the ending of Chapter 3 and expanded the story. For those of you who are fans of Downton Abby and can’t wait until next season I expect you’ll be able to satisfy your Edwardian itch with Grace.

The full version is now available in the Kindle version from Amazon.com and in paperback from Lulu.co.
