I'm still toiling away at my new novel. It's been so long since I posted a story that I compensate by doing blogs. The new novel is so worth it though.
I really hope I'm not annoying people with these updates or come across as if I am gloating because that is not my intent at all. I hope by sharing my success and excitement it will encourage others to follow their own dreams and press on.
Earlier tonight I hit my: Drum roll please
1,000th sale of the month on Amazon
and
Sold over 600 copies of God Bless the Child this month
Thanks to a friend of the site (they can name themselves if they want, I didn't want to presume) I have my very own website. That means I am not only an author, but a webpage as well.
I haven't posted a story in what seems life forever. Sure, I posted a poem a little while ago, but that's not the same thing. Rest assured, I am in the middle of a grand work. It is 180k words and still going strong (I don't look forward to editing).
When I don't post new things, sometimes I go back and look at comments and reviews from old stories. And since I sold a small boatload of God Bless the Child books last week I decided to check out the reviews for smiles sake.
I am so happy and excited and I wanted to share my enthusiasm with the site and offer some encouragement to those who are thinking about publishing E-books. There is a market out there and it isn't as small as you may think. If you write good books with global appeal, it will do well. You need to work, you need to market, but it can be done. I'm not the only author on the site who is doing well on Amazon, and I think there are several others who might be wanting to join the ranks.
If you've followed any of my blogs you know that I oft struggle with defining what I do as a writer. I know that may sound weird to some of you but it is very important to me. When writing is a hobby, you can get away with doing whatever you want and I, on occasion, will write as a hobby. When you write as a way of making an income you have to be a bit more defined in what you do. People see your name and they expect certain things from you. So for the last few months I have been trying to figure out who I am as an author. (I view being an author different from being a writer).
As some may have guessed, my career as a writer is really just starting but it's moving in the right direction. I am selling pretty steadily on Amazon and have another major novel in the works. I have more story ideas than I can shake a stick at, so I should be kept busy for quite a while. Needless to say, I still plan on posting stories to the site, I just don't have anything completed (but 150k words of a new story that should be finished in 2 weeks then editing).
I was wondering if a few people would help me figure out something that I am racking my brain over. I am wondering what exactly am I doing as an author. I know I don't post stories quite as often as others, but I do have quite an extensive library going on here and am in the middle of yet another major novel. I know a lot of people don't like definitions placed on them, but I am a different bird and sometimes like to know where I stand in the scheme of things. Here is what I got please add or subtract as you see fit.
Many people know from a few hilarious blogs I posted a year ago that I work as a papergirl. The only problem is, most people there don't know that I'm a girl.
It is with heavy heart and deep regret that I must inform the community that Stan Morton, otherwise known as Stanman died a week ago. I heard from a friend of the family so I didn't get any details
If I was in a better position financially I would commit myself to a mental ward and never leave. I am dangerously depressed and sleep deprived. Things are going well, but I am so fearful that the bottom is going to drop out and that I'm going to lose everything. I would rather die than to see that happen and that worries me.
I am so tired of the fight, so tired of the struggle, so tired of people looking down at me and sneering at me.
I was wondering if other author's did the same thing as I do or if I am totally nuts. See, when I am in the middle of writing a work, I make it a habit not to read anybody. I don't mean just reading things on line, I won't even read a newspaper article (even if I really wanted to).
I had an interesting question and I think it might help other authors who also publish on Kindle (I'm hard at work at a brand new novel which is why I haven't posted anything here for a while and after 100k words decided things will work better if I made it first person so it's going to be a while since I haven't even finished the plot yet).
A new E-book is available just in time for the fourth of July weekend (American Holiday). The Test Taker is now out for the Kindle and available on Amazon. The Test Taker
I figured I would try something new, so I made a fan page on Facebook. Don't you want to be a fan? Please? I need validation. Plus I give updates on books that I don't give here (I rarely post something on facebook and then blog about it here). And I'm planning on doing a ton of pictures. Maybe even me as a mistress/dominatrix, I just have to find a lot of black PVC.
I have made several books available on Kobo and Smashwords. This is so I can branch out and see what else is out there. So far, it isn't looking promising, but I figured that may be because I haven't told anyone about it. So, here is the official announcement.
I will be making a total of 5 books available on other platforms. So far I have 4 on the kobo and 2 of them on Smashwords. I will eventually get to all 5 as a test run. These titles will be available:
The wedding between J. Felix and Katie Leone is definitely going to happen. We are aiming for late summer 2014. This gives people plenty of time to save money for travel expenses and the such. I know Dorothy wants to be a bridesmaid and I've asked Jenn C.. I am dead set on having Erin Halfelvin (because I never know if I should use her real name) to be my Matron of honor. We are getting set to go into premarital counseling. I've got a dressed picked out. But there is a lot to prepare for in a little over a year.
As some of you may know, I've been trying to get my children's book done. I finally got some preliminary drawings of the first two pages and have added them to the story file. Unfortunately, I can't move the story back to the first page and don't want to repub something as new that isn't.
I wanted to thank everyone who responded to the other blog. That's one thing so wonderful about this site is how supportive we are with one another. While other sites try to tear others down, we are building each other up.
I am in a little bit better mindset. Felix and I are brainstorming things we can do at home to help. I may do one of those kickstarter promotions in order to get the piece of exercise equipment I need (I find that I don't lose weight with just dieting and I don't live in a neighborhood where I can simply walk around without being accosted.)
